SUMMER SOLSTICE 2024

Summer Solstice

In the Northern hemisphere, we will be celebrating the summer solstice on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 4:50 pm EDT. The summer solstice signals the longest daylight of the year.  In central Ontario, we will experience approximately 15 hours and 26 minutes of daylight.  The further north, the more daylight time and the further south, the less daylight.

This powerful solar energy can recharge our spirits, minds and bodies.

All things are energy, and this energy is all interconnected. Some individuals are more in tune and are quite aware of these influential external energies. With or without this awareness, all living things are affected by the position of the planets at their birth, by the continual movement of the planets through life (transits), by the influence of the rotation of our earth including the changing seasons and any other shifts that occur in nature.

Guided by spirit/our higher self (call it what you will), we live our truth, both during the easy flow and the more challenging life lessons. How we utilize the energies available, our attitude and our focus, determines our experience.

Take advantage of the strong solar energies of the Summer Solstice to push forward. Use the more aggressive energies of the Sun to catapult forward and allow yourself to bloom into your own true beauty. Rise above the chatter of your thinking mind (and the outside chatter around us) and simply allow life’s energies. See the world around you for what it is without judgement.

As with the Sun currently at its fullest potential (from our earthly position,) you too can allow all your inner power and beauty to radiate out. Express your true self as there is nothing more perfect or authentic.  By allowing your authentic self to bloom, not only you will benefit but so will every living thing that your energy touches.

What a glorious time of year.

Allow yourself to mirror the seasons. We have just experienced the wonderful season of renewal. We hopefully have worked hard to create buds of promise. Now is the time to allow those buds to bear the fruit of our efforts. This beauty and abundance will be seen and experienced by all who share this garden of life with us.

THE PATH IS EVER CHANGING

Have you taken time to review life recently?

Do you have questions as to the authenticity of your life objectives? 

Do you wonder why at this stage you might be questioning things?

If you are asking these questions, it is likely that life has stagnated in some way, and you are ready to make some type of adjustment. These adjustments do not have to be an end to any given situation but can represent the beginning of what is to become part of your unfolding.

The Path is Ever Changing

On the other hand, this adjustment can represent a completely new beginning because your current journey no longer suits your growth.

No matter what the circumstances, the path is ever changing and although you might be somewhat comfortable, a part of you knows that something new is in the making or that something new needs to take place.

Sometimes we get ideas on what this next phase might look like and other times, everything is new and unknown. Be ready for new insight or change but do not be in a hurry. T

Patience is a virtue, so they say.  Practice patience when required and let life lead.

THE BEST YOU CAN BE

There is so much talk about being the best version of yourself.  That would be ideal, but realistically, we are human beings, with flaws and shortcomings.  No one is perfect and those that believe they are can take a second look.

The Best You Can Be

You will make mistakes along the way.  You will do things that you wish you had never done.  You will say things that you will regret later.  There is no doubt about this. The more we work on ourselves certainly the less frequent these events occur.

Are we supposed to get caught up in trying to do everything perfectly?

Are we supposed to live our lives for the sake of the judgement of others?

Life is about learning and sometimes we learn the greatest lessons from things that we may have done in error.  “Wrong” is a judgement.  You have to recognize a mistake as being incorrect.

According to merriam-webster.com a “mistake” by definition is “a wrong action or statement proceeding from faulty judgment, inadequate knowledge, or inattention”. There is no calculated intention. It just came about without a concentrated effort.  Sometimes things just happen.

We are not perfect beings, but we can pay closer attention to how we live our lives, to the way we receive others and our interaction, especially with those we love.  We tend to allow our worst when in the company of those we are comfortable with.  It is not malicious intent (at least unless we are provoked). When provoked it is certainly not acceptable to use violence or intend to emotionally hurt others.

Live your life to the best of your abilities.  Know that you will make mistakes along the way. You are human with emotions, but also recognize the fact that others do as well.  Even those that do not show emotion have sensitivity that is either not easily brought to the surface or is held back.

In the heat of the moment, most people think that anything goes, but we must take responsibility for our words and our actions.

Pick your battles and gauge what is worth arguing over and in some circumstance whether it is important to be right. 

Physical violence is inexcusable and so are hurtful intentions (whether words or actions) with or without provocation. 

As it is said “sometimes s*&t happens” so don’t be too hard on yourself. Learn from your mistakes and be the best you can be. With the right intent and self-control, we can be compassionate and understanding even in the heat of the moment.
