Many of us begin the New Year with a New Year’s resolution. We decide to make changes based on what needs transformation and what we left undone from the previous year. We really do not have to wait for the New Year to make such commitments; however, many of us take the time to contemplate and recalibrate at the beginning of a new calendar year.
In many cases, what we decide to bring forward or leave behind does not always last. Some of the things we decide to alternate can be very difficult to maintain and if we don’t succeed, we often feel as though we are weak or do not have the staying power to accomplish what we set out to do. Perhaps the timing is wrong, or were our goals too hard to put into place all at once?
Perhaps if we fail, we can begin again and tackle our goal in smaller implements?
If we stumble, we don’t have to call it quits. Our so called “failure” may be the perfect driving force pushing us to complete our objectives if we look at it that way. Don’t give in and give up. Just because we stumbled does not mean we have to stay down. Anything worth accomplishing might take a few (or many) attempts before we make it through to fruition. Perhaps a little more time or a little more effort is all we need.
The only one holding you back is you. Listen to your self-encouragement but disregard the negative feedback your mind wants to share with you. Don’t forget that “you are not your mind” but the one listening to the thoughts. You don’t have to own them. Listen to the positive, encouraging thoughts. Take the information gained from the lessons when you stumbled and disregard the rest.
We must believe in ourselves! If we truly dig in with determination we can reach our goals. Take baby steps and set reachable goals, one step at a time. Each step brings us closer to our larger goals. One step at a time.
It takes courage to move forward, but we can do it. Begin anew with focus and determination!
