Holm Astrology has been creating "Astrology" and "Food For Thought" posts for over 10 years.  Wix has taken over the Vista Print websites and as a result of the migration of our information, a large portion of our blog posts are currently lost.

We realize our Astrology posts are vital to our students.

If you do not find what you are looking for on this Blog page, please visit www.holmastrology.blogspot.com/ where you will find our missing blog posts.  There are over 2,660 posts pre September, 2023.

We apologize for the inconvenience but it is worth the jump over to our blogspot.

At what age do we begin setting goals for ourselves?

Some begin very early in life to set financial goals, others wait until later and some never aspire to creating a “nest egg”.

Most of us wish to be comfortable, at the very least. It is quite normal to set goals for financial success. However, when setting these goals we must make sure that we are not coming from a place of shortages and that we are not becoming obsessed with the need for more.

We live in a material world, so there it is expected that we set these goals. However, should material achievements be our only goals?

Let’s keep our minds open. The only limitations are the ones that we put on ourselves. Our thoughts, aspirations and goals have ripple effects. We mold our reality with our belief structure and focus.
Aspirations and Goals

We do not have to be fixated on material aspirations.  We can also choose spiritual or metaphysical ambitions. When we search for our spiritual connection (whatever spirituality may mean to you), we realize that this is not something that we need to seek, because it is already a part of who we are.  Look within and we can recognize that connection. Many of our readers have mentioned that they do not feel worthy of this connection and the reasons behind this vary immensely from person to person.

Knowing that our belief structure expands with focus, we need to pay attention to our beliefs, our expectations, our focus.  These will build and more will come your way. Focus is key. We need to regularly review our beliefs and expectations.  Are they advantageous?

Let’s keep our minds open. The only limitations are the ones that we put on ourselves.  We can focus on opening our minds as well as letting go, practicing and allowing. It gets easier with disciplined effort.

Our thoughts, aspirations and goals have ripple effects.  We mold our reality with our belief structure and focus. What is possible?

Learning the difference between what we can control and what we cannot control can be a difficult lesson. Do your best. Acknowledge you are human. Acceptance can be a beautiful thing when appropriate and bring needed relief.
WHAT WE CAN CONTROL AND WHAT WE CANNOT

There are things in life that are completely out of your control.  They often happen when you are least expecting them.  You might experience a car accident, loss of your job, or on the other side of the coin, get a promotion, receive confirmation that your cancer is in remission and most importantly experiencing peace when you least expected it.

Many of us want control over everything but more often than not, we are at the mercy of circumstance.

Life happens. Situations change. We can blame ourselves for every event (but why?) and take ownership of things we do not own. Perhaps others are involved and our intentions were deeply wanting to assist, for example, but they had no impact. Have we not all blamed ourselves for someone passing-over because we might have been able to do just one more thing different to change the situation? That is grief. Recognize it as such. Sometimes we can give it our best and things still move in a manner that is anything but what we had hoped for.

Step back and look with your eyes and not your heart. Many life situations are out of our hands. Each of these events and hardships have lessons for us, however.  Is that lesson “to experience and let go”?

It is not always on you but take ownership when it is. Everyone is responsible for their own actions and choices. Stop blaming yourself when it is not your fault. It is not on you!
IT IS NOT ON YOU

It is important to take ownership of our actions. In some circumstances, however, the actions of others directly influence those with little or no choice in the matter.

In many cases, it takes two to tango, so the saying goes. If it is two parties taking action or acting out, then both parties need to take responsibility for what has taken hold.

It is also important to realize that you act for yourself.  It is just as important to recognize that it is not up to you to push someone else to make changes.  They must make their own decisions to take appropriate actions. We cannot force others to make changes to themselves or corrections to their actions. It can be frustrating to watch someone close being hurtful towards others (including you) or themselves.

Sometimes, people shoulder the blame for things they did not do or had no control over. How often do we overthink events and struggle to come up with alternative actions we could have taken to change an outcome that is already in the past (an outcome we had no decision in creating)?

“If only I had made a phone call that day then Charlie (or some other loved one) may not have been in the car at that precise moment of impact” is a perfect example.  The events of life are not yours to own.

It is not always on you but take ownership when it is. Everyone is responsible for their own actions and choices. Stop blaming yourself when it is not your fault. It’s not on you!
