It is important when delineating an aspect between transiting Neptune to Mercury to take a close look at how Mercury is aspected in the birth chart. The natal aspect can either soften the transit or challenge it, regardless of what the current transiting aspect might be. For example, if Mercury is trine to Jupiter, sextile to the Sun, and conjunct Venus in the birth chart, any transiting aspect would not be very challenging. If, however, Mercury is square to Saturn, in opposition to Uranus and also square Neptune, this would cause great stress when activated through transit or progression regardless of the transit aspect. Any aspect to Mercury in the birth chart will also be activated during this transit, especially so if in close aspect by degree of separation in the birth chart. It is also necessary to look at the house Neptune is currently transiting as well as its placement in the birth chart, as this will help define what area of life is being affected. With this information at hand, a conjunction between Mercury and transiting Neptune can be quite difficult to handle. As Mercury rules the mind and thinking process, analytical abilities can be misunderstood or unclear. You can be “way off” in your assessment of a situation and restructuring of your life is not recommended until this transit is over. Decision-making can be clouded and if connected to business, you may not be getting the proper information or someone could be deceiving you. Others may also have trouble making sense of what you might be trying to convey as well. On the positive side of this aspect, the mind is now open to the subtle influences of mystical and inspirational messages from beyond. You could experience amazing clarity with visions as your mind is more open to such things. Your intuitive faculties are highlighted and although you might have found something very significant (unless others are in the same vibrational frequency and open to mystical events), you might want to keep this information to yourself as they may simply not be ready to hear what you now understand. The energy of the square between these two planets is similar to when the thinking process is off or vague. Your mental focus will be off, and what you think may be way off as well. It is wise not to make any important decisions during this period as mistakes can have profound effects. You most likely are not seeing things clearly and it is easy to misjudge important matters. Communication with others has its challenges as well and misinformation can be taken as truth and disillusion could be the result. You may also find that you worry about outcomes during this time or feel confused or even depressed. It is important to recognize that this is a result of the influence of Neptunian energies and the tests that you are experiencing will eventually lead to clarity and understanding. The opposition aspect is often related to misinformation or lost communication with others. Other people are usually involved in the equation. This aspect between Saturn and Uranus in transit is in place from January to July of 2021, and then tightens up again November 2021 into early 2022 and becomes active again in July of 2022 until the end of December of 2022. As you can see this aspect is powerful for a long time. Anyone with planets in the natal chart from 3 degrees right through to about 20 degrees especially by conjunction, square and opposition, will find that they will have an impact in their lives. The trines and sextiles will also play a significant role and in a much more favorable manner. Square aspects have to do with tension, struggle, and difficulties, however due to the influx of adversity squares are beneficial as they force us into action as the tension is too high for us to just sit back and do nothing. This is the beauty of the square aspect. Saturn has to do with limitations and restrictions and is known as the great teacher. We learn from its lessons although in most cases they are and, in some cases, long lasting. The reward for hard, diligent effort however, often surfaces as lessons well learned and a solidifying of our objectives. Basically, you reap what you sow. But it is not always a pleasant experience getting there. Uranus on the other hand has to do with revelation and disruption which fosters in the new. Its influence is rarely subtle and often takes place in rather tumultuous ways. Uranus is unpredictable, unexpected, and often sudden in its release. It is unconventional in its delivery but always pushes us in the direction that is due for change. This new direction often takes some time to rationalize and we may have trouble with settling into whatever Uranus brings into our lives. Saturn seeks reliability which Uranus pushes for change and disruption, so you can imagine that there will likely be some disruptive energies at work. Part of you will want things to remain the same regardless of how challenging the situation might become and another part is pushing for change although this will disrupt the normal flow of life. The Sun, whether it is the natal or progressed Sun, speaks of our vitality, our energy, and our ability to recuperate. It also deals with the ego, our ambition and partly governs the success you can attain in life. The Sun also is representative of the Father and sometimes other authority figures prominent in your life, although Saturn often covers this. The progressed Sun moves one degree per year and over a period of your lifetime will move the length of time you are alive. If you live 100 years, the sun will progress approximately 100 degrees. It will make a semi-sextile to the natal Sun at 30, the semi-square at 45 and the sextile at 60. At approximately 72 it makes a Quintile to its original position. For those lucky enough to live into their nineties, they will experience the square at age 90. It will also make many aspects throughout your lifetime to other planetary placements in the birth chart, including the Ascendant. In order for it to reach the Ascendant, the natal Sun must be within 90 degrees, give or take depending on your lifespan to the ascendant (11th -12th house) at birth to make any connections to this significant placement of your Ascendant. The effects of the Progressed Sun on your Ascendant is a three year aspect and the middle year is the most significant. This will be when it becomes direct and 0 degrees in separation to your Ascendant. This conjunction can produce both challenging conditions and easy reinforcing life conditions that will aid you in moving forward in