TRANSITING NEPTUNE SEXTILE MARS

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on March 30, 2020 at 8:50 AM Comments comments (0)

Transiting Neptune is in the sign of Pisces until April of 2025 after which it moves into Aries and no longer returns to the sign Pisces due to retrograde motion.

In its own sign, Neptune’s energies are tied to our search for our spiritual connectedness, our psychic potential and our intuitive feedback. Neptune is closely connected with our mystical journey; and when in Pisces, opportunity awaits those that are in search of this fulfilling energy.

As this post is written in March of 2020, a sextile from transiting Neptune to natal Mars would define Mars’ placement in an earth sign, either Capricorn or Taurus. The closer this aspect is to being direct (exactly 60 degrees) the more powerful the energies that will be felt. Check you chart to see if this aspect is affecting you personally.

Mars is our driving force and is known to be aggressive in its expression. It pushes us ahead in our quest, whatever that may be and in some cases has to do with willful action. Both placements (Taurus and Capricorn) suggest that the drive has to do with what could be called reality, perhaps in material terms, but the search is for tangible outcomes whatever it may be. We seek out something that can be relied upon, something concrete and stable, and Neptune on the other hand is pretty much anything but that.

Neptune is illusory and often vague in its expression. Neptune has to do with insight and the intangible. Put the two together and we come up with a search for or the pursuit of something that is out of the so called normal realm of existence, something that, if pursued, can become more solidified and reliable.

For those in search of mystical insight, opportunities await and the likelihood of concrete realizations is at hand. Neptune is often an enlightening experience when it touches our natal planetary placements after the fog clears. Neptune is illusive in nature and very difficult to analyse in terms of perceivable stabilizing realizations, but this may and can be observed on some level during its sextile to Mars in the earth signs. Sometimes under this influence we can experience revelations of truth, tangible truth connected to the mystical side of life, not just through the unconscious mind but also through conscious realizations.

This would be a good time for those who consider the mystical realm suitable for their evolutionary growth and sextiles imply opportunities. It will likely be up to us whether we actually pursue this or not. Sometimes these opportunities just fall into our lap and other times we need to give ourselves a push to realize them. Mars can now provide that push.

Check to see the position of transiting Neptune, natal Mars and also Natal Neptune by house and also by aspect from other natal and transiting positions to get a clear of what opportunities are in store. Houses are areas of life and aspects from planets and angles will define how the energies are release and what other energies are in play.

Enjoy this opportunity of realization and make the best of these energies if this aspect is in your chart. It will likely unfold in unconscious terms initially and then become conscious.

Transiting Neptune Square Mercury

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on March 27, 2020 at 9:25 AM Comments comments (2)

Neptune often has a spiritual link while transiting through the chart. It can also be quite illusive and can create illusionary thoughts and perceptions when in line with Mercury, particularly when making a square aspect. Again, as mentioned, however, it often has some type of link to spirituality and this is particularly so if it is in the sign of Pisces.

If you are currently experiencing the transit we are focusing on today (Transiting Neptune square natal Mercury) in your personal Astrology chart be sure to have a look at the overall condition of the other transits and progressions before coming to a conclusion on this aspect. Remember to check the house position of transiting Neptune, the house position of natal Mercury and also the house position of natal Neptune and the aspects to it. This will provide you with a full interpretation of what might unfold while Neptune is activated.

The energies of a square between Neptune and Mercury often point towards a misunderstanding or an inability to communicate clearly. Your verbal expression and communicative skills will not be clear and others may have a difficult time understanding what it is you are trying to convey. If your conversation is about intuitive and psychic experiences, however, or if you are looking for information in these areas, you will be able to find quality information. Your inner, intuitive self might understand the material better than your conscious self at this time. Even if the conscious self does not understand what is being presented, the information will be retained and perhaps when needed, will resurface and provide you with some needed insight or guidance.

It is best to hold off on decisions of significant matters while experiencing the influence of this aspect, such as signing documents, purchasing property or being involved with anything legal, if at all possible. Neptune is more concerned with spiritual matters and the mundane world around you may not hold your interest or this lack of interest can cause issues later. Under this influence, your mind may shift or you may lose track or spend time worrying about making the right decisions.

It is advisable to reach out for help from someone you trust before signing any documents if you are obligated to do so and even under these conditions, there is still the chance that there can be mistakes made. Often times, we tend to worry too much about issues that in reality are not even significant.

There is the potential of being deceived by others. As a result, be careful with whom you express yourself to and whom you place your trust in.

The mind tends to be unclear and may wonder, worry and experience fear with issues that have simply been blown out of proportion. You would do well to wait for the fog to clear. Clear sight and understanding will afford you the ability to handle things with an insight into what is actually taking place.

Under harsh conditions especially if Uranus or Pluto are somehow part of the equation, you may need outside assistance as transformations and changes of an unusual sort might be part of the process and this will make things even more unclear.

Professional help is suggested particularly if the twelfth house is involved or possibly the eighth house, although the eighth may be linked closer to the occult teaching and also joint finances or matters connected with legacies or inheritances.

Be sure to have the full picture and do not allow yourself to be deceived by what appears to be truth. Sometimes truth can be camouflaged or hidden in some way.

JUPITER SEXTILE NEPTUNE - Transits

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on March 25, 2020 at 8:45 AM Comments comments (0)

Transiting Jupiter sextile transiting Neptune, although it has been in place since February 2020, deserves further mention. Jupiter and Neptune are in sextile to one another almost to the end of 2020 and have strong links in February (direct February 20), in July (direct July 27) and October (direct October 12). Don’t forget this transit is in place for everyone and can also be used in mundane astrology.

You will have to check your birth chart to see at which degrees these planets affect your natal placements and also by what aspects. Check also the house positions involved for further information. They are tightly linked from 18-20 degrees, Jupiter in Capricorn and Neptune in Pisces.

Jupiter expands on things and brings great growth potential. Jupiter is also linked to good luck, good fortune, fortunate possibilities and in general all things good. Jupiter’s negative expression is over the top expectations, over doing, overly optimistic anticipations and excessive growth.

