The T-Square is an astrological configuration involving 2 or more planets in opposition (180°) with one another & both making a square (90°) to a third planet. This configuration can also be created in part by angles. All 3 planets and/or angles should be within the same mode (Fixed, Mutable or Cardinal). The aspects creating the T-Square should not have an orb any greater than 10°. 3° or less is considered a tight orb. Aspects in Astrology T-Square The T-Square is an astrological configuration involving two or more planets in opposition (180 degrees) with one another and both making a square (90 degrees) to a third planet. This configuration can also be created in part by angles found within the chart. All three planets and/or angles should be within the same mode (Fixed, Mutable or Cardinal). The aspects creating the T-Square should not have an orb any greater than 10 degrees and the closer the angles are to exact, the stronger the influence of this configuration. Three degrees or less is considered a tight orb. The T-Square is considered less influential if the planets are in different modes, or if one of the points creating the T-Square involved is an angle (such as the Ascendant or Midheaven). The T-Square, although considered a challenging aspect, does provide its recipient with motivation. Through applied efforts, the energies from this aspect will often produce viable results and a general ability to achieve in life. As this configuration has three planets creating it, when the energies are not expressed in their proper function, the planets becomes out of balance, leaning too much on one of the three directions. The area of life where the focal planet (which is the planet receiving the square portion of the T-Square) is found in the chart is often too accentuated and those with this aspect in their chart tend to put all the weight on the opposite area of life of where the “square” planet is found. In other words, if the focal planet (the one receiving the two squares) is in the third house, we tend to focus our attention on the area of life represented by the ninth house. The area of life, described by the focal planet, its sign and also its house position can either be used creatively or become a source of frustration. Using the energies of the focal planet as they are intended to be use is highly suggested. The T-Square needs activity in order to function well. As a result, you have to use the energies of the focal planet in a creative manner. A T-Square used creatively is often found in the charts of very prosperous and/or up and coming individuals. It is often noted that the focal planet is the most dominant planet in the chart and must be utilized in a favourable manner in order for results to be achieved. If not used properly, the energies of the focal planet can become a “thorn in the person’s side” and often create conflict and struggle in this person’s life. It is suggested that the area (house) opposite the focal planet needs to be developed in some way so that balance is created. Individuals with a Cardinal T-Square have a tendency to bulldoze their way through any type of crisis in their personal lives. These individuals need to find ways to balance and understand the needs of other people along with their own needs. They need to understand that other people have their own perspectives and agenda and are also capable of deciding which way they may wish to move and of their own accord. The Cardinal T-Square operates in a similar fashion to the energies of the sign Aries. People with a Fixed T-Square aspect operate similar to the energies of the sign of Taurus and have strong willpower and determination to succeed. They build up their strength over a period of time or concentrated thought and then plunge into action. They often need to find ways to release their energy constructively and also develop sensitivity towards other people’s needs. Those with a Mutable T-Square have similar qualities of Gemini and are adaptable, changeable, versatile and restless. These individuals are influenced greatly by those around them. They will need to find balance in the way that they rely on others and understand that they can rely on themselves much more than they give themselves credit for. These individuals also need to stay the course in one direction rather than changing their minds midway and moving on to something new. Back to Aspects Back to Astrology 101
- About Us
About Us Holm Astrology's goal is to educate people about the science of Astrology and to provide our clients with the proper tools to accomplish and/or overcome anything in life. Self-understanding is the first step. Let Astrology offer insights to assist with your choices! About Us Peter Holm is an Astrologer, a teacher of Astrology, an intuitive card reader, a life counselor, a Reiki Master, a Practitioner of automatic writing and certainly a lover of life. Peter Holm’s passion for Astrology began to develop in the early 1980’s when he was advised by an “other worldly message” that he could be an Astrologer if he so wished. From the moment of that message, there was no looking back. Peter still continues his studies today some 38 years later as the science of Astrology is an endless study. Upon retiring from his “job to support his family”, Peter Holm nurtured and developed Holm Astrology into a reputable business but most of all, into a vehicle to fulfill his passion to help others Peter Holm wanted to share the knowledge that he has accumulated over the many decades and as a result of the “push” by several of his clients, he began to teach Astrology. Please see our calendar for dates of upcoming classes. A primary must in Astrology is the understanding that you cannot confuse an Astrology chart reading with the general information contained in a typical newspaper clipping or online sentence that speaks and predicts so generally for each Sun signs. Astrology is so much more than our Sun Sign. You may have your sun in Gemini, for example, but if you have several planets in Aries or several planets in the first house of your