- Sun in Scorpio
Sun in Scorpio Scorpio There are three main types of Scorpio people and this is why it is such a misrepresented sign. It is often referred to or designated as the Scorpion whose character traits are often the ones that are less desirable. The sign of Scorpio also has the salamander and the eagle personalities. The Scorpion carries with it traits such as deception and these individuals can harbour qualities that are not to be trusted. They are known for the sexual promiscuity and their sexual trickery or cheating capabilities. They also have a very vengeful side and once crossed, it is best to be on the lookout as they can be quite deceptive and sneaky in their plans to equal the score. You are best not to cross them although in some cases they can be plain spiteful and often very vindictive even without provocation. Jealousy is also a strong character trait and although they feel that it might be all right for them to have clandestine affairs, they would not take it well if their partner were to play the same game. It is rather one sided and although they may be quite aware that it is wrong to carry on this way, they still feel entitled and have difficulties controlling their strong desires. Alternatively, there is also the salamander and the eagle personalities of Scorpio. Many will carry traits of both persona’s but those that have found a way to rise above the Scorpion tendencies can become very altruistic in their natures. Most Scorpio individuals regardless of classification have a need to go beneath the surface and dig deep for answers, and because of this, they make great psychologists, pathologists and private investigators, along with surgeons and in some cases miners. The eagle personalities has found their way past primal urges and because of their tendency to go deep are often found in circles involving the mystical side of life. They are true to the cause of self-exploration and seek out qualities within themselves that can not only benefit them personally but also aid others in their time of need. They are quite loyal to their word, their friends and their lovers. Those that seek spiritual enlightenment are always ready to uncover their deepest and most mysterious character flaws and make dramatic changes and transformations to their character due to the planetary influence of Pluto. Most Scorpio individuals are great at uncovering the truth and they often have a penetrating gaze as though they see past the superficial and see right to the core. This can be a little formidable for those that are overly sensitive. They feel that their privacy is important yet private matter can be alluring to the Scorpio individual for they want to uncover all tendencies hidden within. Most Scorpio individuals have an air of secrecy about them and you will have a difficult time uncovering the deeper facets of their personality. They may even hide their true selves so as to remain a secret and to capture the fascination of others. Nearly all Scorpio individuals have a sensual appeal to them and many are aware of this quality but the eagle type does not abuse this trait. They understand that sexual connections are normal and that the appeal that they have should not be abused. If you are looking for a stimulating individual, one who will be hard to decipher and one who is interested in uncovering the deeper meanings of life and the undercurrents of the psyche, a Scorpio individual would be the individual you are seeking. When a planet moves from the 12th house into the 1st it is likely a new beginning. This is an angular house which strongly suggests an area where life is activated & it is not hidden or repressed. Others will be aware that something has happened. We make changes which can even be to our appearance. Our lives go through transformations & relationships are alter. The First House The cusp of the first house is known as the Ascendant, which defines how we represent ourselves to the outside world. It is the first impression one displays to the world upon meeting someone. The sign on this cusp will provide information as to how we will react to the world. We will specifically discuss the Ascendant which as mentioned at the beginning of the First House is the first house cusp. This will be discussed more in depth in "Angles", a page which is yet to come As there are twelve signs in the zodiac, each one having their own persona, the first house has a lot to do with our identity. This personality is not necessarily the individual we are on the inside, represented by our Sun sign, but often identifies us through physical appearance. For example, Taurus individuals are either a little shorter than most or average in height and have a strong body, while a Gemini is usually taller than average and slender in build. As all houses represent an area of life, the first house is defined as a house of action where things happen. When planets through transit or progression pass over the ascendant or cusp of the first house, things happen, changes occur and transformations take place on a personal level, as this house rules your personal self and everything we reveal to the world. The first house often has to do with our vitality and often describes our physical demeanour. The first house may also be reflective of our health, although the twelfth house deals with health as well, but often