MINDFULNESS OR IMPULSE

Life comes with many rules.  Some seem reasonable and others, it is hard to understand why they are in place.

There will be times when we know it is essential to speak up to help change our lives, our world or specific situations in our life for the better.  Parents, management, government, etc. that set the rules can be rigid and steadfast to old rules, but it is imperative to find ways to share our thoughts, especially in ways not to ruffle egos if we want to be heard.  Acting on impulse may not be the best way. After all, change is what we want, not recognition. We can leave our egos out of the equation as well.

Mindfulness or Impulse

The way we approach things is important.  With the right attitude and with mindfulness, we can help create favorable change.  It may feel restrictive with this approach, but it is far more important to accomplish what we set out to do instead of creating blockades because of our approach.

Most people are open to suggestions. The old saying goes, “You get more bees with honey than you do with vinegar”. 

There are many ways to get your point across.  Forethought and a gentle, respectful but firm approach is worth consideration.

HUMAN INTERACTION

Many individuals have grown uncomfortable interacting with others face to face. It may be as a result of the pandemic, it may be our reliance on technology or it may be due to other reasons.

It might be time to reacquaint ourselves with direct human contact and enjoy human interaction once again.

Human Interaction

Human interchange is important to us as a whole. We need community.  It has been essential to our development as the human race. At our core, we have a need to belong. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, but we all benefit from interaction with others.

Overall, humanity is good at its core. Our intuitive perception often warns us of those that might not have our best interests at heart. It is imperative to listen to the little voice inside that gives us these warnings.  We all have guides that help us along our road of life, no matter how alone we might feel.

It is time to truly start living again. Step away from worries and concerns, from anxiety and fear, and step back out into living as a community.

REAR-VIEW MIRROR

Occasionally, we may wish things had stayed the same, and we try to live while looking in the rear-view mirror. There are other occasions when we thank our lucky stars that we are out of past situations, and they are behind us.

Whether these were pleasant times or challenging times, for some individuals it does not seem to matter. They hold on to yesterday. 

Rear-view Mirror

The past is gone and will never return in its past glory or in its failed ventures (however you view it).  People leave us, times change, and we work our way through these temporary interchanges.  It is important to move forward without holding on to the past. Living in the past serves no current productive purpose.  The past taught us valuable lessons that we should utilize in our current ventures but we can’t venture forth without letting go.

Even looking towards our future and thinking in terms of what might be is somewhat futile. We really have little idea of what lies ahead.  This does not mean that we should not be prepared for our future but there will be many twists and turns that will be unforeseen.  Plan but be flexible.

All we truly have is the ever-present now. Living in the moment allows us to live to the fullest.  Be here now and experience the moment.  It is all you really have. Stop looking in the rear-view mirror!