chart (ruled by Aries) you will relate far better to the qualities of Aries than you would with the characteristics of a Gemini sun sign as in our example. As a child, Peter Holm spoke frequently of spirits and issues that were not openly received at the time but he had someone in particular who listened to him. Without this positive influence, his gifts may have been stifled as they are with so many others that are told that they are “being silly” or they are told to “stop lying”. He is thrilled today that the world is become far more open to life beyond this material existence. As he has matured, Peter Holm has grown into himself and his gifts. He now is in tune to people’s energies and the quite voices of his guides and those spirits that have advice and information to pass on. Peter utilized the use of oracle cards to conduct intuitive readings which can be carried out in person or over the telephone or in your home as a group party (each participant's reading is done privately). Oracle card readings can also be combined with Astrology chart readings which brings two tools together to provide an even more extensive experience. Peter Holm’s focus is to assist those that come to him on their journey. All of the tools at Peter Holm's disposal are there to help others…through self understanding, ensuring that they are aware of the energy available to them which in turn allows them to recognize and utilize the energies available to its fullest. He offers guidance when clients are overwhelmed as we can become so caught up in the experience that we become blind to our tools, the lesson and our focus. Peter offers healing energies so that clients can trigger their own healing process, physically, mentally and spiritually. He receives information through automatic writings which is passed on as food for thought in his Blog . Peter Holm believes that if we do not stop and take a look at ourselves from time to time, we become complacent and stagnate. This life is a gift. Let’s live it to the fullest! * * * * * * * * I've just had my CTI reading (Combine Traditional [Astrology Chart] Intuitive [Card Reading]) using astrology oracle cards and my birth chart done by Holm Astrology. Peter very clearly and precisely drew out the characteristics and aspects of my past and my present. He painted a picture of who and more importantly why I am!! He then presented my future -- he has amazing intuition and knows how to present the information to ensure I understood the path ahead. Thank you Peter -- you have a wonderful gift!! - The Sixth House
The Sixth House The Sixth House The Sixth House is naturally ruled by Virgo , the sign of service rendered to others and this is primarily what the sixth house is based on. It could be considered a somewhat sober house, in that it calls you back to the business of practical living. The fifth house was all about romance and having fun and the sixth house is very real and functions on a much more serious note. In its highest sense, the Sixth House teaches us to love one another through selfless acts of service to others. However to promote this higher level of service, it has to be done willingly. Included in the field of service is our working conditions and environment. This is also a focal point of the Sixth House. Within this setting, we meet up with our working associates. Often with planetary links connected to the Sixth House, they will reveal how we relate to our working atmosphere and contacts. The Sixth House also deals with health matters, although chronic health conditions are connected to the Twelfth House . Much can be assessed in connection with our health when we look at the conditions of the Sixth and Twelfth houses , along with the Ascendant's aspects. The Sixth House is where we have the potential to clean up and strengthen our health through routine exercise programs and healthy diet. The Sixth House can also indicate, depending on conditions surrounding this house, eating disorders. The Ascendant, the Twelfth House and the Sixth House are important areas that can help us to pinpoint physical conditions, although it is always suggested that one seeks medical advice above and beyond Astrological indications. Astrology points the way but outside assistance is always recommended especially when health is a specific concern. Even if the Astrology chart indicate health issues related to these houses, these houses can be transformed into houses of wellness as there are many roads to healing, such as meditation and health consciousness which can be achieved through many avenues. There are many solutions available to issues suggested within the horoscope. The strong aspects (which will be discussed under "Aspects" as we further develop this website) such as the conjunction, square and opposition are the greatest learning tools available to us all. The easy flowing aspects like the sextile and trine create calm conditions and opportunities. We gain so much more from confronting our challenging aspects and making them work for us, instead of against us. We are never at life’s mercy. There are always alternatives. The Sixth house also deals with small animals and our pets, but in most cases the central areas of focus of this house deal with service, health, hygiene and the working environment. - The Fourth House
