Once we have built a good foundation of the fundamentals of Astrology with the signs, houses, and aspects, we can then begin to grasp the meanings behind the horoscope. The birth chart is a precise tool which delineates the character traits of an individual. There are unlimited combinations and variations found in a natal chart and this is what defines each of us as unique personalities. Once you have a clear picture of what energies are suggestive of an individual for example from someone with Aries Sun and Capricorn Moon and how this person would differ from someone with Aquarius Sun and Cancer Moon (which is only a part of the process), we can move on to delineate a chart for upcoming transits and progressions. Transits and progressions decipher what potential future events or areas of life will be affected by the passing of the planetary giants in our solar system (and through our chart). We have to take into consideration all the planets but pay particular attention to the outer planets, especially Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto together with any inner planet that is in retrograde motion (appears to be moving backwards) for a prolonged period of time. The inner planets move very quickly through the zodiac and under most conditions, usually only impact us for a very short period of time and have little to no lasting influence. The outer planets and retrograde planets passing over sensitive points in our birth chart, particularly the Ascendant and the Midheaven, can have profound effects on our lives and these often point towards turning points or significant life events that can alter our perception or instigate action that changes our perceptions or can point towards changes in our lives. The most powerful transit is a transiting planet conjuncting (0 to 10 degrees apart) a natal sensitive point or planetary body. The energies of the planets merge and become one and under many conditions, they intensify their energies when they are linked together. The houses are areas of life and the transiting planet will intensify these points and may produce profound life altering effects especially when several transiting planets are saying something in the chart that is repeated. The outer planets can be in an orb of influence for up to two to three years depending on when they go into retrograde motion and when they become direct again. The first impact when a transiting planet makes an important aspect to another planet and makes a direct aspect to a natal point or planet will be the strongest. An example of this might be Saturn conjunction Mars at 15 degree of Aries. Both planets become direct when the transiting planet is exactly 15 degrees Aries (0 degrees difference). This applies to squares, a 90 degree aspect, the opposition, a 180 degree aspect and all other major aspects, (the trine, sextile) as well as the minor aspects (semi-sextile, the semi-square and so forth). The major aspects are more significant than the minor aspects and the challenging aspects usually promote transitional times in our lives. There are several progressed aspects that are also important in determining factors in a chart and the potential for change in a person’s life. We will look at the progressions at a later date. The energies of a progression bring about more internal changes. You will use the progressed Moon, transiting Mars as well as the transiting Sun and transiting Uranus as timers, as they often produce a push that activates the energies of the outer planets and often signify an event or a peak producing internal insight. Today we have only touched on how to delineate potential life events as well as the timing as to when these events may unfold. The area of life affected will be described by the houses involved in the transit or progression, as well as the natal placement of the transiting planets by aspect and house placement. Some people may look at the title of this post “Creative Inspiration” and think to themselves, “I don’t have a creative bone in my body” or “I have nothing creatively significant to offer”. The New Moon Cycle is the perfect time to plant seeds for your goals and the Full Moon Cycle offer the perfect energies to harvest your goals that were set during the New Moon Cycle (particularly the New Moon under the same sign six months prior). The Full Moon is a perfect time to review all external events that have unfolded since the beginning of the New Moon. This is a great cycle to keep you consistently setting new goals, reviewing life, reviewing the energies available and accomplishing your goals. The Full Moon cycle is rarely a time for planning or orchestrating what you want to do. It is much more conducive to reviewing your progress, tweaking your ideas so that you can enjoy an even larger harvest. There will be times that you will realize that the seeds have been sown on baron lands and you may have to accept your losses. You can always reseed under the next new moon. Our next Full Moon is in the sign of Aries at 12 degrees. This Harvest Full Moon occurs on October 5, 2017. With the Full Moon in the sign of Aries, the harvest often deals with something of a very personal nature and applies directly to us as an individual. It is often something we decided to do for ourselves that we wished would bring self-satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment. The