In the upcoming year Pluto will be moving between 16-19 degrees of Capricorn. Those with the Sun even as far back as 9 to 10 degrees Capricorn and as far forward as 26 to 27 degrees Capricorn will be affected by this transit of Pluto by conjunction. Pluto is a very powerful planet which often brings with it transformation, regeneration and sweeping changes. Pluto’s action is not overly passive but often you will get a semi-gentle reminder that things need to go through alterations, and at times, even total renewal. If life’s course needs to go through a transformation and you find that there is little hope of saving the situation, it might be advisable to let go and start anew willingly. Pluto will often bring an end to redundant conditions in forceful ways. The Sun often deals with your aims and objectives, your goals in life and you may have been working towards an end or objective for some time now. For the next few months Uranus, Jupiter and Saturn’s energies are all in close degrees although in separate signs. Without taking into consideration the aspects between these three giants, let’s just consider the energy that is being transmitted through them. Uranus is always searching for something new so it can break away from tradition, while Saturn wants to stay with tradition. Jupiter tends to expand what it touches and also adds “flair” of philosophical understanding into the process. Transiting Saturn will be in trine to transiting Uranus all of 2017. This post will apply to all individuals with their Sun in Capricorn between 17 and 29 degrees. The post will also apply to individuals who have other planets also within these degrees (without having their Sun in Capricorn). To begin, we will look at how Saturn and Uranus blend with one another. The current aspect between these two outer giants is a trine. Trines, in general, suggest easy flow and opportunity; this is what we all wait for in life. It will be many years before we have this trine between these two planets again. Although the trine is considered a favourable aspect, Saturn does not do well in any aspect, but the potential for the outcome turning out favourably is increased. There are always trials and tribulations connected to the energy of Saturn as it is the teacher but if we learn the lesson being taught, we have much to gain, in general. The new Moon always suggests an opportunity for new beginning and for growth and expansion. This phase of the moon, for the most part, is related to setting goals and moving forward towards your ambitions. This is the time to plant your seeds. This is particularly so with the New Moon in Capricorn which is the sign related to business enterprises, advancement and goal oriented objectives. Capricorn will provide you with the determination and endurance to achieve or at least set in motion these intentions. Transiting Jupiter in aspect to natal Sun in CapricornWe will begin by touching on Jupiter which is currently in the sign of Libra at 19 degrees when the Sun goes into the sign of Capricorn (December 22/2016). Jupiter will turn retrograde on February 6, 2017 and remain retrograde until June 9, 2017, when it turns direct again. Jupiter will start this cycle at 19 degrees Libra and move as far as 23 degrees Libra before it turns retrograde. Jupiter will then go back as far as 13 degrees Libra while in its retrograde cycle. For those that have their Sun sign in Capricorn and between the 13 to 23 degrees the information in this post will certainly be of interest to you. You can give yourself a minimum of 3-4 degrees approaching and as much as 2 degrees separating for Jupiter’s energies to have a direct effect on you. There will be a square between your Sun and transiting Jupiter during this period and although Saturn does bring with it challenging conditions and lessons to be learned, Jupiter often promotes opportunities during this phase. On December 28, 2016, we will touch on transiting Jupiter in aspect to natal Saturn as Saturn is the ruling planet of Capricorn. Today, we will look at the semi-sextile between transiting Saturn and those with the Sun in Capricorn. Saturn will be between 19 and 27 degrees Sagittarius until it goes retrograde on April 6, 2017. It will remain in its retrograde motion until August 25 and during this period Saturn will move from 27 degrees to 21 degrees Sagittarius. Anyone with their Sun in Capricorn between 19 and 27 degrees (also allow for one degree approaching -- 18 degrees and three degrees separating -- up to 29 degree Capricorn to 1degree Aquarius) will be affected. You will have to use a very tight orb as this aspect is only strong within one degree of influence (some Astrologers use a 30 minutes influence). Saturn, unlike all the other planets, because of its slow and deliberate action, actually has its most powerful influence when it is two degrees past direct. All the other planets are most powerful when they are direct and then lose their strength a couple of degrees past the direct degree. The Semi-Sextile is a 30 degree aspect and is also considered a minor aspect in astrological terms. Many Astrologers believe the Semi-Sextile to be of insignificance unless there are other aspects influencing it. The Semi-Sextile often adds to an already bigger picture having influence in an individual’s horoscope. The Semi-Sextile does suggest an added significance of opportunities, sometimes being in the right place at the right time. Although considered very minor, the potential for opportunities still exists during the very close timing of these aspects. It should be noted that when planets are moving direct and not in their retrograde cycle, the energies are released and can be used to the individuals advantage or will play significant roles either from a positive perspective or in challenging conditions. Saturn operates in a different manner than the other planets. The direct cycle of Saturn at times can influence the unfolding of opportunities after a time of challenges and disruptions especially when the aspect is considered positive. The more negative aspects like the square, conjunction and the opposition are usually much more challenging to deal with but also offer valuable lessons that can be used in the future to help facilitate growth on a very significant level. When Saturn is in its retrograde cycle, which will be from April 5, 2017 until August 25, 2017, the energies of Saturn take on energies similar to that of the planet Jupiter. Saturn unlike other planets when retrograde suggests action and moving forward. Other planets when in a retrograde motion suggest contemplation and planning and it is suggested that we wait to act until the retrograde period has ended with all planets but Saturn. The normal cautionary conditions that apply when Saturn is not in retrograde motion are relaxed and past conditions are brought to the forefront. These highlighted conditions can be used to your advantage during the retrograde period. For example, if you have been setting up a proposal and have been working on it diligently, during the retrograde cycle you may be able to proceed and actually achieve what you have set out to do. Of course you will also have to take into consideration what other factors might be influencing this in the chart. But in general, Saturn’s energies of disciplined action and steadfast approach can be used efficiently during this cycle. Saturn often deals with your occupation and the goals you are setting in your life in a material sense, although it can also reflect a more spiritual context if Jupiter or Neptune are involved in the equation.