The Fourth House The Fourth House The fourth house naturally ruled by the Moon is the place where we root ourselves through emotional connections with our early upbringing. We gain or lose emotional strength from our early conditioning which is linked closely to our parents, particularly the most nurturing parent. If we had difficulty in our childhood, linked to our parent’s emotional support, this is where we will uncover some of the complications that might have hindered our emotional development. Our early childhood experiences often have great affects on our development into adulthood. Planets found in the fourth house often describe the types of difficulties or attributes we assimilate into our emotional being. If there are difficulties with our emotional response, there are usually indications found in this house as are inner feelings of strength and built in stamina to overcome life’s difficulties. We are conditioned by our early upbringing and build our own sense of comfort through these channels. These conditions often follow us into adulthood and the fourth house speaks of the later part of our lives and denotes end of life conditions. It has been noted that the fourth house indicators are regulated by planetary links to this house and the more planets particularly outer planets ( Saturn , Uranus , Neptune and Pluto ) found in this house, the more introverted and private we become. This is also the house that rules our family life and the home environment conditions through to adulthood. It also entails real estate and property that we own or the type of home we would like to live in and raise our children. The fourth house is also linked to family heritage and our roots. It’s natural ruler is Cancer and there are many attributes that are similar to this sign. Cancer is defined as a nurturing, caring sign, with concerns for family members and also the need to be nurtured. These qualities are very similar to those of the fourth house. The second house deals with security issues, often related to monetary gain and the acquisition of material goods, while the fourth house deals with emotional security at its foundation. The fourth house is linked to the most nurturing of your parent which in most cases pertains to the mother while the tenth house usually is connected to the father. Any planet found connected to or linked with these cusps often speaks of the parents. As planets transit the fourth house cusp or makes connections to planets located in this house, there are often dealings with the home and family. - T-Square
T-Square Aspects in Astrology T-Square The T-Square is an astrological configuration involving two or more planets in opposition (180 degrees) with one another and both making a square (90 degrees) to a third planet. - The Third House
The Third House The Third House The third house is naturally ruled by Gemini and carries with it some of the Gemini characteristics. Gemini is known for the intellect and communication, as is the third house The third house has to do with the conscious mind and rational thinking. The sign ruling the third house cusp, planets located within this house and aspects to these planets, will play a significant role in how the mental processing is theoretically applied. An example of this could be Capricorn ruling this house cusp, and let’s say it is squared by Saturn . This suggests a mind that is slow and methodical. This individual would weight things out before speaking their mind. If Saturn is closely squared to let’s say Mercury in this house, this individual may have difficulty making up their mind or committing themselves to verbalizing what they are thinking. This could also lead to stuttering in childhood, as this individual may feel so unsure of themselves that it could lead to stammering. The third house also speaks of your brothers and sisters as well as your neighbours and close relatives, such as your aunts and uncles. Once again if this house is under developmental pressure from aspects then there can be issues with the siblings, or close personal relatives. In most cases it’s our brothers or sisters that seem to be the challenge. This house has to do with your immediate environment and the day to day routine we become familiar with. It can define the nature of this environment and our ability to comprehend what is taking place within the framework of our surroundings, as well as our attitude toward it. The third house is strongly connected to the communicational abilities and if aspects and planets suggest literary abilities, we could use this talent and publish books. The third house along with the ninth house deals with the written material, although the ninth house has more to do with the publication of the material that comes out of the third house. They are connected to one another. The third house also deals with early education and our learning aptitude, while the ninth house is the third house opposite, it deals with continued education. Often if there are deficiencies within the ninth house, the education is interrupted. The third house also has to do with mental dexterity, and if well aspected in the birth chart, we are able to use mental nimbleness, and can easily flow with changing conversation. Usually an individual will have some knowledge on many subjects, especially if Mercury is in this house and well aspected. A well aspected Mercury in this house can indicate high intellectual abilities. If Neptune is in this house and well aspected by let’s say Jupiter or Pluto , we would have strong mental focus and a wide range of understood topics at our disposal. We would also be a vibrant and forceful communicator. Astrology 101 The Third House is the house of COMMUNICATION and is naturally ruled by Gemini . - Ceres
Ceres Ceres Ceres is an asteroid which is found between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. Its main influence in Astrology focuses on nurturing and protection, but has also been known to be connected to anguish and grief. Some individuals suggest that Ceres is connected to loss and that people will go to great lengths to regain what was once lost even if it means discarding anything that gets in their way of this recovery. The problem is sometimes we cannot regain what is lost. This is where the nurturing instinct and protection influences may surface with someone who has lost something important to them or in direct relationship to “something” that has been physically lost to them. The placement of Ceres by sign and house position will define what area of life needs nurturing and in what manner this nurturing can take place. A couple of examples might help. We will use both the sign and the house placement for clarity. If, for example, Ceres were found in the sign of Aries, what this individual needs and wants to give would be self-regulated. They would work