Full Moon is not always the best time to begin anew and you would be far better waiting for the New Moon before planting new seeds. As mentioned, the Full Moon is time to harvest. You will reap whatever you have sown. Aries is a very “me first” placement. It is important that you take into consideration what the effects of your action might have on others. Aries can cause us to aggressively pursuit our goals and we are so focused that we forget how we or our actions might affect others. Sometimes the ego can take control, and you may not listen to reason. Be open to discussion with others. Do not be closed minded or one-sided with your pursuits. Listen to advice when others offer it. You can learn a lot from others as they too have insights and information you may have overlooked. There is one transiting aspect which is a semi-sextile to Neptune. Semi-sextiles are often opportunistic aspects which point towards being in the right place at the right time. Anger is an extreme discharge of emotion, without harnessed filters. Anger usually rears its head at the most crucial point of a discussion or event and if we were to take a moment to review what is transpiring, we would be able to think more rationally, restrain ourselves and find a more productive solution. Is anger an ego emotion? Does our anger define us? I believe the secret to controlling our anger is to recognize our personal triggers and telltale responses that lead up to our allowing anger. Is anger inevitable when we reach a point in our emotional response? We eventually have to take responsibility for our own actions no matter what has lead up to the event. We cannot blame anyone for our own reactions to events or statements, even if it seems as though they provoked us and caused us to act in these ways. We, as humans, must take responsibility for all of our physical form reactions, but our inner core, our spiritual self would not react in anger. Are our angered reactions then are a result of our damaged ego? Our reaction is always a choice and if this is true, there cannot be a point of no return. It is a choice to continue. It takes a strong, focused individual, under some circumstances, to allow certain actions or statements to pass them by without an angered response. The more we practice self-control, the easier it becomes. When we are in alignment with our spiritual selves, anger, violent behaviours and acts of hostility just do not fit. We are spiritual by nature. Our inner core is a match with the energy of source. If we find ways of releasing tension through acts of kindness and compassion, we perfectly line up with source. Beyond a doubt, it can be difficult and very few individuals reach this state on a constant basis. In reality, no one can hurt us emotionally without our permission. Reach beyond the confines of knee jerk reaction, which would includes anger, and you will find your true sense of self. It CAN be done. Transiting Jupiter is moving rapidly through the sign of Libra and into its final degrees of this sign. It will then move into the sign of Scorpio on October 11, 2017. Jupiter remains in the sign of Scorpio until November, 2018. This post will define how Jupiter conjunct the Sun might share its energies. Pluto remains between 16-18 degrees of Capricorn for the remainder of 2017. Those with their Sun in Libra and Aries will have this square affecting their natal charts. We will not be defining the difference between having an Aries Sun or having a Libra Sun, but will discuss the square from Pluto. The closer to exact (16-18 degrees), the stronger the intensity of Pluto’s energy. As it moves past your natal Sun, its energies begin to wane off and by 2-3 degrees past exact, the energies are mostly finished, but this will be the time that you start to understand the meaning behind what took place. It can take as much as 2 years to get the full picture of what this transit means if it affects you. Pluto has a powerful influence as it passes across this area of your Sun. The Sun deals with who you are, your ambitions. It also deals with your sense of direction as you mature into yourself. We continue our forecast for Sun in Libra from our post on September 25, 2017. https://holmastrology.blogspot.ca/2017/09/forecasts-for-sign-of-libra-part-ii.html LIBRA SUN CONJUNCT VENUS/MARS continued Mars Mars moves slower than Venus (Venus discussed in Part I) and will be in effect from October 23 to December 10, 2017. It will move through the sign of Libra (and further) which will affect all those with their Sun in Libra with this conjunction. The energy of Mars is quite different from the energies of Venus and what might have been a casual beginning in a relationship that started during the Venus cycle can move into the next phase as Mars and its energy takes over. The relationship can become much more sexual and the energies much more vital and enthusiastic. It will be important to recognize that the energies of Mars can be quite explosive and at times volatile as well. Often there is ego intrusion when Mars is involved and it is important to handle these energies constructively. There is no benefit to arguing to prove you are right. It is far more productive to agree to disagree and take a more friendly approach in life. At times, however, you may feel that you need to express yourself in a more vigorous manner and even