Neptune has to do with spiritual insight, mystical unfolding and psychic potential. Neptune in its negative form deals with fogginess and things being unclear or the desire to escape anything that is intrusive or unfiltered in negative terms.

These two transiting planets are linked by a sextile indicating opportunities for spiritual growth, expansive understanding into the mystical side of life and optimism with regards to higher learning and growth potential in these areas of life.

Sextile’s energies in some cases fall into your lap. In this case, this may also be tied to growth and opportunities tied to success, whatever that means to you due to Jupiter being in Capricorn.

At other times sextiles need a push from you and it is suggested that rather than wait on an opportunity to fall into your lap that you promote yourself and push to achieve what you would like to see in the near future. Good luck and good fortune is part of the picture if these planets link up favourably to your natal placements. Even if they are somewhat challenged in your chart, you can always work towards learning something of relevance during the upcoming year.

If you happen to have a conjunction, trine or sextile to one of these placements or favourable aspects to both of these positions, you can push ahead in your endeavours now and create something viable down the road or even in this moment.

If you have Squares or oppositions to these placement then it may take some work to achieve what you set out to do, but you should always keep pushing even when there are obstacles in the way. The worst you can do is fail or fall short and then this is when valuable lessons are experienced.

We should understand that growth comes in many shapes and forms and are not always easily recognized as such initially.

NEW MOON IN ARIES MARCH 24 2020

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on March 23, 2020 at 8:45 AM Comments comments (0)

The Sun and Moon align on March 24, 2020, at 5:29 EDT.

This conjunction between the Sun and the Moon, better known as the New Moon, is in the sign of Aries at 4 degrees. The New Moon’s energies are perfect for planting seeds in the garden of life. The more we cultivate and nurture these seeds, the greater the potential for harvest particularly when we have our Full Moon (Aries) in the same sign some six months from now.

Aries is a perfect sign for beginnings and moving ahead full steam towards our objectives. The only possible set back may be that we do not plan enough and therefore make mistakes along the way. As you are planning to pursue a goal under this influence, make sure that you are fully prepared before you set things in motion. Also expect some changes along the way.

Aries is a pioneering sign and wants to be the first one to push ahead. These individuals need no assistance and are quite willing to go it alone, depending on their resources. Aries, ruled by the planet Mars, can be aggressive in its pursuit and needs to cultivate patience, but can move mountains if it so desires. Action is a prerequisite at this time although as mentioned planning is also important.

If you have a planet within three degrees of this placement (4 degrees) and in major aspect (conjunction, sextile, square, trine or opposition) it will have a more powerful influence in your life than if you have no planets near this degree. The closer to exact the degree is, the stronger the influence will be.

Check the houses involved as this will be the area (s) of life involved in the equation and also look into the aspects from planets as this will determine how the energies will played out.

Your plan of action should be soon; don’t wait too long. Those that are unsure or concerned about the outcome with justifiable reasons perhaps should not take action at this time. But don’t let negativity stand in the way of progress. Due to the higher degree of uncertainty at this time especially related to business and finances, it might be wise to temper down your goals at this time. These are uncertain times, although it has been predicted that once the virus has subsides there will likely be a surge of activity.

If your plans are well thought out, you may enjoy some favourable results as long as there are other indicators in the chart. Patience in general under our current circumstances is certainly suggested.

Stay true to your beliefs and know that better times are just around the corner. Aries’ energies are favourable for intent and strength. If we take the time to do the prep work and think things out rationally, we will find our way through.

Indictors are in place for a brighter future. Believe!

FEAR AND ANXIETY

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on March 19, 2020 at 8:50 AM Comments comments (0)

Amid the very real concerns spreading worldwide, we still need, above all else, release from our worries and a focused on and control of our reactions. We are witnessing a very high level of anxiety which if unchecked can also affect us personally.

Step back for a moment, and examine your true concerns. Recognize that, although this is a concerning outbreak, our attitude still holds powerful ramifications to our overall well-being.

We can spend countless hours, days and weeks worried about how this will affect our loved ones and ourselves, but in reality what does worry do except rob us of enjoying this moment?. By running with fear, we are packaging ourselves into this predicament and spreading even more worry to each and every person we contact. We are not suggesting that we should be lax and not be mindful of what we are doing and how we are doing it but with our evolving recognition of the importance of our thought processing and how our thoughts create our reality, how can fear serve us?

Each of us, in differing ways, will be affected by this virus, but worry and anxiety will not change things for the better. Accepting life as it comes and knowing we influence the outcome of our experience by our reaction, we can move forward with purpose. Our life’s mission and experiences are as they should be. Our judgement of the experience is what adds extra burden.

Anxiety and fear are each a virus in themselves. We can create calm in the midst of dismay. A gentle reaffirmation of love will go a long way.

Do not forget your place in this evolving story and live your part by being the agent of change and love as you see fit. Stand tall at the gates of adversity and cast your loving light in today’s dark corners.

SUN IN ARIES - MARCH 19, 2020

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on March 18, 2020 at 8:45 AM Comments comments (0)

The Sun moves into the cardinal, fire sign of Aries on March 19, 2020 at approximately 11:51 p.m. EDT.

Aries has been linked to enthusiasm, aggressive action and a strong push to move in a direction that can open doors for advancement or personal gain. Many Aries have a “me-first” attitude. Many Arians recognize that we can’t help others until we help our self. If the push is just for themselves however and without concern for others, they may be working from the wrong end of what Aries is here to accomplish.

Fire signs, under normal conditions (depending on other influences in the birth chart), have a lot of energy and are self-driven. Aries wants to be the first one to move ahead and because of this will learn through experience. These individuals will make their fair share of mistakes which will require corrections along the road of life. These can be very valuable lessons.

Aries can be a little too pushy at times, but they do feel they know what is best for whoever is in their focus especially when it comes to something they believe in. Some Arians can develop ego issues if they don’t curb their enthusiasm into channels that also benefit others.