diligently driving themselves, sometimes using force, to achieve their objectives. Action is what is needed and if for example this were in the third house, their needs and wants may involve their siblings or even neighbours. A great way to help heal or nurture that which needs to be nurtured would be through communicative techniques with this example house placement. With our example, the intellect would play a significant role in what unfolds. They would feel as though it would be up to them to move ahead and their priority may be to nurture what suits them or push for nurturing those siblings, but this individual would want to be the forerunner in what takes place. Another example may be Ceres in the sign of Leo. These individuals would really appreciate attention and even admiration if it goes to the extreme. Above all with this example, these individuals would like respect and to be noticed for what they do even if the actions were being carried out for someone else. They would want to control the situation but would have strong consideration for what the other person may want. If Ceres happened to be in the fifth house with our Leo example, the focus may involve a romantic partnership or their children. Enjoyment and experiencing life would be strong points with this placement and living life to the fullest would help in the healing process. Let’s look at one more example. Let’s say that this last example, the individual has a Scorpio Ceres in the 12th house. This individual may need healing through acts connected to sexual expression or through internal integration and eventual transformation. There would be a need or deep understanding of the mystical or spiritual side of life and a strong want for full understanding of these subjects. Anything mysterious would open doors to eventual healing through deep self-study or a strong push to help others through their own methods of self-study revealing anything that needs to surface. This in turn would lead to healing deep integrated wounds. Due to this placement of Ceres being in the twelfth house with this last example, this individual may work behind closed doors or undercover in some manner, as this work could be secretive or subdued in some way. They may work in hospitals or prisons or work as a volunteer for the underdog. With this placement, they may use their own understanding of what needs healing in others because they have lived under similar conditions themselves (knowledge through direct experience). There is a strong need for healing and also to be the healing agent when it comes to Ceres in the Astrology chart. It is a mothering influence and some say it is connected to the sign Virgo with Venus having rulership. So Venus in the sign of Virgo suits this asteroid (which is also known as a dwarf planet). - The first-house | holmastrology.com
The first house represents our vitality & can describes our appearance. It cab be reflective of our health but not chronic health. When a planet moves from the 12th house into the 1st it is likely a new beginning. This is an angular house which strongly suggests an area where life is activated & it is not hidden or repressed. Others will be aware that something has happened. We make changes which can even be to our appearance. Our lives go through transformations & relationships are alter. The First House The cusp of the first house is known as the Ascendant, which defines how we represent ourselves to the outside world. It is the first impression one displays to the world upon meeting someone. The sign on this cusp will provide information as to how we will react to the world. We will specifically discuss the Ascendant which as mentioned at the beginning of the First House is the first house cusp. This will be discussed more in depth in "Angles", a page which is yet to come As there are twelve signs in the zodiac, each one having their own persona, the first house has a lot to do with our identity. This personality is not necessarily the individual we are on the inside, represented by our Sun sign, but often identifies us through physical appearance. For example, Taurus individuals are either a little shorter than most or average in height and have a strong body, while a Gemini is usually taller than average and slender in build. As all houses represent an area of life, the first house is defined as a house of action where things happen. When planets through transit or progression pass over the ascendant or cusp of the first house, things happen, changes occur and transformations take place on a personal level, as this house rules your personal self and everything we reveal to the world. The first house often has to do with our vitality and often describes our physical demeanour. The first house may also be reflective of our health, although the twelfth house deals with health as well, but often chronic conditions. When a planet moves from the twelfth house into the first house it is often a time of new beginnings, fresh starts and depending on the planet involved, we can feel regenerated and ready to begin anew. This is an angular house which strongly suggests an area where life is activated, and many times it is not hidden or repressed. Others will be aware that something has happened as we make changes which can even be appearance changes. Our personality undergoes transformations especially when Pluto moves across the ascendant. Many times our lives go through transformations and relationships are alter significantly. Astrology 101 The First House is naturally ruled by Aries . - MIDHEAVEN OR MC
