If the struggle seems to be getting too much and you do not know which way to turn, perhaps you might consider asking for outside assistance. Sometimes an impartial opinion can offer a solution we simply would not think of. Many feel as though they have failed when they reach what seems to be an impassable hurdle and find it very difficult to go to others for help. Many of us throughout life have relied strictly on our own resolve and feel pretty good because up to this point in life, we have managed quite well. There is no shame in reaching out to others for support or assistance. Many of us never question helping others. Why then would we question seeking help for ourselves? Is pride the only thing that holds us back? If we analyse what pride actually is, we will discover that it is a form of ego. So in reality, it is ego that stops us from asking for help when it is needed. We are not suggesting that every time we hit a snag in life that we should call out for help from others. Most of the time if we dig deep enough we will discover that we have what it takes to resolve the issue. Struggles build character, self-worth, expansive thinking, etc. Many times our greatest hurdles are our attitudes and where you choose to place our thoughts. But when the time comes when we truly require help, it is alright to ask others for their opinions and assistance. When we have exhausted our personal resources, reach out to others for they might have the perfect solution for our issue. In reaching out, there are different lessons in life. We learn team work, possibly humility, certainly gratitude and much more. Many times, we are so emotionally involved in issues that we do not view the situation from an objective perspective. We can stand on our own two feet in life, but must also be willing to let go of the ego’s hold and be willing to reach out when it is apparent that we are not able to find the resolutions that we are looking for. We have not given in. In reaching a solution for any issue, ultimately, we make the final decisions. No one can help us with the final decisions. Let go of ego’s interference. Have the courage to ask others when the time is right. We might just find exactly what we are looking for. The sextile between Neptune and Pluto is a long standing aspect and it has been in influence for 70 years. As a result, everyone under the age of 70 will have this aspect in their birth chart. There are many other influences in our birth charts so for some this aspect will be predominant and for others, they may have aspects that water down the affects of the sextile between Neptune and Pluto. This is a very sensitive placement between these two outer planets and is said to stimulate psychic and clairvoyant abilities, particularly if the Sun or Moon are also aspected by these planets. The closer this sextile aspect is to being direct, the stronger the influence. This sextile began during the Second World War around 1942 and deals with inner exploration, the mystical journey if you will. I am sure that during the onset of the Second World War many individuals would have spent time in contemplation of the why behind the war and learned a great deal about themselves during their plight. This would have taken place on a global scale and even though those that were fighting this war were not born with this sextile in their birth chart, they would have had it in transit. This too would have affected different areas of their natal chart. Pluto and Neptune both deal with the subconscious. Neptune deals with spirituality while Pluto deals with transformation. It takes little imagination to understanding the influence that these two giants in astrology would have in the lives of those that have this energy strongly influencing their lives. The sextile between these two planetary energies deal with the collective and the philosophy of the people influenced by this union. Many are swayed through the intuitive channels and are pioneering when dealing with problems faced by humanity. Some with this aspect can use their psychic abilities and aid others in their quest for truth. It is said that we reap what we sow. Do you feel this holds truth in your life? Do you feel that your life has its just rewards and that you have to take responsibility for your actions? Do you feel self-contained? Do you feel as though you are in control of your destiny? Do you feel as though life has the upper hand and it is taking you along for the ride? If we feel as though our control in life is limited and we feel we are being dictated to by life’s events, we need to be reminded that our reactions are what dictate how long an event will hold influence in our lives. We have forgotten that our reactions dictate how great the influence of an event is in our life. We have forgotten that our reaction and focus is holding us back from moving beyond the event. It is impossible to always recognize the true purpose of each and every event in life. If we were to look at life as a schooling of the soul and if we were to accept that all events in life serve as a propelling force moving us in a specific direction, we would be less stressed with each trial and tribulation. If we can accept that this is our life’s purpose, we will understand that there are no wrong turns. The study can be difficult but the lessons are as equally great as the experiences are tough! So what is the perfect bounty reaped from these life lessons? How have we evolved and interacted with these events? Our perfect bounty is perpetually changing. Our just rewards are revealed by our life’s ever-growing understanding and through our personal evolving story. We have always been on course, even when we feel we have swayed. Our lessons in life are presented throughout each specific event in life and they trigger a response from within. Our responses in turn dictate our next steps. So ultimately, we are in control of the next steps, even if on a subconscious level. It is important to understand that we are responsible for our lives and to remind ourselves of this continually. By taking responsibility and with an understanding that our higher self or soul has put these experiences that as humans we perceived or label as good or bad, we take much of the stress and judgement out of our lives. We gain insight and allow ourselves to be thrust forward into new and expanding directions. To clarify, we are not suggesting that situations such as an abusive relationship have been created by us. We are suggesting that we have agreed to experience this relationship so as to utilize a powerful learning tool such as self-empowerment. If anyone is currently living under traumatic conditions, they must learn to harness the strength within to move beyond the hurdles that stand in front of them. Our attitude and inner strength come into play under these conditions. We can and will overcome! We are at the controls. Our reaction to events is always in our hands. We choose