Aries individuals are the initiators and many would do well being self-employed. They are not followers; they are leaders. It is important for Arians to think things out a little longer before they plunge headfirst into a course of action. They will make fewer mistakes along the way; but if they fall short, it may be because they struggle somewhat with staying power. They can quickly move on to something else but also pick up the pieces and recover quickly from any past miscalculations that they may have made.

Currently, those with their Sun in Aries in and around the 23 to 24 degrees will be experiencing a tight square to the Pluto. Pluto is the agent of change and transforms structures so that something new will emerge from the ashes of what is no longer viable. There are no halfway measures about Pluto and in many cases things come to an abrupt end before something more viable can make its way forward.

The Sun is our inner self. Our goals and aspirations are often tied to the Sun sign and house position. Much will depend on the house position of your Sun and its square coming from Pluto, but any Arians with this aspect can expect goals to undergo major transformations which are often slow to begin and slowly unfold over time. Often we do not fully comprehend what is taking place and the why behind it until a year or so after the fact.

If Pluto is found on the DC, this often signals an end to an important relationship or the beginning of a new one. This is usually tied to a marriage partner or close business associate. Much will also depend on what other factors in the birth chart are attached to the natal positioning of the Sun. If it is poorly aspected then the transformation and regeneration can become quite challenging and some need to reach out for professional assistance under this influence. However we should also recognize that regardless of what takes place, changes (and often total transformation) are a requirement sent from higher purposes. Squares are difficult but on the plus side they will force us into action; action that is required.

Those Arians with their Sun in the early degrees of Aries will be experiencing the sextile from transiting Saturn. Saturn is the teacher of the Zodiac and when Pluto and Saturn were in conjunction in January/February of 2020, individuals with their Sun at around the 23 degrees of Aries will have experienced the square from both planets. This would have been an intense time indeed.

Now, however, and until June 2020, those individuals with their Sun in the early degrees will be enjoying this sextile which often points to opportunities coming their way. However, these Arians will always have to do some work (and be diligent in their efforts) if they want to succeed. Saturn’s requirements are hard work and a disciplined effort.

Always use the energies at hand in the best possible manner in order to create the best possible outcomes. Do not squander the energies at hand.

CERES

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on March 13, 2020 at 8:45 AM Comments comments (0)

Ceres is an asteroid which is found between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. Its main influence in Astrology focuses on nurturing and protection, but has also been known to be connected to anguish and grief.

Some individuals suggest that Ceres is connected to loss and that people will go to great lengths to regain what was once lost even if it means discarding anything that gets in their way of this recovery. The problem is sometimes we cannot regain what is lost. This is where the nurturing instinct and protection influences may surface with someone who has lost something important to them or in direct relationship to “something” that has been physically lost to them.

The placement of Ceres by sign and house position will define what area of life needs nurturing and in what manner this nurturing can take place.

A couple of examples might help. We will use both the sign and the house placement for clarity. If, for example, Ceres were found in the sign of Aries, what this individual needs and wants to give would be self-regulated. They would work diligently driving themselves, sometimes using force, to achieve their objectives. Action is what is needed and if for example this were in the third house, their needs and wants may involve their siblings or even neighbours. A great way to help heal or nurture that which needs to be nurtured would be through communicative techniques with this example house placement.

With our example, the intellect would play a significant role in what unfolds. They would feel as though it would be up to them to move ahead and their priority may be to nurture what suits them or push for nurturing those siblings, but this individual would want to be the forerunner in what takes place.

Another example may be Ceres in the sign of Leo. These individuals would really appreciate attention and even admiration if it goes to the extreme. Above all with this example, these individuals would like respect and to be noticed for what they do even if the actions were being carried out for someone else. They would want to control the situation but would have strong consideration for what the other person may want. If Ceres happened to be in the fifth house with our Leo example, the focus may involve a romantic partnership or their children. Enjoyment and experiencing life would be strong points with this placement and living life to the fullest would help in the healing process.

Let’s look at one more example. Let’s say that this last example, the individual has a Scorpio Ceres in the 12th house. This individual may need healing through acts connected to sexual expression or through internal integration and eventual transformation. There would be a need or deep understanding of the mystical or spiritual side of life and a strong want for full understanding of these subjects. Anything mysterious would open doors to eventual healing through deep self-study or a strong push to help others through their own methods of self-study revealing anything that needs to surface. This in turn would lead to healing deep integrated wounds.

Due to this placement of Ceres being in the twelfth house with this last example, this individual may work behind closed doors or undercover in some manner, as this work could be secretive or subdued in some way. They may work in hospitals or prisons or work as a volunteer for the underdog. With this placement, they may use their own understanding of what needs healing in others because they have lived under similar conditions themselves (knowledge through direct experience).

There is a strong need for healing and also to be the healing agent when it comes to Ceres in the Astrology chart. It is a mothering influence and some say it is connected to the sign Virgo with Venus having rulership. So Venus in the sign of Virgo suits this asteroid (which is also known as a dwarf planet).

URANUS

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on March 11, 2020 at 9:00 AM Comments comments (0)

Uranus, the planet of revolution and often sudden and drastic change, often causes havoc in people’s lives when it transits through the heavens. It is the ruler of Aquarius, the water barer, and is commonly known as the awakener. Its influence will function as a huge factor in making necessary changes to our lives.

Uranus makes changes in areas of life that have outgrown their usefulness. Uranus shows areas that require alteration and liberation from anything that could be considered traditional or restrictive in nature. It creates a desire for the new and unique and often produces this in unexpected and in unconventional ways.

Uranus moves through each sign in approximately 7 years and takes a full 84 years to circle the zodiac. During its movement, it creates quick results and a feeling of liberation and freedom from restriction. It governs universal brotherhood and is humanitarian in its nature. Uranus will force us to have an honest look at life’s issues and then enforce any necessary changes. If we choose not to adhere to what is being proposed, this influence will often affect us in a much more abrupt manner and will then most likely be out of our control.