life. This is partly due to the transits that will make contact to this placement over this period of time as well as the natal condition of your Ascendant. When a conjunction occurs, there are often potential opportunities for advancement in the profession. At times people in authority will aid the individual in achieving their goals and can become a motivating factor. In some cases, these opportunities come to the father. In a woman’s chart, this is often a time of marriage or engagement, and opportunities for meeting up with a suitable suitor are enhanced, especially if the Vertex is involved or Venus and Jupiter or if the seventh house is being activated. The health is usually good when the conjunction has easy aspects from transits affecting it. The goals that are being focused on often have a greater chance for success. If, however, this conjunction is receiving challenging aspects from other planets in transit, especially outer planets, the chances for success are greatly diminished or this individual will have to work very hard in order to achieve the same level of success that the easy flow aspects would create. Much of what transforms depends on which planet is transiting the conjunction and its house placement as well as its house placement natally. You can also look to the house it rules in the natal chart to get more information as to how events may unfold and what areas of life will be involved. There may also be difficulties with the health of this individual although you would have to look at the overall condition of the natal Ascendant and Sun as well as any planets in the twelfth house, known as the house of ingrained health issues, if poorly aspected and sometimes there are indicators in the sixth house. When the progressed Sun advances towards the Ascendant, we may feel a draw to make changes to our life that would enhance our world. Some will make changes to their appearance while some become involved in exercise routines that enhance the body. Do not allow yourself to lose focus of your personal principles. It is important not only during good times but especially through hard lessons to continue to share, love and be compassionate. We must always be the mirror image of what we want to see in our world around us. It is said that we are currently in a transitional stage. As with all transition periods, it is turbulent. Transiting Jupiter has a cycle of 12 years for it returns to its natal position in our Astrology chart. All planets have a return cycle and you can prepare an Astrology chart for that specific moment in time when each planet comes back to its original position. The “Return” chart is read like a natal chart but would be focused on the energies of the specific focal planet. You can delineate the Jupiter return every twelve years (approximately) by looking into the planet’s placement in the birth chart and then correlate transiting Jupiter to the same degree and minute it is at in the birth chart. The house position will be the area of life that will bring opportunities, hope, good luck, and expansion. Jupiter brings with it an optimistic approach to the areas of life dictated by the house position. This will be an area of growth and expansion. The opportunities for a growth in finances are increased, as well as potential good fortune in personal ways and in the occupation. Once again, this is all reflective of the house position of Jupiter as well as the aspects Jupiter makes within the birth chart and the transits it will be receiving during the return period. Jupiter nearly always promotes growth in some fashion or another; the only catch might be if it is in aspect to Saturn. Jupiter pushes for expansion, optimism, and good luck, while Saturn pushes for structure and discipline. The position of Pluto in the natal chart is indicative of where you can expect major transformations, power struggles, deep insight, sexual overtones and potential regeneration. Changes take place in these areas of life and in many cases, there is not too much you can do about it. It is always best not to try to override Pluto’s energies. Pluto often brings an end to conditions in order for something new to be activated. Jupiter is about insight and expanded energies. Under most conditions Jupiter in transit offers opportunities to succeed, growth through exploration and optimistic feelings. In many cases it is as though everything is going our way. It may happen on its own but if not, then a little push may be all that is required. In its lesson form, Jupiter brings over-optimism and extravagance. This may be true of almost anything that Jupiter touches. Too much of something can be what Jupiter desires. Trines speak of easy flow and opportunities for success or good luck; however, in rare cases, if for example, someone has been quite sick for some time, trines can cause things to move ahead with little resistance. Little resistance is what trines speak about. Trines are what we wait for in life and in most cases, Jupiter’s energies are certainly worth the wait. Pluto and Jupiter together may indicate a potential for growth and good fortunes as long as ego and power struggles do not become part of the process. Pluto may indicate someone in a position of power and authority although this is often Saturn’s domain. Pluto can cause ego disputes and in turn cause arguments and disruption (but not normally with the trine aspect). It might be more like good luck and recognition or potential positive transformation that might push us up the corporate ladder of success if this is business oriented. Pluto with Jupiter will likely create some opportunities to move forward in life and raising the bar might not be a bad idea. Who knows where this might take us? We have experienced a Full Moon, Lunar Eclipse today, Wednesday, May 26, 2021, Penumbral began at 4:47 am, full eclipse began at 7:11 a.m., full eclipse ended at 7:25 a.m. and Penumbral ends at 9:45 a.m. EST. In the Toronto area, the actual full eclipse will be below the horizon but the Penumbral beginning was visible. It is found in the sign of Sagittarius at 5 degrees and 26 minutes. This eclipse lasts a total of 5 hours and 2 minutes but the full eclipse will last 14 minutes. For this eclipse to have an effect in your chart, you will need to have planets within 3 degrees of 5 degrees Sagittarius (2 degrees to 8 degrees). The conjunction, opposition and square will have the strongest impact, while the trine and sextile will have an influence but not as profound. The position of natal planets or angles to this degree and