chronic conditions. When a planet moves from the twelfth house into the first house it is often a time of new beginnings, fresh starts and depending on the planet involved, we can feel regenerated and ready to begin anew. This is an angular house which strongly suggests an area where life is activated, and many times it is not hidden or repressed. Others will be aware that something has happened as we make changes which can even be appearance changes. Our personality undergoes transformations especially when Pluto moves across the ascendant. Neptune is a mysterious planet, ruling the sign Pisces. Neptune is very subtle in its nature and is known as the planet of illusion, inspiration and psychic perception. Those with a strong Neptune in their birth chart often have mystical inclinations and psychic abilities. Neptune also has an ability to deceive and colour reality placing rose coloured glasses on many individuals when in transit. Neptune Neptune is a mysterious planet, ruling the sign Pisces. Neptune also has to do with artistic abilities and inspirational writing. It has to do with musical talent and many with strong Neptune inclinations make great actors, as they are able to take on parts loosing themselves within the part that they are portraying. Neptune also rules mystery and many a mystery novel has been written through the influence of Neptune’s imaginary insight. There are the unfortunate ones who indulge in drugs and alcohol in an attempt to withdraw from some of life’s more challenging moments and during these times, Neptune is often found playing havoc in their lives. The twelfth house is the natural ruler of Pisces and Neptune is also connected with this house. The twelfth house has to do with places of confinement and often deals with institutions such as hospitals and even asylums. The twelfth house is known as the dustbin of the zodiac, and this is often the place where we cover up life’s tumultuous conditions with the hopes that in some way they will disappear and this type of action is often facilitated through the influence of Neptune. Dreams and dream psychology are also areas ruled by Neptune and someone with strong Pisces or a number of planets in aspect to Neptune can become so inclined and able to decipher the meanings behind our dreams. Although Neptune through transit often colours the way we are viewing current circumstances, it also provides us with hidden or subdued talents. Through the use of an often overextending perception, abilities can produce psychic understanding about events that we normally are not able to penetrate. Be careful to view your world clearly when Neptune passes over important points in your birth chart. Putting people on pedestals and viewing life through rose coloured glasses is often an offshoot during these unbridled times when Neptune plays games with reality. Neptune also rules doctors, psychiatrists and anyone who goes below the surface of everyday life. If you can find a way to use the penetrating abilities that Neptune offers, you can see through illusion and find the answers that might have been hidden or laid dormant for extended periods of time. Using your intuitive understanding and being open to dialogue from other sources beyond the realms of earth and material living will help you find places that you might not have known existed. Meditation techniques and mystical alignments are key ingredients to unlocking the true potential of Neptune’s deeper side and unlocking channels to the psychic connection we all share. - Applying & Separating Aspect
Applying & Separating Aspect Applying & Separating Aspects There are three different types of planetary movement in the Natal (birth) Astrology Chart. The applying movement is when the planets are moving together to form an aspect (unless in retrograde), the faster moving planet is behind the slower moving planet. An example of this would be Mars 19 degree Aries and Saturn 20 degrees Aries. Mars moves faster than Saturn and is approaching Saturn and will eventually meet up with Saturn. The separating movement is when the planets are moving away from one another. Using the same planets with Mars at 20 degree Aries and Saturn now at 19 degrees Aries, Mars once again is moving quicker than Saturn and is now moving away from Saturn. Finally there are stationary aspects. The planets that have been in retrograde motion or forward motion at some point appear to be motionless before moving forward or backward in the opposite direction. Even when a Planet is retrograde at birth, it will either be forming an aspect with another planet or separating from an aspect to another planet. The closer the degree is to making an exact aspect, the stronger its energies influence us in our lives. There may be some planets that do not be making an aspect but this is rare. This is known as a unaspected planet. There are varying types of aspects in Astrology. The major aspects (sextile, trine, conjunction, inconjunct, square or opposition) are very powerful in the natal chart. See our Aspects in Astrology. There are Astrologers that have noted that a separating aspect deals with past events or if you like, they represent finished business. Separating aspects have already been dealt with and will eventually fade over time as the aspect continues to separate. Some Astrologers believe that the acknowledgement and