Uranus is rebellious in its nature and pushes us forward to independent thinking and with a flair for the unconventional and unique. Uranus also has been known to produce shocking awakenings especially when our eyes have been closed to what is now required. Uranus governs universal truths and intuition. Anyone with strong Uranus tendencies has a unique way of rendering these truths (quite often in an abrupt matter-of-fact fashion).

Uranus’ action is unpredictable, imaginative and also very inspirational. It is the higher octave of Mercury and therefore is considered a planet linked to mental processing. It deals a lot with potential outcomes and is future oriented. Uranus pushes us to come out into the open and express our uniqueness and creativity. It is linked with advanced mental quickness and agility, similar to Mercury, although the thinking process may be considered bohemian in its nature.

Uranus rules electricity and anything electronic, such as computers and technology at its newest. Uranus is anything but conventional. Depending upon where it is found in our Astrology charts, it will indicate where we choose to reveal our originality and uniqueness.

If, for example, Uranus is closely linked to the Ascendant in the first house, originality will shine through. Many would consider someone with Uranus close to the Ascendant as a bit of an eccentric and they would not be ashamed of this flair which makes them stand apart from the crowd.

Uranus will push us to be different and also to be proud of our uniqueness.

FULL MOON IN VIRGO MARCH 9 2020

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on March 9, 2020 at 9:00 AM Comments comments (0)

Today, March 9, 2020 we will be experiencing a Full Super Moon in Virgo at 19 degrees 36 minutes at 1:48 p.m. EDT.

Those that have planets especially conjunct, square or opposition to this degree in your natal chart will be affected by this Lunar event. An orb of up to 3 degrees either applying or separating can be used (16 degrees to 22 degrees).

There are two close transiting planets making aspects to this Full Moon. Neptune is at 18 degrees in the sign of Pisces, so in opposition to the Full Moon and Jupiter is at 21 degrees Capricorn which is in trine to this Full Moon placement.

For those new to our page and to the energies of the Moon, Full Moons are known as culmination points. This is the time to harvest whatever seeds (plans) that were planets (started) six months ago under the influence of the Virgo New Moon. We now see the results of our efforts whether we fall short due to not enough preparation or not enough application or whether we reap a bountiful harvest. There will be times that we will reap our efforts, or we may need to make minor alterations or sometimes we may need to let go of things and begin again.

Virgo’s energies will insist on the meticulous handling of materials. They will point out any flaws in the procedure and will seek perfection. Likely you have been hard at work and now the fruits are ready for harvest. Everything must be in its proper order but try not to be too critical of your work. Perfection under many circumstances are simply not attainable. Details will be important and the energy that you have put into your work will definitely be seen now.

How have you done?

Were you working diligently towards the completion?

Is your goal now complete or does it need some minor tweaking? You be the judge.

The house where this Full Moon is located within your natal chart will be the area of life that is involved. Other natal aspects to this position will give further details and details are what you are looking for. Nothing half way suits you especially if you too have a Virgo Sun placement.

The opposition from Neptune might make things a little unclear and you may not be seeing things as they truly are. Other people might not view things as you do and they may infiltrate your work and perhaps ask you to work with them on this project. Neptune can certainly make things uncertain and blurred and you will need to use a clear perspective in order to see things as they truly are. This can manifest in many ways. Perhaps you view your work as perfect and nothing needs changing or perhaps you feel as though there is still some work to do. Ask others for their opinions as they may have a clearer perspective than you do, but make sure you can trust them. Don’t be too objective as you might just need someone else to offer advice. Alternatively, perhaps someone is standing in the way and not allowing full expression.

The trine from Jupiter in most cases brings fortunate outcomes and growth, and opportunities are often a by-product when Jupiter is involved. This may be related to business especially if the 10th or 6th houses are part of the equation. This may be personal in nature and at the same time involve the home and family especially if the 1st and 4th houses are involved.

It will be important to weigh things out but you should be ready for the next phase of this adventure. Jupiter does offer good luck and perhaps finances are involved as well as your profession or the actual working environment if the 2nd, 6th or 10th are involved.

Make sure you are seeing things clearly and don’t be too fussy. Overlook some of the small details and if things look good, move ahead. Sometimes opportunities come in different packaging than what we are expecting.

TRANSITING NEPTUNE IN OPPOSITION NATAL MOON

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on March 6, 2020 at 8:50 AM Comments comments (0)

If you have your natal Moon in the sign of Virgo, transiting Neptune may be in opposition to this position, depending on the degree of your Moon.

Oppositions often involve other people and the Moon has a huge influence on your emotional makeup and your reaction to life’s events. During this phase, you will have to be aware that you could be highly influenced by others, perhaps by deception or you may have a difficult time seeing through a vail of uncertainty. Neptune tends to make life’s issues rather cloudy.

As mentioned, the Moon has a significant influence on our emotions. During this phase, if you have this aspect in your chart, you may find that you are experiencing odd or unusual mood swings. People seem to affect you even if you are not aware of it. If you find that your moods suddenly shift for no apparent reason, check to see who is in your surroundings and what is transpiring currently in their life. You may be taking on their energies on a subconscious level.

Your intuition may be somewhat off and although Neptune can inspire great intuitive insights and clairvoyant abilities, you would be wise to have someone who knows you well offer their insight before you make any sudden adjustments to your life. If your world’s view is obscured and uncertain, understand that this could be due to the influence of Neptune and life should become clearer over time as this aspect moves away from being an influence in your chart.

Your inner feelings may not be overly accurate during this aspect, and you may be reading things incorrectly.

Again, it is best to ask others for their opinion, but make sure that they are reliable and trustworthy.

If this energy is affecting a love relationship, you may find that you are having trouble seeing your mate with clarity, even if you feel you are. You may be putting them on a pedestal and not seeing all their little flaws. Eventually you may be disappointed to find out that they are only human after all.

The home and family may also need some attention as these are areas ruled by the Moon especially if the Moon is in the fourth house, if Neptune is currently transiting through the fourth house or if your natal Moon rules the fourth house.

