  • The Eighth House

The Eighth House The eighth house is rather a mysterious house, although not quite as mysterious as the twelfth house . It is considered an occult house and many undertones related to the mystic have their origins in this house. The occult is closely linked to this house, as it is naturally ruled by Scorpio , which has its routes buried in the psychic underground This house is ruled by the planet Pluto . Pluto regenerates and causes one to delve deep into one’s own psyche and discover the undercurrents that push and pull us to where we are meant to go throughout our lives. Pluto is all about transformations, and life and death issues which is closely linked to the eighth house. Death and rebirth can be brought forward on many levels. This house deeply relates to death and rebirth. By the time a transiting planet passes through this house, we will have undergone a transformation which will focus on the energies of the planet transiting this house. If there are planets located within this house, such as the Sun, we will experience great changes to our core personality, especially if Uranus or Pluto are the planets transiting our Sun in this house. This house offers support and an interest to uncover our most inner characteristics which are found deep inside that places that we may not venture often. When an outer planet is transiting through this house, we may be forced to dig up issues that have been locked up in our subconscious for years. The support that this house speaks about occurs when we confront these so called demons that have been dormant for years and face them head-on to transform them into something that can assist us in our overall growth This is also the house of legacies, wills, inheritance, alimony and taxes. Depending on what needs to surface while a transforming planet such as Pluto passes through this area of our chart, these areas will be brought to the surface. Other people’s money is governed by this house as well as joint finances. Often these types of issues are resolved by the time a transiting planet passes through this house if there is a connection to these matters. This is the house of the unspoken word, and often there are other powers related to spiritual connections associated to this house. People with many planets in this house natally often have a marked increase in psychic experiences and especially when linked to any signs that are in the element of water. This is a powerful house and often the necessary changes that need to take place in a person’s life unravel during times when planets are transiting through this house. It usually takes a little time to uncover all the transformations that have taken place, as much lies beneath the surface and you will have to uncover the hidden messages that may be revealed during transits through the eighth house. Sex is also under the domain of this house and much can be uncovered by the study of this house to ascertain the sexual undercurrents in a person’s life. The sign on the cusp will help to uncover much of these sexual undertones of the individual and how they respond to sexual "content" entering their lives. Uranus Uranus, the planet of revolution and sudden often drastic change, can often causes havoc in people’s lives when in transit. It is the ruler of Aquarius the water barer, and is commonly known as the awakener. Its influence functions as a huge factor in making necessary changes in your life. Uranus makes changes in areas of life that have outgrown their purpose and require alteration. Uranus held to liberate us from anything that could be considered traditional or restrictive in nature. It creates a desire for the new and unique and often produces this in unexpected and in unconventional ways. Uranus moves through each sign in approximately 7 years and takes a full 84 years to circle the zodiac. During its movement it creates quick results and a feeling of liberation and freedom from restriction. Uranus governs universal brotherhood and is humanitarian in its nature. It will force you to have an honest look at life's issues and then make necessary changes. If you choose not to adhere to what is being proposed, it often acts in a much more abrupt manner and in a manner that will be often out of your control. It is the higher octave of Mercury and therefore is considered a planet linked to the mental process. It deals a lot with potential outcomes and is future oriented. Uranus pushes us to come out into the open and express our uniqueness and creativity as well as advanced mental quickness and agility, similar to Mercury , although the thinking process may be considered bohemian in its nature. It rules electricity and anything electronic, such as computers and technology in its newest innovation. • Mercury

