Information on energies related to Aspects to Pluto Transiting Pluto’s abilities to transform and regenerate are highlighted when it is traveling through the birth chart. There is nothing subtle about Pluto’s influence and you will be quite aware that something needs to be changed or altering when it makes contact. Pluto’s energies are abrupt and disruptive in their actions and the changes that Pluto is putting on the table need to be reworked and transformed so they fit life better. When Pluto is finished transiting through a house or linking up with a planetary placement, its energies will have significantly changed things and usually in a very permanent manner. Pluto is associated with actual death and is usually present in some way when someone passes over. It does not always mean literal death, but it does mean that a condition or life element is no longer suitable and change is needed. Therefore it does signify the death or end of a situation and then the beginning of something new. Pluto, as mentioned, is not subtle in its release and sometimes you have opportunities to make these changes, and other times they just happen with you having little or no control over the situation. If Pluto links up with Mars or Uranus, care is required and focus on not putting yourself into danger's way is important. If there is a square between these planets, there are challenging conditions due to the contact, and they come at you for a reason. Watch for arguments and aggressive behavior especially if Mars is concerned and particularly if the aspect is an opposition. The trine and sextile aspects are not as aggressive and usually suggest transformation at a high level and although somewhat challenging to accept, these transformations will benefit you in the long haul. Uranus is more unpredictable and this is the one you need to watch, if, for example, you are driving a motorized vehicle. Operate with more care than normal and never rush. Do not rush out to drive in fits of anger or after an argument. Take the time to settle yourself down. If you are confronted by an aggressive individual, do not put up a fight unless you have little choice. It is best to walk away whenever possible under this influence. These, of course, are extreme cases and normally, there have to be other aspects suggesting much of the same before these energies are released in a powerful way. There needs to be at least 3 aspects in a chart all saying the same thing before things necessarily happen and much depends on the other planets involved and the angles they are making. However, it can be a rather tumultuous experience and you will learn a lot from it. It seems to be human nature that we learn much more from adverse life conditions than the mild and mellow experiences. We may have to spend a little time meditating on how the energies can be released in a more gentle and positive manner. With this in mind, we will provide some details for each aspect and planet. - Mercury's Return
Mercury's Return MERCURY'S RETURN Mercury is the planet of the mind and deals primarily with communication, the thought process and decision making. It is tied to such things as writing, public speaking, teaching, short trips, transportation such as vehicles and all things related to interaction with others. For all returns, a chart must be prepared for the exact day that the planet in question (Mercury in this case) returns to its original place by sign and degree that is was at the time of birth right to the minute. Some sites will do this calculation for you or you can buy programmes that do this work. The Mercury return usually follows closely to the solar return and occurs once a year. The rising sign is very important and will help define how life unfolds over the year in Mercury related ways. If Mercury is conjunct an angle or several planets, it often suggests an eventful year. Quite often a surge of energy related primarily to Mercury is experienced on the day it returns to its natal position. We would have to check which house Mercury is found in and although it returns to its original position by sign and degree the timing will be different from our birth time so the ascendant and houses will be different from their position in the natal chart. If, for example, the rising sign is Aries, this will be a year of personal activities that can be used to propel us forward in life. Aries always wants to push ahead and strive for personal growth. This could be the year for activities related to signing of agreements, buying an automobile, starting a book or releasing a book, beginning teaching or moving into a programme that will help you achieve what you are trying to accomplish. If we have Cancer on the ascendant, this could be a year that agreements or disagreements occur within the family or within the home environment. This could be a year when nurturing a family member or in contrast a year when we are in need of nurturing. Sensitivity is an important factor at this time and often intuitive experiences are enhanced. Of course things run deeper at this time as emotions are a big part of the process. Don’t forget as with any chart all the defining characteristics have to be taken into consideration. A challenged ascendant or difficult Mercury would suggest a year of some difficulty and decision making may not be