how long we will be influenced by specific life conditions through our actions and reaction (or lack thereof) to these conditions. Our mental reaction specifically dictates the emotional influence in our lives. We are not at the mercy of life and can change direction physically and mentally at any given moment. We are continuing with our chart delineation topic from August 27, September 1 and September 3. Again, we are touching on the various techniques used, to find and understand the important characteristics and psychological makeup inherent in a birth chart. The ascendant or midheaven if found in the Cardinal placements of the birth chart (0-1 degree of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) or if planets are located close to the cusps of the first, fourth, seventh and tenth houses (the closer the stronger), these speak of important indicators in determining how life unfolds in a person’s chart. These are considered action areas of the birth chart and when transiting planets conjunct or make important contacts with these areas (particularly the ascendant and midheaven) they often indicate outside influence from others or deserve special mentioning. For example, a person with a strong connection to the MC (midheaven) their career, their standing in the community and their aspirations will have important meanings in their lives. When activated through transit or progression, these areas of life will be highlighted. You also have to look into the final Dispositor in the birth chart, although this is on a more advanced astrological level. You will have to determine how this planet will have an overall impact in your life. The final Dispositor is the ruling planet and often the energies associated with that particular planet have a powerful effect on the person. For example, if the Dispositor is the planet Pluto, the transformational energies linked to Pluto will have a profound effect on this person’s life. We have not touch on the final dispositor in any previous posts. If you are looking for specific information on the final dispositor, we will be writing a post setting out more information in the near future. There are other factors to review when delineating the birth chart, such as an emphasis on one particular aspect, or a lack of an aspect. The factors are virtually endless. With what we have touched on you can see the complexities when delineating the birth chart and how the energies vary because of the numerous possibilities. Each of these variations will affect each individual on different levels. With all of the challenged associated with losing someone near and dear, it is important to experience all of the feelings and emotions linked to death. It is not uncommon to want to escape these feelings but so important to experience them. It is certainly feels torturous at times to allow these emotions to surface and it seems much easier just to bury these intense feels and try to avoid the experience. In reality, we cannot run from these emotions and eventually, we must meet them head on. It is difficult accepting the loss of a loved one, especially those that we define as untimely. Sometimes it is hard to understand the “why” behind some life events, but if you allow the rational of our higher self, we will understand that it is the choice of the soul to leave this earthly experience when they do. Regardless of how it happens, the timing is correct; and they are ready to move on to the next level of experience. We can be greatly troubled by these events and some of us hang on to the loss far longer than others. By holding on, we experience grief at a heightened level which continually affects us emotionally. As a result of extended emotional stress, dis-ease can and will eventually play havoc on all of us, mentally, physically or both. Our loved ones that have now passed into the next realm would undoubtedly want us to experience our grief, let go and then move forward. They do not want us to experience any more pain than necessary to allow and let go. If we accept that there is life beyond our earthly existence that is awaiting us all and that death is actually just the passage from one form of life into another, it will assist us in letting go. We then can go inside and listen to our inner voice and our guides to hear the messages we need to move forward. Our loved ones are never far off and will reassure us of this in their own particular way. When we are ready, we will recognize that they are communicating with us. These forms of communication can be challenging and we might only get tidbits of information coming through. It will be on a level that is very subdued compared to our earthly communication. Through acceptance and “living”, we will eventually come to terms with their passing over and on some level will move forward with our lives. We will eventually come to terms with the agony of the experience and we will recover, at our own individual speed. Letting go is the challenge but is inevitable. If we allow, we will recover from each of life’s experiences. Love always prevails. In order to experience happiness once again, we must let life take us in whatever direction we are suppose to go. With our future at hand and the eternal now always here, we will find our way. Believe that we will once again be content and happy. Have faith in your journey. Many are faced with an aging body and some suffer from severe memory or recall issues. Some seniors may forget people’s names or may not be able to recognise long time friends, but no matter how their mind functions, these people should never be forgotten. Large numbers of seniors still lead a healthy and active life and keep busy, living a life of vigor filled with new experiences. But unfortunately there are some in nursing homes that have been forgotten in society. Many struggle emotionally without support from their families and most of their friends have passed. If you are so inclined, visit a senior’s home. Take the time to really look into the windows of the souls of these individuals. Watch as they move about and pay attention to the emotions they emit. It is heart wrenching to see these lovely individuals tucked away and forgotten. Many are starving for attention....for someone to just sit and talk to them. Spend a moments with them and watch the smiles bloom on their faces. When you are visiting a senior home, even if your intention is to visit a family member or friend, take a moment for others that do not get visitors. You will not have to look hard to find them and it only takes a minute to fill them with gratitude. It is particularly in our final days that we need to have someone who holds meaning to share this life with, someone that reassures us that we are still important, that we are loved. Regardless of our mental state and cognitive abilities, we are all still human and no one truly knows what goes on within these minds. Some day if we live long enough, we will be there. We