within three degrees and how they tie in with other planetary aspects or angles will tell the story regarding your personal life and the influence you will experience. Lunar eclipses are said to last in months the duration of the eclipse in hours (some individuals, however, say the effects of this event can last as long as one year). This eclipse, being in the sign of Sagittarius, a fire sign and its ruling planet being Jupiter, suggests that this will be a time of opportunity for expansion and growth unless poorly aspected in the natal chart by Saturn which makes this a little more challenging. Jupiter offers up opportunities for travel, enlightenment in many levels and often good luck. The area of life is determined by the house under its influence by this eclipse degree. The lunar eclipses always have deeper influences. On a social level regarding the masses, it shows the mindset due to information coming through at that time. If any planets cross the degree especially by conjunction, they will stir the energies connected to the eclipse. Mars will often spur major happenings if making contact. This speaks primarily of the duration of this eclipse which lasts about one month. Eclipses bring change. A Full Moon Lunar eclipse is a time to purge and let go of things that no longer suit life’s circumstances. It is a culmination point when we begin to take note of what has been in place and move to the next level. We often reap what we have sown. The outer planets remain in retrograde for longer periods than the inner planets. When Neptune goes retrograde in the later part of June (June 25, 2021) those that have Neptune in retrograde in their birth charts will experience its affects likely more than those without it in retrograde in their birth charts. Those that have Neptune stationary in their birth chart will be more powerfully affected. “Powerfully” may not be the appropriate word as Neptune’s energies operate in very subtle ways. Its influences are felt often through intuitive channels and the unconscious mind. In direct motion, Neptune often suggests cloudiness with our reasoning, potential deception or we may not be facing facts. In its higher representation it suggests idealism. It also could suggest a romantic involvement often associated with an idealistic view of the partner or situation. It is also linked to artistic abilities coming to the surface. Neptune is linked with fantasy and visions while in direct motion, but its energies turn to reality and dealing with the actual facts when in retrograde. Openheartedness and level-headedness linked to common sense are terms that could also be associated with Neptune’s retrograde cycle energy. Since Neptune deals primarily with the mystical and spiritual side of our consciousness, during the time when Neptune is retrograde, you may find that you realize more concrete solutions or answers to questions pertaining to these pursuits (seeing things as they are). This applies particularly to those with Neptune retrograde in their birth charts. Look to see which house Neptune is transiting through during this cycle and look where Neptune is located in your birth chart for specific areas of life. Neptune’s retrograde cycle is approximately 150 days in length, and it spends about 14 years in each sign. Its return cycle is approximately 165 years, so we never experience its return in our lives. About 40 percent of people have Neptune retrograde in their birth charts. As a result, Neptune’s retrograde energies are quite common. When Neptune is in its direct cycle, there can be a cloudiness about life, depending on how it is aspected in the birth chart. There may be deception and deceit or often illusion and disarray when it comes to seeing things as they are. When Neptune turns retrograde, it becomes more genuine and more lifelike as Neptune can be illusionary when direct. It is more reliable, and life becomes more real although what you see, at times, may not be all that pleasant when in retrograde. There can be a real feeling of let-down after a period of feelings of idealism and wonder, but the truth is what we want, regardless of how it may look. Because of Neptune’s influence, when we view the world as it is, a part of us still wants to see it through rose coloured glasses. There is the unrealistic hope under this retrograde influence that what we see might just vanish; but it will not, and we have to face facts. Life becomes more practical and realistic with the retrograde cycle, and this can also include “visions” that are real. This can also include mystical understanding that is also real and identifiable. Neptune retrograde is not a bad thing. Neptune retrograde is clear truth in a broad scope. We are always travelling a crossroad, learning from specific experience. We have reached a fork yet the path ahead is still unclear. Let’s not forget, however, we have travelled a great distance since this specific journey began. It has been a rough and rocky road up to this point and in many countries, their journey is far from over. It is wonderful to see the nations that are on the mend reaching out to assist those that are going through great challenges. Many countries (and we as individuals) have shown us without judgement that we are certainly all one (all experiencing the same storm yet all experiencing this storm in our own vessel). Because we are one, what one does affects the whole. There is no denying that life has been turned upside down in many ways and regardless of your take on the pandemic, we all share in its unfolding. What lessons have been taught to the world at large? What lessons have you been taught on a personal level? What can we do in our own little corner of the world to bring us all closer together and help us think in terms of the whole? Under such unusual circumstances surely there have been important lessons for everyone. Surely, we have not walked this road in vain. I personally believe that brotherhood or should I say, personhood, is asking for awareness. Society is calling out for help. Our world is primed for an awakening and has been for some time, but not enough was done to complete the process. Has the universe interjected? This is most certainly a valuable lesson. Continue to move forward. Do not falter or revert back. We must leave the past behind and venture into the unknown. This unknown holds an opportunity for growth and expansion in the best possible manner that suits us as individuals, but also enhances and pledges to initiate what is required for us all, as a whole, to move forward.