If the fifth house is highlighted, perhaps this energy may involve your children or your lover. Your creativity might be heightened if the fifth is highlighted.

If the sixth house is highlighted, take care of your health and make sure you are eating correctly and exercising appropriately. Health can be affected because of what is now taking place in your life. Mental confusion is often an off-shoot of this aspect and can create energies that make it hard to diagnose illnesses. There would have to be other factors in your chart suggesting something similar with your health for this to be significant. You need at least three indicators in your chart suggesting something similar to each other to have an affect your life.

Make sure you are looking at life from a positive perspective, as Moon in Virgo has a tendency to over-analyze everything and tear apart even the best of conditions. Always focus on the positive in life as you magnify whatever you focus on. Although this may be a troublesome transit for some, you can learn a great deal about your intuitive insight and how the mind operates. The greatest lessons come from the most challenging conditions. Use the energies in positive ways to enhance your spiritual understanding and intuitive insight.

THE MARS RETURN

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on March 4, 2020 at 8:45 AM Comments comments (0)

The Mars return to its original placement in the natal chart by sign and degree takes place approximately every two years. Mars in many cases is considered malefic in its expression and often denotes aggressive action and conflicts which on some level require strength and determination.

Before we go into the return and its implications and consequences, we have to look atMars’ placement within the natal chart. Is it well aspected especially by trine or sextile with the Sun, Venus or Jupiter? Is it poorly aspected especially by square or opposition and in some cases conjunct with Saturn, Uranus or Pluto? This will help define what we are working with when determining the influence related to Mars in this return cycle.

In many cases the time within a few days of the direct return, this period will often be accompanied by an initiation of activities, and a formulation of plans for advancement are often quite common. It has been noted that activities which require strength and stamina are generally highlighted at this time. Mars is connected to physical strength and the ability to rise above intrusion, but this can also deal with activities that are challenging in the mental arena as well.

Because of Mars’ reputation of being a malefic energy, some Astrologers link its place in the natal chart as an area of conflict, but the resolution often can be obtained by facing things head on and believing that inner strength is part of our personal abilities. Mars is certainly in need of steadiness and control as well as direction and has been linked with accidents and struggle often requiring instruction.

Many believe that Mars and its energies are something we need to worry about, but once again, we will need to look at the natal chart placement as well as other transiting and progressed factors present at that particular time to have a clear understanding of the energies at hand.

Mars is also a timing tool and can be used when analysing as something might occur and along with the Sun, Uranus and the progressed Moon, we will find that Mars can be quite accurate in determining when the energies are about to be released.

Those that are in sync with Mars (Aries rising or Sun in Aries or a strong Mars placement) will find that the energies are more comfortable and easier to work with than for those that are not fortunate enough to have this present in their natal charts. However, it is always wise to set plans before jumping into action as this is when accidents take place or activities turn out less favourable than what we might have wished for.

As with all return cycles it is a time for new beginning, setting new goals and plans of action. Mars’ return can help with defining when it is best to move ahead or stay put in our plan of action. In a masculine’s chart, it speaks of male energies and the aggressive instinct depending on what sign and house Mars is found.

In a more feminine chart, it often speaks of the masculine spouse or someone who could be considered enthusiastic or aggressive or a prominent masculine figure.

In both gender charts, it can speak of a young masculine individual; as with Venus, in both charts often speaks of a young feminine individual. In both charts, Mars speaks of the sexual drive and ambitious, enterprising efforts made by individuals.

When we are going to experience the Mars return be prepared for action. Sometimes we will need to anticipate activity, and other times, life just pushes us in a direction that often requires action, drive and a personal initiative.

THE VENUS RETURN

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on March 2, 2020 at 8:35 AM Comments comments (0)

As with any return, the Venus return is calculated to the exact day it reaches into natal positioning by sign and degree. A chart is then drawn up to define the energies associated with the planet Venus. A Venus return chart that closely matches the natal chart by sign and degree signifies an important year.

Venus’s cycle is approximately one year, a little over or under by roughly one month depending on the year. The house position and aspects and especially contacts with the angles define what type of return can be anticipated.

When deciphering a Venus return remember to take into consideration that this is a chart which has to do with Venetian matters. These matters will have an influence on love and affection and often speaks of a love interest. Sometimes it speaks of the daughter or a young important female and in some cases on a wider scale is representative of women in general.

Venus also has to do with social activities such as marriage and social events such as parties and engagements of importance. Venus also has to do with popularity and material objects such as gifts and acquisitions often referred to as elegant or pleasing to the eye.

The house Venus is located in within the Venus return will be an area of interest and much can be said with regards to what this period will be about by its house position. The Ascendant and the placement of its ruler also help uncover the potential that lies within this Venus return chart.

The aspects which Venus receives from other planets in this chart define how positive or challenging this period might be. However, it should be noted that Venus in many cases helps to alleviate some conditions especially when linked favourably to the Sun, Jupiter and the Ascendant. Challenging aspects to Venus in the return can affect love connections and also finances but favourable aspects will also affect these areas in a complimentary and positive manner.

Remember all challenges found in any chart are put in place to be resolved and they are the ones that hold the greatest lessons which propel us forward in life.

All returns are indicative of the beginning of a new cycle and are defined by what the return planet is about so return charts can be prepared for any given planet.

THE MERCURY RETURN

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on February 28, 2020 at 8:50 AM Comments comments (0)

Mercury is the planet of the mind and deals primarily with communication, the thought process and decision making. It is tied to such things as writing, public speaking, teaching, short trips, transportation such as vehicles and all things related to interaction with others.

For all returns, a chart must be prepared for the exact day that the planet in question (Mercury in this case) returns to its original place by sign and degree that is was at the time of birth right to the minute. Some sites will do this calculation for you or you can buy programmes that do this work. The Mercury return usually follows closely to the solar return and occurs once a year.