easy, but in many ways the mind can still figure out the best route to take. The house and sign position of Mercury will define the area of life involved for the return year and will also define the energies associated with the sign. Don’t forget to also look at the ruling planet of the ascendant as it will give us further information. For example with Sagittarius on the ascendant, we will need to look at where Jupiter is in the return. The placement by house of Mercury (Angular, Succedent, and Cadent) along with the general meaning behind what these placements suggest will also be important. Angular and Succedent as well as Cadent energies are all quite different from one another. If for example using only as a timing device, if Mercury occurs in a cadent house most of the energy will take place in the first 4 months of the year. If Succedent then most of the activity will take place in the middle of the year and if in Cadent things take hold in the last four months of the year. Remember Mercury returns are highlighting Mercurial connections and will only last for one year. Also regardless of how challenging the chart appears, we can always find ways to work with the energy and learn from our experiences. - ASCENDANT OR RISING SIGN
ASCENDANT OR RISING SIGN ASCENDANT OR RISING SIGN The Ascendant Sign or Rising Sign is descriptive of our outside personality, the one we reveal to the world. This will usually differ from our Sun Sign and this is a sure reason why some individuals are seen as quite different from the typical characteristics associated with their Sun Sign personality. The Sun Sign still resonates and is usually more prominent as we get to know and fulfill the characteristics of our true selves. The Sun Sign is you’re inside personality while the Ascendant sign reveals an outer personality that we are willing to reveal to the world. The Ascendant Sign often depicts our appearance and the way we carry ourselves in our outside environment. It is believed at least by this Astrologer that we are meant to merge our Sun Sign with our Rising Sign as well as the sign and house placement of the Moon as we develop and mature. It is with this merging that we can distinguish our true more complete selves and we can represent our true selves in a more authentic manner. The Ascendant sign is also a very significant point when transits and progressions move across or make important aspects to it. The changes and transformations that are often accompanied through the transit connections to this point are very significant to our overall development. Changes in our appearance, our evolution, our ideologies and life concepts as well as changes to relationships with important people all come under careful scrutiny during these transiting times. For example, Uranus crossing over the Ascendant often correlates with major wants for something new and exciting in life. We are often viewed from the outside world as being rather eccentric in our behaviour during powerful transits or progressions affecting this area of our chart. The want to break free from restrictive or old outdated ways or relationships that fall into this category are often by-products of a Uranus transit especially when in Conjunction, Square or Opposition. Uranus is also known as the awakener and many will go through an awakening process as Uranus transits this placement. It is important to also look at the opposing house cusp (7th) and the ruling planet and house placement of your ascendant sign to gain further insight into potential changes taking place in your life. The aspect that the planet is making will define whether it is stressful or an opportunity or just plain easy flow, while the planet will define the type of action that can be anticipated. The house placement of the Ascendant’s ruling planet will also define the area of life that will be affected. Any outer planet that transits this placement will have significant influence on your life. It often takes several years for these slow moving bodies to move out of the orb of influence. Those that are sensitive can feel the approach of the planet by as much as 4-5 degrees and the separation of the link by up to 2-3 degree. The affects will be felt for a long period of time and will change life’s conditions significantly. Often these outer planets signify a complete change in your life’s course and a new beginning. Have a close look at any outer planet making a conjunction in particular, as this is the most powerful of the major aspects. The planet and the sign on the Ascendant will merge and act as an intensifying agent of the conditions already in place in the birth chart. Be ready for change, transformation and a new beginning as these powerful entities begin taking hold in your life. - The moon | holmastrology.com
