Information on energies related to Aspects to Pluto Transiting Pluto’s abilities to transform and regenerate are highlighted when it is traveling through the birth chart. There is nothing subtle about Pluto’s influence and you will be quite aware that something needs to be changed or altering when it makes contact. Pluto’s energies are abrupt and disruptive in their actions and the changes that Pluto is putting on the table need to be reworked and transformed so they fit life better. When Pluto is finished transiting through a house or linking up with a planetary placement, its energies will have significantly changed things and usually in a very permanent manner. Pluto is associated with actual death and is usually present in some way when someone passes over. It does not always mean literal death, but it does mean that a condition or life element is no longer suitable and change is needed. Therefore it does signify the death or end of a situation and then the beginning of something new. Pluto, as mentioned, is not subtle in its release and sometimes you have opportunities to make these changes, and other times they just happen with you having little or no control over the situation. If Pluto links up with Mars or Uranus, care is required and focus on not putting yourself into danger's way is important. If there is a square between these planets, there are challenging conditions due to the contact, and they come at you for a reason. Watch for arguments and aggressive behavior especially if Mars is concerned and particularly if the aspect is an opposition. The trine and sextile aspects are not as aggressive and usually suggest transformation at a high level and although somewhat challenging to accept, these transformations will benefit you in the long haul. Uranus is more unpredictable and this is the one you need to watch, if, for example, you are driving a motorized vehicle. Operate with more care than normal and never rush. Do not rush out to drive in fits of anger or after an argument. Take the time to settle yourself down. If you are confronted by an aggressive individual, do not put up a fight unless you have little choice. It is best to walk away whenever possible under this influence. These, of course, are extreme cases and normally, there have to be other aspects suggesting much of the same before these energies are released in a powerful way. There needs to be at least 3 aspects in a chart all saying the same thing before things necessarily happen and much depends on the other planets involved and the angles they are making. However, it can be a rather tumultuous experience and you will learn a lot from it. It seems to be human nature that we learn much more from adverse life conditions than the mild and mellow experiences. We may have to spend a little time meditating on how the energies can be released in a more gentle and positive manner. With this in mind, we will provide some details for each aspect and planet. - Venus' return | holmastrology.com
VENUS' RETURN A Venus return chart that closely matches the natal chart by sign and degree signifies an important year. Venus’ cycle is approximately one year, a little over or under by roughly one month depending on the year. The house position and aspects and especially contacts with the angles define what type of return can be anticipated. When deciphering a Venus return remember to take into consideration that this is a chart which has to do with Venetian matters. These matters will have an influence on love and affection and often speaks of a love interest. Sometimes it speaks of the daughter or a young important female and in some cases on a wider scale is representative of women in general. Venus also has to do with social activities such as marriage and social events such as parties and engagements of importance. Venus also has to do with popularity and material objects such as gifts and acquisitions often referred to as elegant or pleasing to the eye. The house Venus is located in within the Venus return will be an area of interest and much can be said with regards to what this period will be about by its house position. The Ascendant and the placement of its ruler also help uncover the potential that lies within this Venus return chart. The aspects which Venus receives from other planets in this chart define how positive or challenging this period might be. However, it should be noted that Venus in many cases helps to alleviate some conditions especially when linked favourably to the Sun, Jupiter and the Ascendant. Challenging aspects to Venus in the return can affect love connections and also finances but favourable aspects will also affect these areas in a complimentary and positive manner. Remember all challenges found in any chart are put in place to be resolved and they are the ones that hold the greatest lessons which propel us forward in life. All returns are indicative of the beginning of a new cycle and are defined by what the return planet ( Venus in this case) is about. - Mars' Return
Be prepared for action with the Mars return. MARS' RETURN The Mars return to its original placement in the natal chart by sign and degree takes place approximately every two years. Mars in many cases is considered malefic in its expression and often denotes aggressive action and conflicts which on some level require strength and determination. Before we go into the return and its implications and consequences, we have to look at Mars’ placement within the natal chart. Is it well aspected especially by trine or sextile with the Sun, Venus or Jupiter? Is it poorly aspected especially by square or opposition and in some cases conjunct with Saturn, Uranus or Pluto? This will help define what we are working with when determining the influence related to Mars in this return cycle. Because of Mars’ reputation of being a malefic energy, some Astrologers link its place in the natal chart as an