correction took place before birth, and we have already made adjustments to overcome whatever the aspect between the two planets describes. The degrees that separate the planets describe how powerful that aspect is in the chart. The closer the aspects the more powerful its energies are. A separating aspect represents perhaps one of the last things that were set in motion in a previous lifetime, but obviously this is speculative depending on whether or not one believes in the possibility of reincarnation. Astrologers understand the significance of applying and separating aspects and will define its intensity and help delineate the meaning of any particular influence in the Birth Chart when this is part of the delineation process. When planets are applying, it is understood that the faster moving planet is moving towards the slower moving planet and suggests unfinished business that will have to be dealt with during the course of this lifetime. Once again, the closer the aspect is to being direct by degree, the more apparent and pressing the energies of the planets involved. We have come into this life to address the energies. Only then can we come to terms with whatever the planets and aspects suggest. The applying aspects become stronger as time passes and the energies will intensify. They push us in directions that will assist us in dealing with the energies represented by these two planetary energies and the aspect they are making. These conditions are dealt with after birth. Applying aspects are suggestive of future endeavours that should be approached and dealt with. This is not to say that all aspects between planets are challenging-- far from it. You have to take into consideration the planets involved and decipher how well they work together and what aspects are involved before making a judgement call on how the energies will affect us. Remember the tighter the aspect, the more significant its influence in our lives. For example, a conjunction between Mars and Pluto is a very strong aspect, but if these planets are separating from one another and are out by 8 degrees compared to an aspect of let’s say Venus conjunct the Sun, (which is a much softer aspect) which is applying and only out by 23 minutes. The latter aspect would have a far greater influence in this individual’s life than the aspect between Mars and Pluto. It is important to weigh out the aspects and recognize whether the aspect is applying or separating when deciphering the energies contained within a Natal chart and how great the impact will be. - Sun in Virgo
Sun in Virgo Virgo Those who are born with strong Virgo character traits view life on a microscopic level. They do not miss anything life throws at them and are constantly analyzing life and current situations. They have an eye for detail on a most minute scale and see imperfection and the tiniest of flaws. They are seekers of perfection in life and in themselves. They are conservative in their approach to life and are rarely gamblers. They like the tried and tested route. Because of their intellectual approach to life and their ability to decipher even the tiniest details, they are excellent problem solvers, although their approach may be considered by some as going to the extreme. They are very service oriented and enjoy helping others and have an uncanny ability to create order out of chaotic conditions. They truly give all of themselves to those in need and can be counted on if they give you their word. They will offer their advice and aid in almost any situation. With their work, they enjoy detail. Accounting and design as well as organizational projects are right up their alley. They are very productive and enjoy being busy and often get noticed for their precise work and problem solving. They certainly seek perfection and can be counted on in doing a good job. Rewards come their way when perseverance is required and they will often take on jobs that are too difficult for others to handle as they can make it work in the very best possible way. They also make excellent writers, analysers and critiques because of their ability to stick with something until it is completed. They are usually good at handling money matters and make great financial advisers. They also make great secretaries or assistants. Order is key for them and will help them in many of their endeavours in life. Many are overly concerned with cleanliness and hygiene as well as diet and health. They can actually become overly conscious in health matters and some can become hypochondriacs if there is too much concentration in this area of life. When this becomes extreme, there is a tendency to worry and become anxious at the slightest ailment. They will have to watch from becoming obsessive and compulsive when it comes to health, especially their own. Too much worry is a direct sign of misalignment and they will need to find a place within where they can rationalise the situation and take some time to relax and let go of this focus. In most cases the problem will resolve itself and calming themselves down is the best route to take. They need to have intermittent rest periods where they can calm down and view things more realistically. This will assist in letting go of potential problems. Virgo individuals are very curious characters who intellectualize life matters. When it comes to their emotions, they