Mercury Mercury Mercury in the natal chart by sign and house position can vary a great deal. We will primarily discuss the planet Mercury in this section. The planet Mercury is associated with the mind's focus and our attention. Its primary function is the act of communication, both on the receiving end and on the giving end. Mercury also has a lot to do with what could be termed as our everyday living, and our connections with the outside on an immediate level. Mercury’s house position in the natal chart and its sign position indicate something about the way we think. It also has a lot to do with the learning process and how we become aware and absorb the information that the mind is incorporating into our point of focus. Mercury can be interconnected with our schooling. For example, if Mercury is poorly aspected in the natal chart, we may have some difficulty completing our schooling. We could have problems with concentration, or the written word would not come as easily to us as it would to someone who has a well aspected Mercury. Knowing this can be helpful and assist us when our children are having difficulty understanding or focusing on their schooling. Mercury has very little to do with feelings as it relates primarily on the non-verbal level. In some cases if mercury is in a very receptive sign (usually water signs) one can pick up information on other levels, such as telecommunication or through psychic channels. The planet is an important factor in consciousness raising, as Mercury can be associated with making some areas of life apparently unconscious more conscious. Gemini and Virgo are both ruled by the planet Mercury and if you know any people with their Sun , Moon or rising signs (Ascendant) in either Gemini or Virgo , you may find that the mind is a strong active force in their lives. • The Sixth House

The Sixth House The Sixth House is naturally ruled by Virgo , the sign of service rendered to others and this is primarily what the sixth house is based on. It could be considered a somewhat sober house, in that it calls you back to the business of practical living. The fifth house was all about romance and having fun and the sixth house is very real and functions on a much more serious note. In its highest sense, the Sixth House teaches us to love one another through selfless acts of service to others. However to promote this higher level of service, it has to be done willingly. Included in the field of service is our working conditions and environment. This is also a focal point of the Sixth House. Within this setting, we meet up with our working associates. Often with planetary links connected to the Sixth House, they will reveal how we relate to our working atmosphere and contacts. The Sixth House also deals with health matters, although chronic health conditions are connected to the Twelfth House . Much can be assessed in connection with our health when we look at the conditions of the Sixth and Twelfth houses , along with the Ascendant's aspects. The Sixth House is where we have the potential to clean up and strengthen our health through routine exercise programs and healthy diet. The Sixth House can also indicate, depending on conditions surrounding this house, eating disorders. The Ascendant, the Twelfth House and the Sixth House are important areas that can help us to pinpoint physical conditions, although it is always suggested that one seeks medical advice above and beyond Astrological indications. Astrology points the way but outside assistance is always recommended especially when health is a specific concern. Even if the Astrology chart indicate health issues related to these houses, these houses can be transformed into houses of wellness as there are many roads to healing, such as meditation and health consciousness which can be achieved through many avenues. There are many solutions available to issues suggested within the horoscope. The strong aspects (which will be discussed under "Aspects" as we further develop this website) such as the conjunction, square and opposition are the greatest learning tools available to us all. The easy flowing aspects like the sextile and trine create calm conditions and opportunities. We gain so much more from confronting our challenging aspects and making them work for us, instead of against us. We are never at life’s mercy. There are always alternatives. The Sixth house also deals with small animals and our pets, but in most cases the central areas of focus of this house deal with service, health, hygiene and the working environment. Astrology 101 The Sixth house is naturally ruled by Virgo . It is the house of SERVICE and HEALTH The First House The Second House The Third House The Fourth House The Fifth House The Seventh House The Eighth House The Ninth House The Tenth House The Eleventh House The Twelfth House