area of conflict, but the resolution often can be obtained by facing things head on and believing that inner strength is part of our personal abilities. Mars is certainly in need of steadiness and control as well as direction and has been linked with accidents and struggle often requiring instruction. Many believe that Mars and its energies are something we need to worry about, but once again, we will need to look at the natal chart placement as well as other transiting and progressed factors present at that particular time to have a clear understanding of the energies at hand. Mars is also a timing tool and can be used when analyzing as something might occur and along with the Sun, Uranus and the progressed Moon, we will find that Mars can be quite accurate in determining when the energies are about to be released. Those that are in sync with Mars (Aries rising or Sun in Aries or a strong Mars placement) will find that the energies are more comfortable and easier to work with than for those that are not fortunate enough to have this present in their natal charts. However, it is always wise to set plans before jumping into action as this is when accidents take place or activities turn out less favourable than what we might have wished for. As with all return cycles it is a time for new beginning, setting new goals and plans of action. Mars’ return can help with defining when it is best to move ahead or stay put in our plan of action. In a masculine’s chart, it speaks of male energies and the aggressive instinct depending on what sign and house Mars is found. In a more feminine chart, it often speaks of the masculine spouse or someone who could be considered enthusiastic or aggressive or a prominent masculine figure In both gender charts, it can speak of a young masculine individual; as with Venus, in both charts often speaks of a young feminine individual. In both charts, Mars speaks of the sexual drive and ambitious, enterprising efforts made by individuals. When we are going to experience the Mars return be prepared for action. Sometimes we will need to anticipate activity, and other times, life just pushes us in a direction that often requires action, drive and a personal initiative. - Neptune Retrograde
Neptune Retrograde The outer planets remain in retrograde for longer periods than the inner planets. Those that have Neptune in retrograde in their birth charts will certainly be affected. Those that have Neptune stationary in their birth chart will be even more powerfully affected. “Powerfully” may not be the appropriate word as Neptune’s energies operate in very subtle ways. Its influences are felt often through intuitive channels and the unconscious mind. In direct motion, Neptune often suggests cloudiness with our reasoning, potential deception or we may not be facing facts. In its higher representation is suggests idealism. It also could suggest a romantic involvement often associated with an idealistic view of the partner or situation. It is also linked to artistic abilities coming to the surface. Neptune is linked with fantasy and visions while in direct motion, but its energies turn to reality and dealing with the actual facts when in retrograde. Open-heartedness and level-headedness linked to common sense are terms that could also be associated with Neptune’s retrograde cycle energy. Since Neptune deals primarily with the mystical and spiritual side of our consciousness, during the time when Neptune is retrograde, you may find that you realize more concrete solutions or answers to questions pertaining to these pursuits. This applies particularly to those with Neptune retrograde in their birth charts. Look to see which house Neptune is transiting through during this cycle and also look where Neptune is located in your birth chart. Neptune’s retrograde cycle is approximately 150 days in length, and it spends about 14 years in each sign. Its return cycle is approximately 165 years, so we never experience its return in our lives. About 40 percent of people have Neptune retrograde in their birth charts. As a result, Neptune’s retrograde energies are quite common. When Neptune is in its direct cycle, there can be a cloudiness about life, depending on how it is aspected in the birth chart. There may be deception and deceit or often illusion and disarray when it comes to seeing things as they are. When Neptune turns retrograde, it becomes more genuine and more lifelike as Neptune can be illusionary when direct. It is more reliable and life becomes more real although what you see, at times, may not be all that pleasant. There can be a real feeling of let-down after a period of feelings of idealism and wonder but the truth is what we want, regardless of how it may look. Because of Neptune’s influence, when we view the world as it is, a part of us still wants to see it through rose coloured glasses. There is the unrealistic hope under this retrograde influence that what we see might just vanish; but it will not, and we have to face facts Life becomes more practical and realistic with the retrograde cycle, and this can also include “visions” that are real. This can also include mystical understanding that is also real and identifiable. Neptune retrograde is not a bad thing but it is truth in a broad scope. - Venus Retrograde