defend your rights. Remember Libra is about justice, but peaceful resolutions are always suggested. Under any condition, an agreeable solution can be found. It is with a heavy heart that we have watched and listened to all that has transpired on the numerous islands and the state of Florida and north as a result of Hurricane Irma, the other hurricanes that followed, the earthquakes in Mexico, etc. Countless people have lost their homes, their belongings, have been displaced and even worse have lost loved ones because of these events. Some question why. So many have stepped up to the plate and have offered assistance in varying forms to these areas and their people. It can be very trying facing Mother Nature as well are the varying other forms of storms of life. How do you pick up the pieces and move on? In monetary ways, we pull together and rebuild our lives after such tragedies in one way or another, but the memories of the events are not soon forgotten. Many will rebuild but once the physical life is back to normal, many, many people will struggle with the emotional scars left behind. The emotional trauma can be much more difficult to move beyond. Some come through feeling blessed for having survived; others come through with great emotional scars. In reality, all we ever have had and all we ever will have is this particular moment. We must remember to live in this moment. This can be a challenge but if we want to truly live, there is no choice. We can get caught up in the past or worry about the future which leads to struggles with which we have no control. Attitude once again, plays the most significant role in how we move forward. Our hearts and positive thoughts are with all of those who have been touched and are still being touched by these events. It is our hope that you come through this even stronger than previously. It is amazing how these types of events can pull people together. The generosity of others will help the physical conditions. We are one people without borders. This forecast is focused on those individuals with the Sun in the sign of Libra, and is also good reference material for those who have dealings with Libra individuals and for those with an interest in the continued education of Astrology. It is important to take into consideration all signs, planets, houses, etc. when concluding on specific character traits of those born under the sign of Libra (or any other sign for that matter). The whole chart must be reviewed to get a clear and full understanding of any individual. With this in mind, Libra individuals are generally motivated to being social and are interactive with others. They are cooperative and are always looking for ways to create peace and harmony in what surrounds them. They can be diplomatic and outspoken when the need arises but in general are quite amiable and tend to wish for fairness in life. They seek the middle ground and will often present two points of view (both sides of the story) if there is any opposition. They move from one solution to another so as not to make waves. This can often creates strife with those involved on one side or the other of a debate. Life does need guidelines, and Libra, being focused on justice, represents what could be called fairness and equality for all those that are touched by life’s circumstances. LIBRA SUN CONJUNCT VENUS/MARS/JUPITER Venus moves into the sign of Libra on October 15, 2017. Mars moves into the sign of Libra on October 23, 2017 and Jupiter remains in Libra until October 11, 2017. Those with their Sun in the early degrees of Libra will be experiencing these conjunctions to Venus and also to Mars, while those with their Sun in the later degrees of Libra will be experiencing the conjunction to Jupiter. The distance between transiting Venus and transiting Mars is too wide of an angle to be conjunct one another, but could indirectly affect those within a 5 – 8 degree orb of both planets. Some Astrologer give as much as a 10 degree orb of influence but those not in tune to the energies of life may not feel a 10 degree orb. Venus The Sun will conjunct Venus into early November and the Sun and Venus together is usually a favourable combination. It can indicate social affairs and gathering with people potentially discussing such things as marital plans and social functions. In most cases, these gatherings are friendly and filled with warmth and affection. These are generally peaceful gatherings and yet can also focus on business. If business related, you may be setting up current or future plans that would be very beneficial for all involved. The meetings are usually amiable, and a positive agreement is often a by-product of such productive gatherings. This is also a time when love relationships seem to surface. This could include a new romantic involvement or in connection with one that already exists. There is an apparent feeling associated with the union that seems cordial and friendly and there is no telling where these relationships can go under these pleasant conjunction energies. If there are feelings that need to be shared, this is the ideal time to do so. Love is in the air and friendship can move to the next level. This is an ideal time for the affections to be brought out into the open. Much does depend, however, on what the rest of the chart is saying as mentioned at the beginning of this post.