usually keep them secret and because of this, often come across as very self-contained and self-reliant. They find their emotional equilibrium by intellectually analyzing their emotions and coming to terms on a mental level. They can use their logic and methodical approach to solve most any problem as long as they keep things in balance and do not let their analytical abilities run away with them. They see faults in others, are especially hard on themselves and their inner circle of friends, although their intent is to help. Sometimes others will require their assistance, but sometimes the Virgo individual will need to stand back and realize that not everyone wants their help. They are totally service oriented and truly want to help. If you have a problem that needs resolution and you just do not seem to be able to figure it out, your Virgo friend can surely help you uncover the solution you are looking for. - Points in the Chart | holmastrology.com
The astrology chart has many important points. The vertex and anti vertex is a point calculated with our birth time indicated fated events or our destiny linked to meeting others who are important in our lives. Points in the Chart Vertex The Vertex and anti-Vertex are points calculated within the framework of the chart, one exactly opposite the other using your exact birth time. They are both connected to meetings with others. There is a feeling of destiny and karmic attached to the significance behind these meetings. Known as points of destiny, sometimes creating turning points in life. These meetings with others seem fateful and, in many cases, it is as if you have known this individual previously. The Vertex has similarities to the Descendent and the Anti-Vertex has similarities to the Ascendant. The Vertex, which is associated with others and our meeting, suggest a feeling that these individuals may fill something that is missing within us, (almost having the effect of assisting in making us feel whole). There is the feeling of having very little control over the situation and our meeting point. It feels fated in some manner, like it was meant to happen. The Anti-Vertex has similarities with the Ascendant, but it seems as though when we meet these individuals there is no choice in the matter and once again fated on some level. With the Anti-Vertex, these people affect us but not with the same impact as the Vertex. The Anti-Vertex people do not make us feel whole, but they can play a significant role in our lives. The experiences we share, once again, feel fated and affect us in personal terms. The Vertex and Anti-Vertex can be used in many different purposed charts, including the Natal chart, the Progressed chart, and the Solar chart. When connected with Planets or points in these charts, the Vertex and Anti-Vertex are extremely significant. The Planet that is contacted especially by Conjunction, but also by Opposition, Trine, Sextile and Square will define the energies brought forward. A couple of examples might be a Saturn contact suggesting someone enters our life who offers more responsibilities and may assist or hold us back in our objectives particularly tied to our career. This person may be older or someone in authority. If the Moon is involved, it could be someone with an emotional connection, or someone who is tied in some way to family and is highly sensitive. Don’t forget it may just be someone who enters your life because of an important experience that is required. Astrology 101

- Sun in Libra
Sun in Libra Libra With this placement strong in your Chart, life is a balancing act. People with this Sun sign always need to find balance in life and particularly within their important relationships. Because of this need for balance and harmony in their life, some of these individuals are often said to change direction in mid-stream, just to avoid confrontation. They have an uncanny ability to see both sides of almost any situation and are great at the art of compromise in order to keep things at peace. They sway from side to side making alterations to keep everyone happy although they are very open to dialogue within their personal relationships and are not afraid to rock the boat when necessary. Justice is their prime concern and they carefully analyse situations to decide what the best route to take is. This makes them comfortable in making decisions on behalf of those around them that require guidance. They see something positive in most circumstances. These individuals make great mediators. In partnership, and as mentioned this is a primary focus of their life, they strive for peace and harmony but often have trouble taking responsibility for their actions. They would rather push the blame on others to avoid taking responsibility for a condition gone astray. Libra people are very social and eager to cooperate for the general good of others. This makes them very approachable and they are usually well liked. Seeking the middle ground is their prime objective and if the truth is unpleasant, they will find a little white lie to absorb the blunt of what the truth might represent. In their mind, these little white lies can protect others as well as themselves and it is okay to use this tactic to save face or hurt. Because of this need for balance and harmony at almost any cost, some Libra individuals have difficulties making a stand. They