Venus Retrograde There is a little less than one and one-half years between Venus’ retrograde cycles. Each cycle lasts about forty days. Venus’s energies are about love and affection and it is also affiliated with beautiful things and our possessions. Venus seeks out comfort and elegance although we always need to look at its sign and house position in the natal chart for complete details. Venus’ energies are connected to our search for peace and tranquility hence its affiliation with Libra and Taurus. When Venus is in its retrograde cycle, it has similarities to the energies of Mars. Naturally, Venus is very passive in its expression while Mars is much more aggressive and pushy. Since Venus is connected to material objectives and love and affection, the push for these things is emphasized although the ability to express love and affection is restricted during the retrograde cycle. Remember retrograde implies that the energies are held back. Personal relationships may not be as easy due to the restrictions on our expression of love and affection. While in retrograde, there is a push, however, to accumulate possessions, and this could include a push towards gaining momentum linked to the finances and acquiring material goods. It has also been said that during the Venus retrograde cycle there can be a tendency to lose something of value, whether that be a personal thing or some love interest. There are, however, no significant indicators that the connection lost cannot be regained. Things may not be lost on a permanent basis but can be regained what was lost once the retrograde cycle is over. Again, it is important to look at the full chart for a clear picture. - The Fourth House
The Fourth House The fourth house naturally ruled by the Moon is the place where we root ourselves through emotional connections with our early upbringing. We gain or lose emotional strength from our early conditioning which is linked closely to our parents, particularly the most nurturing parent. If we had difficulty in our childhood, linked to our parent’s emotional support, this is where we will uncover some of the complications that might have hindered our emotional development. Our early childhood experiences often have great affects on our development into adulthood. Planets found in the fourth house often describe the types of difficulties or attributes we assimilate into our emotional being. If there are difficulties with our emotional response, there are usually indications found in this house as are inner feelings of strength and built in stamina to overcome life’s difficulties. We are conditioned by our early upbringing and build our own sense of comfort through these channels. These conditions often follow us into adulthood and the fourth house speaks of the later part of our lives and denotes end of life conditions. It has been noted that the fourth house indicators are regulated by planetary links to this house and the more planets particularly outer planets ( Saturn , Uranus , Neptune and Pluto ) found in this house, the more introverted and private we become. This is also the house that rules our family life and the home environment conditions through to adulthood. It also entails real estate and property that we own or the type of home we would like to live in and raise our children. The fourth house is also linked to family heritage and our roots. It’s natural ruler is Cancer and there are many attributes that are similar to this sign. Cancer is defined as a nurturing, caring sign, with concerns for family members and also the need to be nurtured. These qualities are very similar to those of the fourth house. The second house deals with security issues, often related to monetary gain and the acquisition of material goods, while the fourth house deals with emotional security at its foundation. The fourth house is linked to the most nurturing of your parent which in most cases pertains to the mother while the tenth house usually is connected to the father. Any planet found connected to or linked with these cusps often speaks of the parents. As planets transit the fourth house cusp or makes connections to planets located in this house, there are often dealings with the home and family. - Pluto
Pluto Pluto Pluto, the powerful planet of transformation and regeneration, holds a very significant energy in any chart. It is an extremely dominant planet and when activated through progression or transit, it is best to let things happen as they will. Any type of resistance to Pluto's energy is futile. Pluto is the ruling planet of Scorpio and speaks of death and regeneration sometimes literally, but usually Pluto works beneath the surface bringing about long overdue change to life. Before these transformations can take place, however, there is usually a period of deep reflection and the shedding of unwanted and unnecessary elements in our lives. Pluto’s action is to break down structures that have taken hold in our lives that now hinder our evolutionary growth. Its actions are finite in the sense that whatever structure that has been built previously will be torn down and replaced with a new structure that is much sounder. To put up resistance to the required changes that Pluto insists are necessary, usually brings about a much more violent and aggressive change to take place than if you were to let go and allow yourself to remain open to the eventual change that will happen regardless. Pluto represents decay on some level or another and is often evident in times of accidents along with Mars and often suggests actual death of an individual or circumstance. If Pluto is strongly placed in your chart, you are the type of individual who seeks transformation on many levels and wants control of your environment. You may be the instigator of required change for others. You may also engage in power struggles throughout your life, and life may also force change on you. People with their Sun in Scorpio , many planetary aspects linked to Pluto, an emphasis of planets in the eighth house or Pluto as the Ruler in their chart will be under the influence of Pluto’s powerful energies throughout their life and particularly when transits and progressions become linked to Pluto in the natal chart Astrology 101 Pluto is the "planet" of transformation and regeneration. Pluto is the ruler of Scorpio and is associated with the eighth house . In astrology we still refer to Pluto as a planet even though NASA has downgraded it to a dwarf planet. - Mercury Aspects | holmastrology.com