The Moon The Moon is the ruling planet of the sign Cancer and is also affiliated with the fourth house. The Moon represents the mothering instinct and is linked to the feminine energies within each of us. The Moon deals with primal emotional needs. It is where we nurture ourselves and take care of ourselves on an emotional level. It is where we feel safe within, where we emotionally react to life problems and also find the answers. It provides us with a safe haven, a comfortable and secure emotional foundation that feels like home. It is where we can go and reside in a gentle manner away from the intrusive forces of life and secure a place for ourselves when in times of strife. We could call this the emotional home or safe haven. Feelings of security are linked to the Moon and along with the second house can provide the deepest emotional support that all of us so fundamentally require. The Moon sign and house position depict our emotional reaction to outside stimuli in our lives. For example someone with the Moon in Taurus or in the second house , will find emotional security through building a foundation often based on material gatherings and monetary comfort. Someone who has the Moon in Pisces will secure this emotional structure through an interaction with the higher sources and will find peace through communication with spirit and an inclination to psychic linking and intuitive perception. The Moon also rules the basic habits we form in the formative years. It has to do with our upbringing and often relates directly to the most nurturing parent and how they provided us with early support in childhood. The moon is linked to the past and memories from the past and also how the past has affected us in our world today. Many are tied to how their life was comforted through mothering and taking care of their emotional requirements. While the Sun has to do with our ego and will and conscious selves, the Moon has to do with instinctual response on an emotional level, letting go of the ego and its intervention, and the unconscious mind. The Moon is responsive, reactive and instinctual. It often deals with our inner selves and our emotional being and our sense of self-worth. The Moon is our deepest emotional self and describes our needs, our emotional wants and how we emotionally react to the world around us. The Moon is our mothering side, our nurturing side and our response to the environment. This mothering and nurturing response to the world deals with how we tend to not only ourselves and our emotional needs but also how we tend to the needs of those that are important to us. In its positive responsive state, it fosters emotional interaction, sensitivity and the need to assist others on an emotional level, providing us in turn with self-assuredness also on an emotional level. The Moon is our nurturing requirements being met and then our natural response the world around us in times of need. It fosters emotional kindness, emotional sympathy, emotional compassion and love. In its more negative expression, the Moon has to do with feeling of unworthiness, self-insufficiency, emotion worry, excessive emotional responsiveness and a general feeling of anxiety about the world around us. The Moon by sign and house placement and aspect delineation will define the emotional life's reactions, the emotional state of being and the emotional instinctive reactions to life itself. We should also check to see the Moon’s element (Air, Earth, Water and Fire) and modality (Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable). Astrology 101 The Moon is depicts our emotions. - Descendant or-dc | holmastrology.com
DESCENDANT OR DC The Descendant in an Astrology chart is the opposite axis of the Ascendant and lies on the cusp of the seventh house. The Rising sign or Ascendant is the sign coming over the horizon from the east at birth, while the Descendant is the sign descending on the western horizon at birth. The natural rule of the Descendant is Libra, which is the sign associated with creating balance. This is what the Descendant’s energies pertains to--the need to integrate self with others. Depending on the sign on the cusp of the seventh house which is always exactly 180 degrees from the Ascendant, it will define how we relate to others. As you can imagine, Aries on this cusp would be very different from let’s say Libra on this cusp. The Descendant also defines what we seek in a relationship, what we are looking for in an individual and how we will react to them. On a deeper level, it is said that the sign on the seventh house cusp or Descendant describes the unconscious part of ourselves that we need to seek from within and work on in order to become complete. It is not that these qualities are lacking only that they are hidden or not acknowledged. We have to come to terms with these qualities and bring them to the surface or remove them from our makeup. Through relationships with others, we build on and develop ourselves. The sign on this cusp often describes the type of person we are attracted to, good or bad. It describes the type of person we seem to keep meeting up with, over and over again. An example of this might be if you have Virgo as your Ascendant. You would express yourself in an organized manner. You would be very precise and your attention to detail would be impeccable. You would easily see the faults or shortcomings in others as well as within yourself. You would undoubtedly use this information to decipher yourself as well as others. If your Ascendant were Virgo, your Descendant would be Pisces. With Pisces, you would be attracted to dreamy people, mystical people or people that you feel you need to save in some way. You may be drawn to people who have a difficult time in the so called “real world” and it would be easy for them to use alcohol and drugs to try to escape reality. They