  • Sun in Virgo

Sun in Virgo Virgo Those who are born with strong Virgo character traits view life on a microscopic level. They do not miss anything life throws at them and are constantly analyzing life and current situations. They have an eye for detail on a most minute scale and see imperfection and the tiniest of flaws. They are seekers of perfection in life and in themselves. They are conservative in their approach to life and are rarely gamblers. They like the tried and tested route. Because of their intellectual approach to life and their ability to decipher even the tiniest details, they are excellent problem solvers, although their approach may be considered by some as going to the extreme. They are very service oriented and enjoy helping others and have an uncanny ability to create order out of chaotic conditions. They truly give all of themselves to those in need and can be counted on if they give you their word. They will offer their advice and aid in almost any situation. With their work, they enjoy detail. Accounting and design as well as organizational projects are right up their alley. They are very productive and enjoy being busy and often get noticed for their precise work and problem solving. They certainly seek perfection and can be counted on in doing a good job. Rewards come their way when perseverance is required and they will often take on jobs that are too difficult for others to handle as they can make it work in the very best possible way. They also make excellent writers, analysers and critiques because of their ability to stick with something until it is completed. They are usually good at handling money matters and make great financial advisers. They also make great secretaries or assistants. Order is key for them and will help them in many of their endeavours in life. Many are overly concerned with cleanliness and hygiene as well as diet and health. They can actually become overly conscious in health matters and some can become hypochondriacs if there is too much concentration in this area of life. When this becomes extreme, there is a tendency to worry and become anxious at the slightest ailment. They will have to watch from becoming obsessive and compulsive when it comes to health, especially their own. Too much worry is a direct sign of misalignment and they will need to find a place within where they can rationalise the situation and take some time to relax and let go of this focus. In most cases the problem will resolve itself and calming themselves down is the best route to take. They need to have intermittent rest periods where they can calm down and view things more realistically. This will assist in letting go of potential problems. Virgo individuals are very curious characters who intellectualize life matters. When it comes to their emotions, they usually keep them secret and because of this, often come across as very self-contained and self-reliant. They find their emotional equilibrium by intellectually analyzing their emotions and coming to terms on a mental level. They can use their logic and methodical approach to solve most any problem as long as they keep things in balance and do not let their analytical abilities run away with them. They see faults in others, are especially hard on themselves and their inner circle of friends, although their intent is to help. Sometimes others will require their assistance, but sometimes the Virgo individual will need to stand back and realize that not everyone wants their help. They are totally service oriented and truly want to help. If you have a problem that needs resolution and you just do not seem to be able to figure it out, your Virgo friend can surely help you uncover the solution you are looking for. • Neptune Retrograde

Neptune Retrograde Neptune Retrograde The outer planets remain in retrograde for longer periods than the inner planets. Those that have Neptune in retrograde in their birth charts will certainly be affected. Those that have Neptune stationary in their birth chart will be even more powerfully affected. “Powerfully” may not be the appropriate word as Neptune’s energies operate in very subtle ways. Its influences are felt often through intuitive channels and the unconscious mind. In direct motion, Neptune often suggests cloudiness with our reasoning, potential deception or we may not be facing facts. In its higher representation is suggests idealism. It also could suggest a romantic involvement often associated with an idealistic view of the partner or situation. It is also linked to artistic abilities coming to the surface. Neptune is linked with fantasy and visions while in direct motion, but its energies turn to reality and dealing with the actual facts when in retrograde. Open-heartedness and level-headedness linked to common sense are terms that could also be associated with Neptune’s retrograde cycle energy. Since Neptune deals primarily with the mystical and spiritual side of our consciousness, during the time when Neptune is retrograde, you may find that you realize more concrete solutions or answers to questions pertaining to these pursuits. This applies particularly to those with Neptune retrograde in their birth charts. Look to see which house Neptune is transiting through during this cycle and also look where Neptune is located in your birth chart. Neptune’s retrograde cycle is approximately 150 days in length, and it spends about 14 years in each sign. Its return cycle is approximately 165 years, so we never experience its return in our lives. About 40 percent of people have Neptune retrograde in their birth charts. As a result, Neptune’s retrograde energies are quite common. When Neptune is in its direct cycle, there can be a cloudiness about life, depending on how it is aspected in the birth chart. There may be deception and deceit or often illusion and disarray when it comes to seeing things as they are. When Neptune turns retrograde, it becomes more genuine and more lifelike as Neptune can be illusionary when direct. It is more reliable and life becomes more real although what you see, at times, may not be all that pleasant. There can be a real feeling of let-down after a period of feelings of idealism and wonder but the truth is what we want, regardless of how it may look. Because of Neptune’s influence, when we view the world as it is, a part of us still wants to see it through rose coloured glasses. There is the unrealistic hope under this retrograde influence that what we see might just vanish; but it will not, and we have to face facts Life becomes more practical and realistic with the retrograde cycle, and this can also include “visions” that are real. This can also include mystical understanding that is also real and identifiable. Neptune retrograde is not a bad thing but it is truth in a broad scope. • Saturn's return | holmastrology.com