Aspects to Mercury We are continually working on our website and will be adding more Mercury aspects in the future. Mercury in the natal chart sits fairly dormant until it becomes activated by a Transit or Progression. Much of its energies deals with mental conceptualization and communication. The mind is ruled by the planet Mercury and our reasoning abilities and schooling often are influenced by the planet Mercury, its sign position, house location as well as the aspects from other planets it receives in the Natal chart. If Mercury is poorly aspected or better still challenged by natal positioning this often indicates someone who may have difficulty concentrating, difficulty with the written word, perhaps difficulty with speaking (i.e. stuttering), etc. This can indicate challenges with communication in general. This is likely corrected and dealt with accordingly as they age and learn to adapt to these difficulties. On the contrary, those with a well-aspected Natal Mercury may have no problem speaking and relating to others and may even have teaching capabilities. They may be well educated and may also be studious. Some may have literary abilities becoming writers, public speakers and so forth. The mind works well, and the IQ may be higher than the norm. They may be good at solving problems, able to communicate easily or easier than others and in some cases (Mercury in Scorpio for example) may be considered deep thinkers. SPECIFIC ASPECTS Mercury, a fast-moving inner planet, moving through the complete Zodiac in approximately one year. This one-year period includes its retrograde cycle as well. Unless Mercury is in its retrograde cycle, its influence is not overly strong and does not have lasting effects. During its retrograde cycle, it appears to move backward and can move over the same location three times. During its stay it can influence the Natal Chart. People often fear Mercury Retrograde, which in fact, only suggests that this is a time of holding back and reviewing before you move forward with goals when it returns to its direct motion. To understand the influence of Transits affecting our Natal Mercury we invite you to read the outer transits of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto making aspects to natal Mercury. - Pluto Retrograde
Pluto Retrograde Pluto Retrograde Pluto moves in and out of retrograde several times each year. It remains in retrograde for approximately 150 days a year, often lasting for several months at a time. Transiting Pluto is a powerhouse in the horoscope, and it intensifies in strength when it makes aspects to planets and points within the natal chart or the progressed chart. The orb for influence in the transit of Pluto can be felt for those with a strong sensitivity up to 5 degrees while approaching (0 degrees being direct) and 2 degrees separating (after being direct and moving away). While in progression, it is most significant when it comes within 15 minutes of being direct. When Pluto moves into the retrograde motion, it intensifies and becomes very powerful. The transformational abilities linked to Pluto increase and the regenerative abilities are enhanced. Any power struggles can also become much more apparent when Pluto is in retrograde, so it is wise to avoid interaction that could lead to intense situations, especially if linked somehow to the planet Mars or Uranus. It may be very challenging to avoid situations that require change especially when Pluto transits a planet while in retrograde. It could be considered a time for cleansing and a time to release any worn out or outdated attitudes. It is as though you are addressing a list of things to do that was written last year. It is wise to review and remove those items that no longer apply and add more important requirements that are relevant to your life today. During retrograde motion, it is a good time for inner study and to dig up issues that have been buried for too long. It might not always be pleasant what you initially find but these challenging conditions will need to be confronted and dealt with. Any patterns in your life that have reached a state of uncontrollable insistence can best be addressed now and dealt with and changed (usually on a permanent basis). Much (as always) depends on which house Pluto is transiting and also the house that Pluto is located in within the natal chart as these will be areas of life that will undergo Pluto’s transformative energies. You may be forced to challenge any issues you dig up and bring to the surface. An example might be communicative challenges if transiting Pluto is moving through the third house or if natal Pluto resides in this house. Also you should look to see where Pluto’s ruling sign (Scorpio) is found as this will also indicate where these changing conditions might become apparent. Those with Pluto retrograde at birth are known to have great recuperative abilities and they can withstand illnesses that might be considered debilitating for many others. We would suggest that you review how Pluto is aspected in the natal chart. Also review the aspects linked to the planets that transiting Pluto is making aspects to during its cycle in order to get a feel for how these areas of life along with the energies associated with the planets involved will affect the overall conditions of this very significant transit of Pluto. In general, it is a good time to get in touch with any issues that need dealing with or cleansing. Review to see what your inner needs may be. It is a time for inner reflection and transformation that usually takes a year or two to unfold. On an outer level, it is also a good time to begin exercise programs and detoxifying diets that help cleanse the body but do not forget your spiritual needs at this time as well. Enjoy the rather intense transformation that often takes place as Pluto moves into direct and retrograde motion affecting planetary links and important positions in your birth chart.