The rising sign is very important and will help define how life unfolds over the year in Mercury related ways. If Mercury is conjunct an angle or several planets, it often suggests an eventful year. Quite often a surge of energy related primarily to Mercury is experienced on the day it returns to its natal position. We would have to check which house Mercury is found in and although it returns to its original position by sign and degree the timing will be different from our birth time so the ascendant and houses will be different from their position in the natal chart.

If, for example, the rising sign is Aries, this will be a year of personal activities that can be used to propel us forward in life. Aries always wants to push ahead and strive for personal growth. This could be the year for activities related to signing of agreements, buying an automobile, starting a book or releasing a book, beginning teaching or moving into a programme that will help you achieve what you are trying to accomplish.

If we have Cancer on the ascendant, this could be a year that agreements or disagreements occur within the family or within the home environment. This could be a year when nurturing a family member or in contrast a year when we are in need of nurturing. Sensitivity is an important factor at this time and often intuitive experiences are enhanced. Of course things run deeper at this time as emotions are a big part of the process. Don’t forget as with any chart all the defining characteristics have to be taken into consideration. A challenged ascendant or difficult Mercury would suggest a year of some difficulty and decision making may not be easy, but in many ways the mind can still figure out the best route to take.

The house and sign positon of Mercury will define the area of life involved for the return year and will also define the energies associated with the sign. Don’t forget to also look at the ruling planet of the ascendant as it will give us further information. For example with Sagittarius on the ascendant, we will need to look at where Jupiter is in the return.

The placement by house of Mercury (Angular, Succedent, and Cadent) along with the general meaning behind what these placements suggest will also be important. Angular and Succedent as well as Cadent energies are all quite different from one another. If for example using only as a timing device, if Mercury occurs in a cadent house most of the energy will take place in the first 4 months of the year. If Succedent then most of the activity will take place in the middle of the year and if in Cadent things take hold in the last four months of the year.

Remember Mercury returns are highlighting Mercurial connections and will only last for one year. Also regardless of how challenging the chart appears, we can always find ways to work with the energy and learn from our experiences.

SUN IN PISCES - FEBRUARY 20 2020

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on February 26, 2020 at 8:45 AM Comments comments (0)

Due to our electronic shut down, we are a little late publishing this post. Sorry Pisces readers.

Those with their Sun in the sign of Pisces, in many cases, are clearly defined by the traditional characteristics of Pisces, but many are also highly defined by the other placements in the natal chart as well. As with all Sun Signs, the Sun sign is only one portion of who we are. Although Pisces is generally considered a somewhat passive sign and these individuals are gentle personalities that are often influenced greatly by others around them, there may be other strong placements in the natal chart which can dilute the Piscean traits.

An example might be someone with their Sun in Pisces but they have Aries rising, Mercury in Aries and the Moon in Leo. This individual’s characteristics would be quite different from someone with the Sun in Pisces and a rising sign of Taurus, Mercury in Pisces and the Moon in Capricorn.

Pisces in general, however, can be so soft in its expression that people only see the overflow of other more strong factors in the natal chart. Pisces is a water sign and is mutable in modality, often making these individuals highly influenced by those around them. They are sensitive to an extreme and can also be quite emotional. Many Pisceans have a difficult time not showing these character traits to the outside world.

Most Pisces are kind hearted and caring individuals often tied closely to the mystical path. Some Astrologers believe that Pisces, being the last sign of the Zodiac, have reincarnated through each sign and carry some of each sign’s characteristics within them. This is why many Pisces are so swept away and they want to nurture those in need.

Many Pisces individuals are musically inclined or have some form of artistic talent. They can be quite creative although often quite subdued in their expression. Much depends on the rising sign and other factors within the chart.

Most Pisceans have a difficult time dealing with hard and aggressive people or situations in life. They may choose to bury their head in the sand and try to stay clear of volatile situations. They are far from aggressive although some recognize these internal tendencies and tend to go over the top in proving their “masculinity” or abilities to stand up in the face of adversity.

Those that have their Sun Sign in the mid degrees of Pisces have had transiting Neptune, their ruling planet, making a conjunction to their Sun for some time now. Those with their Sun in the early 20 degree range are just beginning to feel this effect in their life now. This may be a time of spiritual awakening if they are open to such energies and they will experience vivid dreams that can be deciphered and used to provide some assistance in this undertaking.

Some may find that they are confused more than ever at this time, due to other influences in their chart. Some will seek ways to change their perception, either by meditation techniques, imagination or substance abuse. Pisces are known for substance abuse when life becomes difficult.

Pluto and Saturn in transit are both in Capricorn and both remain there most of 2020. Pluto stays for extended time and Saturn will move into Aquarius in December of 2020. Those with their Sun in the mid to late degrees of Pisces will be experiencing these two planets interlinking with their Sun. These two energies are powerful and are agents of transformation although Saturn will insist on hard work and a good foundation. Linked to the Sun by sextile implies opportunities to move towards inner goals, outer goals and aspirations and in some cases occupational opportunities. Much will depend on which houses are involved as these will be the areas of life involved in each Piscean chart.

In most cases, a transiting planet making a conjunction in its natural sign offers growth and opportunities to understand the energies at hand and in this case opportunities to open the door a little wider and have the ability to envision or explore their more innate personality and spiritual ties.

Happy Solar return my Piscean readers!

ECLIPSES - PART TWO

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on February 10, 2020 at 8:25 AM Comments comments (1)

This is a continuation of the previous post on the energies of an eclipse from February 5, 2020. Today, we will now go further into the definition of their energies.

One thing that perhaps we should mention that was not mentioned previously is that a Solar eclipse is connected to the sign and house position. On the other hand, a Lunar eclipse is connected to the sign and house position but also has to take into consideration the opposite sign and house position to get the full picture of what areas of life would be involved.