SATURN'S RETURN Saturn takes approximately 29 years to complete one full cycle around the Sun. Saturn has a profound impact in our lives. It produces situations that can be stressful (if we so allow) and presents us with lessons whenever it (Saturn) becomes activated in our charts. Saturn is the teacher and it presents us with a crossroad in our development. We are forced to take a good look at our lives and we should make any needed changes when Saturn suggests it. These times can be very trying and can last a significant period of time, especially if there are other planetary forces at work during the same period. We have touched on houses and their energies. Depending on which house Saturn is located in within your birth chart and what aspects it is making to other planets, these particular areas of life (houses) will become activated. The intensity and duration depends largely on the other planets that are stimulating the area, how long they transit and what aspects (aspects are angles between planets) they make to each other. Saturn can also have a lasting effect if, for example, it goes into its retrograde cycle while making an aspect in the natal chart. If you are going through a stressful period and you are between the ages of 28-30, 57-59 or 86-88, you are experiencing your Saturn’s return. At Holm Astrology, we go deep into your Astrology Chart to look at how Saturn’s return period is or will affect you. We can assist with an understanding of the lessons being tabled by locating Saturn’s position in your chart and its natal aspects, its transiting aspects and the duration of its influence. Armed with this information, you can better understand the lessons at hand and utilize the energies available. When Saturn has completed its cycle, you can be certain that a new person will emerged with a greater understanding of self and experiences (now behind you) that should have been well learned. Also Saturn will usually offer a more stable and secure structure to your life as it settles in after its initial impact of returning to its birth position. • Outer Planet Return

Outer Planet Return THE OUTER PLANETS' RETURN CYCLES (URANUS, NEPTUNE & PLUTO) The outer planets also have return cycles although the only one we might experience would be the Uranus return which occurs around the age 84. The remaining outer planets (Neptune and Pluto) have much longer cycles and we would never live long enough to experience these returns. We can, however, experience sextiles, squares and some minor aspects from these planets to their natal positions. The outer planets move slowly and they are more connected with generations (affects many people at the same time). The main difference in their influence will be their alignment with other planets, their house positions and aspects to angles in the birth chart and through transit. This will be how they interact in our personal chart. The Uranus opposition is quite notable and because of this, we will touch on it here. The Uranus opposition occurs in and around the age of 42. Some individuals experience this opposition as early as 38 and others can have it as late as 44. This is known as the mid-life-crisis in layman’s terms. It speaks of a need to break free of anything that is restrictive and there is a strong desire to begin something new and unique. If you are going through a stressful period and you are between the ages of 28-30, 57-59 or 86-88, you are experiencing your Saturn’s return. Some individuals consider the influence of this aspect "irrational". What takes place comes from within and there is a strong need for change or even a revolution of sorts because life has become stagnant and no longer satisfies our need for growth. People have been known to pick up suddenly and change jobs or leave partnerships that have been in place for long periods of time. To some this may be completely out of sorts but to others not so unusual. Much depends on the rest of the chart by natal positioning. Uranus is the planet of unpredictability, and we can expect the unexpected in whatever areas of life (houses influence) are involved at the time. Things may take unusual turns and move in erratic manners. The events are often sudden and unexpected by those around the people involved. The main purpose of this timing factor in our lives is connected to the soul's need for growth and sometimes new experiences will be just what is needed. It is best not to worry about life situations as our attitudes always have a big hand in what unfolds. Expect some change under this influence and always know that these changes are put in place for our greater good, no matter how things look under the aspect's influence.
