Whether you are living on your own, have a family to care for or a circle of friends that are important to you, it is important to have a sense of belonging.  We have a need to be a part of something.

There are times, however, when we not only feel alone but are alone in the general sense of the word.  We are by ourselves due to circumstances and have no one but ourselves to rely on.  These moments can be challenging.

We need to feel loved and appreciated. Humans in general need sensitivity, compassion and care.

If we require these needs so do others around us. We too need to show and give what we want and need to others as well.  If you need love and affection, so do others! To take the human personal need for belonging one more step, it is imperative to feel a “belonging” or connection with who you are within yourself.  You must understand and accept that you are a work in progress, but no matter how many times you stumble and fall, you still deserve love and affection which must begin with you as self love.  You must learn to love yourself before you can truly love someone else.

This journey to feel belonging can be a long tedious one. It can manifest through different life experiences.