The duration of these eclipses can begin as early as one to two weeks before that actual eclipse event and usually lasts 3-6 months but can last up to one year. Some Astrologers suggest that a Lunar Eclipse lasts in months the amount of time in hours (a three hour eclipse would then have a 3 month effect) and a Solar Eclipse lasts in years the time the event takes in hours. Not enough research has been done in this area to validate these statements in my opinion. Don’t forget, the eclipse has to touch another planet in the natal chart and cannot be out by more than 3 degrees to that planet or angle making the aspect to be influential in an individual’s personal chart.

Eclipses are also designated into the elements, which are Earth, Air, Fire and Water.

With a fire eclipse (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) the energy associated with the eclipse will often be quite dynamic in its action. It will be intense and often happen rapidly. Again, the events associated with this eclipse can occur up to two weeks before and up to 3-6 months after the initial Eclipse. It can speak of first attempts and self-initiated activities or activities that are felt on a personal basis, especially if the eclipse is in Aries. We should be careful not to rush into things and watch for aggressive action under this influence. There can be dangers with arguments, fights and aggressive periods. On a world scale, these events can indicate wars and aggressive action taken by nations against other nations.

With an Earth Eclipse (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) the world of finances is often affected. Wealth and occupation can be influenced as well as career opportunities or shortfalls depending on which end of the nodes this eclipse occurs on. Business enterprises can be affected especially when connected to Capricorn and health may be affected especially with a Virgo eclipse. Land and property can also be affected as well as anything that is grown in our orchards, gardens and fields. This is more of a slow and meticulous eclipse and can last up to one year and usually unfolds slowly, although things often begin to come to the surface about one month after the initial eclipse period.

A Water Eclipse (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces) will have an impact from an emotional perspective. Emotions run high and sensitivity is accentuated. Quite often psychic inclinations come into play and we are more receptive to these influences in our lives. We can begin ventures into these areas if we wish and discover hidden elements within ourselves that we may not have paid enough attention to prior to this time. Home and real estate may be profiled especially when Cancer or the fourth house is activated. This could include buying and selling of property. Domestic situations may arise either for good or create a challenging situation based on the North or South Nodes influence and the planets associated with this eclipse.

Finally we have the Air Eclipse (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius) and these eclipses infiltrate the mind and communication techniques. They foster growth and advancement or setbacks when it comes to schooling and perhaps those wishing to promote their written material. It affects communication to a great extent and may help with the organization of ideas and promote higher learning on some level. Much can be learned whether this be through challenges or through higher teachings during this eclipse.

It should be remembered, as with all things in life, that the influence from any eclipses regardless of how difficult or easy they may be will also depend on our focus, rational, attitude and how we choose to deal with the energies at hand. We are always in control of our own personal outlook and what we do with these energies is always in our own hands.

FULL MOON LEO, FEBRUARY 9 2020

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on February 7, 2020 at 8:45 AM Comments comments (0)

We will be experiencing a Full Moon in the sign of Leo at 20 degrees on the 9th of February, 2020 at 2:30 a.m. EST

The energies of a Full Moon speak of culmination points or a final product. It is a harvest of the work we have carried out from the New Moon in Leo some six months prior. We can see what has been accomplished, what has fallen short and make adjustments if necessary. The harvest we reap will be reflective of the effort and planning that went into the focus.

This is the time to take control and not to sit back and let others dictate what the next phase may be. Do we move ahead or stay where we are to ponder what the next step should be?

Are we ready and are things in place?

You may have to ask yourself these questions and then if you are comfortable, and do not let ego get in the way of moving forward, move ahead in confidence. It is time to take a leading role and also a time to take responsibility for what your objectives look like at this stage of the game.

Your intentions should be honourable and what you are proposing should come from your heart. Don’t become dictatorial but stand your ground. Believe in yourself and if you need to make some adjustments, make them.

Transiting Pluto is making a quincunx to this position at 23 degrees which might also point towards some opposition. Pluto wants nothing more than to transform what needs changing and in many cases alterations will be put in place when a quincunx is involved. It might be challenging and disruptive to the flow you had in mind, but you should listen to some advice regardless of where this is coming from. Sometimes our best advice comes from within.

Transiting Saturn also plays into this Full Moons placement although it is at 25 degrees.

Transiting Mars is also defining itself at this time at 25 degrees Sagittarius. Saturn and Pluto are still in conjunction but losing their hold both in the sign of Capricorn. There may be some disruption to the flow as Saturn wants to slow things down and Mars wants to push things forward. This could become a dilemma if you let it get in the way. Saturn just wants to be sure that you have done all the preliminary work and that the ground is solid before you proceed. Mars has no restrictions and is also in a favourable trine so some push and pull should be expected.

To find out what areas of life these energies are directed towards in your personal chart, look to see where the 20 degrees Leo is in your chart by house as well as 23 and 25 degrees of Capricorn and 25 degrees of Sagittarius. These areas are promoting focus

Also any planet within 3 degrees of the Full Moons placement in your natal chart especially by conjunction will activate this Full Moon and provide energy and drive. If little or no planets are conjunct or in opposition to this placement, you may find little to no exchange of energies under this energy.

Sometimes these lunar placements have little impact if there is no influence in the natal chart.

ECLIPSE ENERGIES AND INFLUENCE, PART I

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on February 5, 2020 at 8:40 AM Comments comments (0)

We have never taken the opportunity to explain the energies of an eclipse and we have had a few inquiries pertaining to Eclipse’s energies.

It is important to understand that the sign and house positions along with conjunction from the natal chart to the Eclipse positon determine how the energies will affect us. There is a difference in energies if the eclipse is total or partial and whether the eclipse is viewable by us at our position on earth. Those in the area of direct view of the eclipse will have a more powerful influence if connected to the natal chart. However, all eclipses are felt to some degree by everyone and if we were to take notes during their affects we would see how powerful they actually are in our lives.

All eclipses occur with either a Full Moon or a New Moon and are also ties to the North or South Nodes. An eclipse can often be felt or experienced prior to the actual event up to about 2 weeks and the influence will last 3 to 6 months after the eclipse. Some individuals have been known to still feel the effects up to one year after the event.