MIDHEAVEN OR MC MIDHEAVEN The midheaven also known as the cusp of the tenth house is a very sensitive area in the natal chart. Any planet in transit (the movement of planets through the zodiac) particularly outer planets, (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) or inner planets that are in retrograde motion (appear to be moving backwards) that conjunct, square or are in opposition to this point have powerful influences in our lives. In many cases Uranus, Neptune and Pluto will remain in this critical degree for a year or two having a significant influence on our occupation, our standard of living, our goals, aspirations and our status in life. Uranus often produces unexpected, sudden events when it makes a significant aspect to this critical degree. Neptune tends to cloud these areas of life making things unclear or it can add a mystical approach, while Saturn tends to create challenges, obstacles or lessons that need to be overcome. We are tested in these areas. Pluto transforms and may cause disruptions although much of what happens is beneath the surface until it makes a direct contact to this degree. The trine of these planets to the Midheaven or also known as the MC often provides opportunities and good luck with an easy flow into these areas of life, depending on what other aspects within the chart. The opposite house (4th) is often also affected, as when these aspects are making contact to the MC, they are also making an aspect to the fourth house cusp. The fourth house deals with the home and family particularly the mother while the tenth house usually identifies the father. The tenth house usually identifies the most dominant parent while the fourth house is usually the more submissive and protective parent. A conjunction to the tenth house will also present an opposition to the fourth house cusp and oppositions usually deals with something related to or coming from someone else. If, for example, Uranus were conjuncting the IC, it would be in opposition to the MC. We could, as a result, expect changes sometimes drastic in nature to the home and family, such as a move and influences in our occupation and status in life. These changes could be of a rather sudden nature and a need for freedom and breaking free in order to create change would be on the agenda. Much would depend on the overall conditions of Uranus in the birth chart and its location by house and sign. The MC, the Ascendant, the Sun, the Moon and the progressed Moon are often used to rectify a birth time, especially when Uranus and Mars conjunct the MC. Uranus and Mars often indicate something happening on the exact day when it becomes direct especially in conjunction. The progressed Moon moves one degree a month also assisting with pinpointing a birth time. Uranus really seems to disrupt activity related to the specific house cusp. The only guaranteed is something unexpected and sudden will occur with Uranus making contact which often causing disruption into that area of life. Be ready for change, disruption, transformation and activity when the MC becomes activated through transit or progression. Although the changes that take place may be disruptive, agitating and sometimes chaotic in their nature, in most cases, these changes are a requirement. It is best not to put up too much of a struggle, especially when Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are making contact to this area of life. In a year or so after the contact, you will realize that the transformations to your life and disruptions were beneficial to your overall evolution and were requirements brought on to enforce growth on a subconscious and soul level. PLANET ON THE MIDHEAVEN Any planet which is found to be conjunct (same degree) to the MC or Midheaven (2 degrees conjunct from the ninth house or 5 degrees conjunct from the tenth house) has a profound effect on our goals in life and our drive to succeed or our drive to make a name for ourselves. The closer this planet is to the MC, the stronger its influence will be. Since the MC is connected closely to our profession and public status, this planet or planets will influence our ability to succeed. Also look at any aspects from other planets to the MC or any planet that fits this conjunct criterion for more information on the energies of this aspect. These natal statements will certainly colour our profession and our ability to achieve in life. It has been noted that around 5 percent of the general population has this conjunction within one degree of the Midheaven. If you have for example Saturn within this orb of this Midheaven conjunction, there would be obstacles and challenging conditions linked to making a mark in life or achieving recognition for your efforts. Saturn, however, does offer great potential when you work meticulously and conscientiously towards your objectives. If you have put forth great effort, the likelihood for success is there but there may be some type of delay in reaching your goals in some way. We have the potential to make any aspect work positively in our life regardless of challenges attached. We may just have to work harder and have faith in our own abilities, however. If, for example, Jupiter is conjunct the MC, the potential for growth and expansion as well as some good luck especially if the aspects from other planets also point in this direction, will be increased. The sign and planetary link on the MC defines, in part, our occupation and drive to succeed. Having Taurus or Aries on the cusp of the tenth house or having Saturn or Jupiter in this place would certainly have a profound and different approach to how we would address our push for advancement and also our occupation’s potential. There are other factors that can determine what we might want to do for a living, such as our Sun sign and house position, our Ascendant as well as our Nodal positions, but the first place to provide us with direction would be the MC and any planet conjunct its position. Many famous people have planets conjunct this position in their chart. The Midheaven’s sign, any planets conjunct this positon and the ruling planet of the MC play significant roles in determining what might fit into our occupational profile. It also should be noted that if any angle especially the MC or ASC degree falls in the “Aries point degree”, the potential for recognition (even heightened potential for fame) is increased. The Aries point is any angle which is from 0 to 1.5 degrees in a cardinal sign (Aries, Caner, Libra or Capricorn). The closer to exact (degree), the stronger the possibilities.