would be a very gentle person with an ability to accept others without restriction. They could be psychic, spiritual or an escapists and usually hard cold facts are not easily digested. These energies obviously would vary depending on the overall condition of the Natal chart and the emphasis in certain houses. A detailed examination of the Natal chart is required in order to get a full and clear picture. As you can imagine, we can learn a lot from these ever gentle people and perhaps through these people we can learn not to be so judgemental or find within ourselves the ability to locate only the good aspects of in others and ourselves. We can find out a lot about ourselves through close personal contacts and business relationships, as this would fall under the Descendant as well. We may find that the sign on the Descendant could describe our perfect business partner for a prosperous business or perfect lover eventually leading to marriage. Discover more of yourself by carefully analysing the Descendant in your Natal chart and find hidden characteristics that if allowed to bloom will complete who you are as an individual. This is the highest qualities working at its best from this placement. ASCENDANT OR RISING SIGN IMUM COELI OR IC MIDHEAVEN OR MC Back to Axis or Angular House Cusps Back to Astrology 101

Neptune is a mysterious planet, ruling the sign Pisces. Neptune is very subtle in its nature and is known as the planet of illusion, inspiration and psychic perception. Those with a strong Neptune in their birth chart often have mystical inclinations and psychic abilities. Neptune also has an ability to deceive and colour reality placing rose coloured glasses on many individuals when in transit. Neptune Neptune is a mysterious planet, ruling the sign Pisces. Neptune also has to do with artistic abilities and inspirational writing. It has to do with musical talent and many with strong Neptune inclinations make great actors, as they are able to take on parts loosing themselves within the part that they are portraying. Neptune also rules mystery and many a mystery novel has been written through the influence of Neptune’s imaginary insight. There are the unfortunate ones who indulge in drugs and alcohol in an attempt to withdraw from some of life’s more challenging moments and during these times, Neptune is often found playing havoc in their lives. The twelfth house is the natural ruler of Pisces and Neptune is also connected with this house. The twelfth house has to do with places of confinement and often deals with institutions such as hospitals and even asylums. The twelfth house is known as the dustbin of the zodiac, and this is often the place where we cover up life’s tumultuous conditions with the hopes that in some way they will disappear and this type of action is often facilitated through the influence of Neptune. Dreams and dream psychology are also areas ruled by Neptune and someone with strong Pisces or a number of planets in aspect to Neptune can become so inclined and able to decipher the meanings behind our dreams. Although Neptune through transit often colours the way we are viewing current circumstances, it also provides us with hidden or subdued talents. Through the use of an often overextending perception, abilities can produce psychic understanding about events that we normally are not able to penetrate. Be careful to view your world clearly when Neptune passes over important points in your birth chart. Putting people on pedestals and viewing life through rose coloured glasses is often an offshoot during these unbridled times when Neptune plays games with reality. Neptune also rules doctors, psychiatrists and anyone who goes below the surface of everyday life. If you can find a way to use the penetrating abilities that Neptune offers, you can see through illusion and find the answers that might have been hidden or laid dormant for extended periods of time. Using your intuitive understanding and being open to dialogue from other sources beyond the realms of earth and material living will help you find places that you might not have known existed. Meditation techniques and mystical alignments are key ingredients to unlocking the true potential of Neptune’s deeper side and unlocking channels to the psychic connection we all share. - The Sixth House
The Sixth House The Sixth House The Sixth House is naturally ruled by Virgo , the sign of service rendered to others and this is primarily what the sixth house is based on. It could be considered a somewhat sober house, in that it calls you back to the business of practical living. The fifth house was all about romance and having fun and the sixth house is very real and functions on a much more serious note. In its highest sense, the Sixth House teaches us to love one another through selfless acts of service to others. However to promote this higher level of service, it has to be done willingly. Included in the field of service is our working conditions and environment. This is also a focal point of the Sixth House. Within this setting, we meet up with our working associates. Often with planetary links connected to the Sixth House, they will reveal how we relate to our working atmosphere and contacts. The Sixth House also deals with health matters, although chronic health conditions are connected