are often found sitting on the fence and to some of the more assertive signs in the Zodiac, this character trait is viewed as somewhat weak. Libra individuals are always looking for the right way to express life or the best way to deal with life when problems could arise. Harmony is the ultimate condition that they seek and although many have high expectations in life, they are quite willing to let things slide in order to maintain that middle ground that is so appealing to them. It is no wonder that their symbol is the scales of justice. Their goal is to bringing equality to all and fairness into all situations, without pondering too heavily on what these inherent traits represent to the world at large. Balance, harmony and peace are the hallmarks of this justice oriented sign and peace at any cost would be their mantra. Astrology 101 Libra is ruled by Venus and the seventh house. - Planets in Retrograde
Planets in Retrograde Planets in Retrograde All the planets except the Sun and Moon go into retrograde motion. Retrograde suggests that the energies of the planets are not in full expression or allowed freedom of expression. The energies are stifled in some way. In some cases, we can wait for the energies (Planets) to go direct before taking action. In the case of the outer planets however, the retrograde cycle is so long that it would serve little purpose to wait for the energies to go direct. Saturn is the only exception to the rule. When Saturn is in retrograde motion, its positive energies are released. So stability and structure are enhanced and lessons, delays and obstructions are not as readily in place. - MIDHEAVEN OR MC
MIDHEAVEN OR MC MIDHEAVEN The midheaven also known as the cusp of the tenth house is a very sensitive area in the natal chart. Any planet in transit (the movement of planets through the zodiac) particularly outer planets, (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) or inner planets that are in retrograde motion (appear to be moving backwards) that conjunct, square or are in opposition to this point have powerful influences in our lives. In many cases Uranus, Neptune and Pluto will remain in this critical degree for a year or two having a significant influence on our occupation, our standard of living, our goals, aspirations and our status in life. Uranus often produces unexpected, sudden events when it makes a significant aspect to this critical degree. Neptune tends to cloud these areas of life making things unclear or it can add a mystical approach, while Saturn tends to create challenges, obstacles or lessons that need to be overcome. We are tested in these areas. Pluto transforms and may cause disruptions although much of what happens is beneath the surface until it makes a direct contact to this degree. The trine of these planets to the Midheaven or also known as the MC often provides opportunities and good luck with an easy flow into these areas of life, depending on what other aspects within the chart. The opposite house (4th) is often also affected, as when these aspects are making contact to the MC, they are also making an aspect to the fourth house cusp. The fourth house deals with the home and family particularly the mother while the tenth house usually identifies the father. The tenth house usually identifies the most dominant parent while the fourth house is usually the more submissive and protective parent. A conjunction to the tenth house will also present an opposition to the fourth house cusp and oppositions usually deals with something related to or coming from someone else. If, for example, Uranus were conjuncting the IC, it would be in opposition to the MC. We could, as a result, expect changes sometimes drastic in nature to the home and family, such as a move and influences in our occupation and status in life. These changes could be of a rather sudden nature and a need for freedom and breaking free in order to create change would be on the agenda. Much would depend on the overall conditions of Uranus in the birth chart and its location by house and sign. The MC, the Ascendant, the Sun, the Moon and the progressed Moon are often used to rectify a birth time, especially when Uranus and Mars conjunct the MC. Uranus and Mars often indicate something happening on the exact day when it becomes direct especially in conjunction. The progressed Moon moves one degree a month also assisting with pinpointing a birth time. Uranus really seems to disrupt activity related to the specific house cusp. The only guaranteed is something unexpected and sudden will occur with Uranus making contact which often causing disruption into that area of life. Be ready for change, disruption, transformation and activity when the MC becomes activated through transit or progression. Although the changes that take place may be disruptive, agitating and sometimes chaotic in their nature, in most cases, these changes are a requirement. It is best not to put up too much of a struggle, especially when Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are making contact to this area of life. In a year or so after the contact, you will realize that the transformations to your life and disruptions were beneficial to your overall evolution and were requirements brought on to enforce growth on a subconscious and soul level. PLANET ON THE MIDHEAVEN Any planet which is found