For the eclipse to have an effect on us personally, we will need to have a planet in our chart or angle connected by conjunction or opposition within three degrees of the degree and minute of the eclipse. The closer to direct and the more planets and angles involved, the stronger the effect will be. If there is no connection within the birth chart then the effects can go by almost unnoticed.

Many become worried when an eclipse approaches and although they can have profound effects, our reaction and attitude to these events or circumstances always play a key role in how we handle the energies at hand.

With all eclipses, as mentioned earlier, the sign and house play significant roles. They determine the area of life involved and the type of energy that is released. Eclipses can be felt by everyone depending on how the natal chart is connected. Not only will the energies affect people, they can also affect nations.

Eclipses are similar to the nature of a Full Moon and New Moon but much more powerful in nature.

As mentioned, an eclipse is connected to the Nodes, either the North Node or the South Node. The North node connection is much more positive than the South Node connection although both can have positive as well as challenging ramifications.

The North Node often brings positive results and you may be luckier, see more opportunities and find its energies exhilarating and exciting. Energy arrives and often good things happen. When the challenging effects are lined up with the North Node then we are prone to excessive and aggressive behaviour and will push too hard for more and even potentially become greedy.

The North Node is associated with Jupiter while the South Node is associated with Saturn.

When the South Node is connected to the eclipse, the positive aspects connected can amount to letting go or releasing what needs to be let go of. Some find clarity in life situations and others who are so inclined, find that spiritual awakenings take place at this time. When the South Node reacts in a challenging sense it can have a depressive effect and we can feel weary and exhausted. This can push us to feeling that we don’t have the will power to continue. People become fearful and distrustful which can lead to depression in some cases.

With the North Node connection the energy is said to arrive while the South Node connection the energies are said to be departing. North Node connections pull in energies and South Node connections release energies or let go of them.

It is also important to look to see which element the eclipse is in by sign (earth, air, fire or water) and also whether it is in a fixed, cardinal or mutable sign.

We will touch on information on the elements and modalities in our post on February 10, 2020.

TRANSITING URANUS CONJUNCT NATAL ASCENDANT

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on February 3, 2020 at 8:50 AM Comments comments (0)

We look further into the planet of change and disruption --Uranus. Uranus is known as the awakener.

When Uranus is connected to the Ascendant often personal changes are set in motion.

The Ascendant is our expression to the world and often our first reaction when we meet others or something new enters our life. This expression is tempered by other factors within the chart that will affect our overall outer expression but unless our Ascendant is softened or weakened by some other influence, it is a reliable indicator of how we represent ourselves.

When a planet such as Uranus conjoins our Ascendant, others may find a difference in how we present ourselves. If you have a Taurus Ascendant in your Natal chart, for example, which at where Uranus is currently found (2020), your outer expression is one of reservation due to inner reflectiveness and slow reaction. You would be sensitive but keep most of this hidden or subdued and others find you reliable, steady, likely sensual and slow to anger. However, if you are angered, an outburst would not be soft and forgiveness is often not easily found. You, if with a Taurus Ascendant, can hold on to hurts longer than would be advisable and the memory is quite in intact.

When Uranus meets up with our Ascendant, personal change is likely and a new found freedom may be part of the unfolding process. It might happen in a rather sudden manner and be somewhat unpredictable in nature. You may show a side of yourself that no one is used to seeing. You are actually searching for change, although a big part of you resists this as the tried and tested are far safer. However, this may be the time to break free of restrictions and limitations in life. A new direction is at hand.

If by chance you are in your early forties or late thirties, you will be going through or have recently been through the opposition of Uranus to itself. In many cases, this points to not only a change on a personal note but also a change involving partnerships.

Uranus fosters the next phase in life which will, over time, offer greater understanding and a clearer path. Although disruptive and often erratic in nature, Uranus’ energies push you forward so that life is altered in such a way that the path ahead is more defined and fruitful. It may take some time to recognize this but as time passes, the path become more evident and clear.

Check to see where natal Uranus is located in your birth chart to get a clearer indicator of what areas of life will be involved in the process if and when transiting Uranus conjuncts your natal ascendant. The way you represent yourself is up for change. A new you is approaching under this aspect.

TRANSITING URANUS IN OPPOSITION TO NATAL URANUS

Posted by holmastrology@gmail.com on January 31, 2020 at 8:45 AM Comments comments (4)

Uranus has a cycle of 84 years when it returns to its natal position. The half way point is known as the opposition which occurs around the age 42. This is what is referred to the mid-life crisis; in astrological terms the Uranus opposition. This is a dynamic period for most people as not only do we experience the Uranus opposition but we are also experiencing transiting Saturn squaring its natal position at the same time.

Uranus has to do with changes of direction often due to a need for freedom in some aspect of our life. In many cases certain aspects of life have become dormant and we are no longer growing in the way we should. Perhaps life has become routine and it seems insignificant in some way. We need a change of direction, something new and exhilarating, a new focus and this is when we make changes that to others may seem radical and often sudden or unexpected.

This can be a time of upheaval and dynamic change which in some ways feels out of our control although in many cases we make the move. This could involve a relationship, a career, the home and family, love relationships, spiritual unfolding and the list goes on. Much will depend on the house transiting Uranus is moving through and also the house where you find your natal Uranus.

There are difficulties in place and this will usually not be a pleasant time in your life although we must also have a look at the aspects in place to the position of natal Uranus and other natal positions. The whole picture always has to be reviewed to determine what is taking place at that moment in time.

You will feel the energies of transiting Uranus up to about 5 degrees approaching and it will last until it is about 2 degrees past being direct. Often you can pinpoint when the energies are the strongest as it approaches becoming direct and something happens in a rather unexpected manner and sometimes we are not well prepared. Jumping is never suggested but you just might and sometimes have regrets immediately after doing so. Usually over the long haul you realize that the steps taken at this time were actually meant to take place and put you more in line with the path you are supposed to take. Uranus is the awakener and that is just what it will do.

Be prepared if you can that is and expect the unexpected at this time in your life. This is a very significant time.