to the Twelfth House . Much can be assessed in connection with our health when we look at the conditions of the Sixth and Twelfth houses , along with the Ascendant's aspects. The Sixth House is where we have the potential to clean up and strengthen our health through routine exercise programs and healthy diet. The Sixth House can also indicate, depending on conditions surrounding this house, eating disorders. The Ascendant, the Twelfth House and the Sixth House are important areas that can help us to pinpoint physical conditions, although it is always suggested that one seeks medical advice above and beyond Astrological indications. Astrology points the way but outside assistance is always recommended especially when health is a specific concern. Even if the Astrology chart indicate health issues related to these houses, these houses can be transformed into houses of wellness as there are many roads to healing, such as meditation and health consciousness which can be achieved through many avenues. There are many solutions available to issues suggested within the horoscope. The strong aspects (which will be discussed under "Aspects" as we further develop this website) such as the conjunction, square and opposition are the greatest learning tools available to us all. The easy flowing aspects like the sextile and trine create calm conditions and opportunities. We gain so much more from confronting our challenging aspects and making them work for us, instead of against us. We are never at life’s mercy. There are always alternatives. The Sixth house also deals with small animals and our pets, but in most cases the central areas of focus of this house deal with service, health, hygiene and the working environment. - Sun in Scorpio
Sun in Scorpio Scorpio There are three main types of Scorpio people and this is why it is such a misrepresented sign. It is often referred to or designated as the Scorpion whose character traits are often the ones that are less desirable. The sign of Scorpio also has the salamander and the eagle personalities. The Scorpion carries with it traits such as deception and these individuals can harbour qualities that are not to be trusted. They are known for the sexual promiscuity and their sexual trickery or cheating capabilities. They also have a very vengeful side and once crossed, it is best to be on the lookout as they can be quite deceptive and sneaky in their plans to equal the score. You are best not to cross them although in some cases they can be plain spiteful and often very vindictive even without provocation. Jealousy is also a strong character trait and although they feel that it might be all right for them to have clandestine affairs, they would not take it well if their partner were to play the same game. It is rather one sided and although they may be quite aware that it is wrong to carry on this way, they still feel entitled and have difficulties controlling their strong desires. Alternatively, there is also the salamander and the eagle personalities of Scorpio. Many will carry traits of both persona’s but those that have found a way to rise above the Scorpion tendencies can become very altruistic in their natures. Most Scorpio individuals regardless of classification have a need to go beneath the surface and dig deep for answers, and because of this, they make great psychologists, pathologists and private investigators, along with surgeons and in some cases miners. The eagle personalities has found their way past primal urges and because of their tendency to go deep are often found in circles involving the mystical side of life. They are true to the cause of self-exploration and seek out qualities within themselves that can not only benefit them personally but also aid others in their time of need. They are quite loyal to their word, their friends and their lovers. Those that seek spiritual enlightenment are always ready to uncover their deepest and most mysterious character flaws and make dramatic changes and transformations to their character due to the planetary influence of Pluto. Most Scorpio individuals are great at uncovering the truth and they often have a penetrating gaze as though they see past the superficial and see right to the core. This can be a little formidable for those that are overly sensitive. They feel that their privacy is important yet private matter can be alluring to the Scorpio individual for they want to uncover all tendencies hidden within. Most Scorpio individuals have an air of secrecy about them and you will have a difficult time uncovering the deeper facets of their personality. They may even hide their true selves so as to remain a secret and to capture the fascination of others. Nearly all Scorpio individuals have a sensual appeal to them and many are aware of this quality but the eagle type does not abuse this trait. They understand that sexual connections are normal and that the appeal that they have should not be abused. If you are looking for a stimulating individual, one who will be hard to decipher and one who is interested in uncovering the deeper meanings of life and the undercurrents of the psyche, a Scorpio individual would be the individual you are seeking. Astrology 101 Scorpio is ruled by Pluto and co-ruled by Mars as well as the eighth house . Beryl is the stone for Scorpio.