to be conjunct (same degree) to the MC or Midheaven (2 degrees conjunct from the ninth house or 5 degrees conjunct from the tenth house) has a profound effect on our goals in life and our drive to succeed or our drive to make a name for ourselves. The closer this planet is to the MC, the stronger its influence will be. Since the MC is connected closely to our profession and public status, this planet or planets will influence our ability to succeed. Also look at any aspects from other planets to the MC or any planet that fits this conjunct criterion for more information on the energies of this aspect. These natal statements will certainly colour our profession and our ability to achieve in life. It has been noted that around 5 percent of the general population has this conjunction within one degree of the Midheaven. If you have for example Saturn within this orb of this Midheaven conjunction, there would be obstacles and challenging conditions linked to making a mark in life or achieving recognition for your efforts. Saturn, however, does offer great potential when you work meticulously and conscientiously towards your objectives. If you have put forth great effort, the likelihood for success is there but there may be some type of delay in reaching your goals in some way. We have the potential to make any aspect work positively in our life regardless of challenges attached. We may just have to work harder and have faith in our own abilities, however. If, for example, Jupiter is conjunct the MC, the potential for growth and expansion as well as some good luck especially if the aspects from other planets also point in this direction, will be increased. The sign and planetary link on the MC defines, in part, our occupation and drive to succeed. Having Taurus or Aries on the cusp of the tenth house or having Saturn or Jupiter in this place would certainly have a profound and different approach to how we would address our push for advancement and also our occupation’s potential. There are other factors that can determine what we might want to do for a living, such as our Sun sign and house position, our Ascendant as well as our Nodal positions, but the first place to provide us with direction would be the MC and any planet conjunct its position. Many famous people have planets conjunct this position in their chart. The Midheaven’s sign, any planets conjunct this positon and the ruling planet of the MC play significant roles in determining what might fit into our occupational profile. It also should be noted that if any angle especially the MC or ASC degree falls in the “Aries point degree”, the potential for recognition (even heightened potential for fame) is increased. The Aries point is any angle which is from 0 to 1.5 degrees in a cardinal sign (Aries, Caner, Libra or Capricorn). The closer to exact (degree), the stronger the possibilities. - The Fifth House
The Fifth House The fifth house in astrology deals primarily with the act of pursuing enjoyment and pleasure in life. This can be found through many avenues of expression. The greatest of these expressions is found in the ability to express oneself without prejudgement and with ease. This is often released when the fifth house is activated through artistic endeavours such as dance routines or through a pursuit in music. Acting is also connected to the fifth house and in many cases many well-known actors of today have strong planetary influences linked to this house. This is the house of creativity. The eleventh house is connected to love received and the fifth house has to do with love given. This house is an expression of love that is given through romantic love affairs, although not linked to marriage. Marriage is a further continuation of love and is linked to the seventh house . The love given also can be spread through the love we have for our children, and this house often speaks of our children and procreation. Those with strong connections to the fifth house, either through planetary influences found in this house or by planets making aspects to these planets or the ruler of the fifth house cusp, will display many of these characteristics in their persona. Again this house is the house of pleasure and in many cases is also associated to gambling, speculation and a willingness to take financial risks It basically speaks of emotional enhancement through acts of playful interaction which provide enjoyment in our lives. Teaching abilities are also part of the fifth house foundation and anyone with a creative flair can do well in areas where teaching others can be utilized. Those with strong energies linked to the fifth house express some Leo characteristics as the fifth house is naturally ruled by the sign Leo . As a result, an individual with a Capricorn Sun with strong planetary links to the fifth house will be much more flamboyant and fun loving than the usual security minded Capricorn . The Capricorn tendencies of working to make a name for themselves may still be prevalent, but many of this individual's gifts would be found in areas where their self-expression can take them up that ladder of success which is so fundamentally essential to many Capricorn individuals. This Capricorn , strongly influenced Leo individual would not be as serious, would take chances and would be much more fun loving than the traditional Capricorn individual.
