WINTER SOLSTICE

We have much to celebrate. Be filled with promise, with faith in all that is. Be filled with gratitude, with love and with inner healing light! Blessings to all on this winter solstice! — Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice (Hibernal Solstice) takes place on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 4:19 a.m. EST in the northern hemisphere. December 21 will have the least amount of daylight as the sun will be at its lowest arc in the sky for our area.

Shortly after December 21 daylight will start to increase, and our precious sunlight will return.

As nature sleeps and the light is low, we can use the long nights to reflect on our life’s journey. Go inward and plan your intentions for when the energy and the light return.

Mother nature knows best. Follow her example. Many animals are now hibernating or slowing down, resting and waiting for the return of light, for the return of warmth, the return of the energy that nurtures us mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Our current lesson could be patience. Utilize this time to look deep into the shadows of self. Bring light to the darkest corners of your being without judgement. Fill each corner with love and allow spirit to grow.

Is it coincidence that during Yule season (the rebirth of light), many celebrate the birth of Christ for example (the rebirth of salvation)? This is a time of celebration for many, whether it is Yule, Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa, Bodhi Day, Saturnalia, and the list goes on.

We have much to celebrate. Be filled with promise, with faith in all that is. Be filled with gratitude, with love and with inner healing light!

BELONGING

Whether you are living on your own, have a family to care for or a circle of friends that are important to you, it is important to have a sense of belonging. We have a need to be a part of something.

There are times, however, when we not only feel alone but are alone in the general sense of the word. We are by ourselves due to circumstances and have no one but ourselves to rely on. These moments can be challenging.

We need to feel loved and appreciated. Humans in general need sensitivity, compassion and care.

If we require these needs so do others around us. We too need to show and give what we want and need to others as well. If you need love and affection, so do others! The wind of compassion must blow in both directions. Be mindful when others need the comfort of your loving touch or your compassionate understanding.

To take the human personal need for belonging one more step, it is imperative to feel a “belonging” or connection with who you are within yourself. You must understand and accept that you are a work in progress, but no matter how many times you stumble and fall, you still deserve love and affection which must begin with you as self love. You must learn to love yourself before you can truly love someone else.

This journey to feel belonging can be a long tedious one. It can manifest through different life experiences.

We all need to feel belonging. Open your heart to others but just as importantly to yourself as well. Life will open the door and show you the way to love and compassion especially when you open the door to love and compassion for yourself.