too will appreciate visits from our loved ones and even a short conversation from a stranger. Seniors also live in the moment and are attuned to that instant even if their cognitive abilities have twisted the moment to long time ago. Once you have left after a visit, they may not remember what you said or even remember you were there, but we cannot truly understand what that visit has contributed to their life. When you have family members that are aging, be sure to spend time with them, to share your life and make them a part of it. Make them aware of the love that you have for them. Add the feeling of meaning to our senior’s lives. Share yourself and your life with them. It will have an impact that you cannot truly understand. Love is not love if it is not shared. We are continuing with our chart delineation topic from August 27 and September 1. Again, we are touching on the various techniques used or the tools which are used to find and understand the important characteristics and psychological makeup inherent in a birth chart. Along with the previous tools mentioned, it is important to also take into consideration the elements (earth, air, fire and water) that the signs and important locations (Ascendant/Midheaven) are in. Also, determine the modes (cardinal, fixed and mutable) and whether they are emphasized, lacking or well balanced. If you were to have six or more counts in any particular mode (the Sun and Moon are counted as two and the rest as one), there is an emphasis on that specific element or mode. If for example you have an emphasis in water and also an emphasis in cardinal, you would have some Cancer qualities linked to your personality. If there is only one specific emphasis, you would have to consider this as well. Cardinal emphasis is linked to someone who could be considered a “doer”. Someone with a water emphasis has powerful emotions and sensitivity attached to their personality as well as other attributes. This would help in determining some of the character traits linked to this individual. When you are looking at tight aspects, it is also important to check whether these aspects or planetary links are applying or separating one another. It is thought that an applying aspect suggests that the energies represented by the planetary bodies in question are specifics that have to be worked on and overcome in this life or are specifics that can be used for the benefit of the individual. The separating aspects, however, are understood to be elements within the psyche that are already understood and have been worked on prior to entering this life. As a result, they do not stand in the way of progress. It should also be understood that the tighter to exact the aspect is in the birth chart (example two planets separated by 15 minutes compared to two planets separated by 7 degrees) the more relevant its meaning and its importance in the individual’s life. Tight or close aspects between the Sun and Moon have particular relevance in the person’s life and should be give particular attention when deciphering a birth chart. Retrograde planets also play a significant role in the birth chart. Retrograde planets usually indicate energies that aid and add stimuli and energies in the chart. Several retrograde planets, no retrograde planets or only one retrograde planet has specific implications when deciphering the birth chart. Have an honest look at who you are including all of what you may consider to be your little flaws. Humour me for a moment. Now recognize “this” to be you for the moment. Next review what you initially thought your characteristics were but remove the minor flaws. Now ask yourself what this leaves? You must realize that no matter how perfect each of us are, we will always be capable of finding little flaws in our personalities....in our neighbour.....in our world. Now ask yourself if these flaws describe you as an individual. Do others see these minor blemishes or are you the only one that knows about them? Does it matter? Are you a lesser person because of these minor flaws? We need to pay attention to all of our personal attributes rather than spend so much time focusing on our self-admitted faults and the thoughts that these faults are part of us. If we could spend even half the time we spend analysing our perceived negative qualities and use this time to focus on our positive qualities, we might recognize and see ourselves in a much clearer light. These minor irritants are pale in comparison to our positive attributes. When focused on the positive, we will see ourselves as more of what we would like to be (who we truly are) but have failed to recognize our true selves prior to any exercise of awareness. The qualities we dislike about ourselves have to be recognized and seen for what they truly are. After doing some careful analysing we discover that these characteristics are not as impenetrable and negative as we once perceived them to be. By changing our focus on what we have within our personality rather than paying so much attention to what we think we do not like or what we feel is missing, we recognize who we truly are and truly see self. Remember our core personality has all the qualities that we wish we had. Remember our true nature and understand that we are spirit living in a material body which is unfortunately influenced by ego. What we perceive as negative has been built up by ego so that it can maintain control. Letting go of these false beliefs unleashes the true potential already alive within each of us. This potential is simply waiting to be unleashed. Everything we are looking for is already part of our makeup; it is already part of who we are. We do not have to look outside for confirmation as we simply have to allow ourselves to focus our attention on our life’s objectives and let go of the small insignificant so called impurities that we are now so focused on. Stop identifying with these. The real individual is based on love and compassion and upon realizing that this, we will transcend ourselves into a content individuals rather than individuals that feel incomplete. We do not need to seek completeness. We are always complete. Recognize that the only thing holding us back is our focus or ego’s persistence on what we feel we do not like within ourselves. Understand ego’s pursuit. Recognizing its influence is the key to allowing our connection with our higher self. We are not our ego. Let go of its grip by recognizing its intent. Allow the complete, loving individual that you are to shine completely! We are continuing with our chart delineation topic from August 27. Again, we are touching on the various techniques used, the tools which are used, to find and understand the important characteristics and psychological makeup inherent in a birth chart. Along with the previous tools mentioned in the August 27 post, you will also want to check into chart configurations such as the grand trine. Remember there are four elements that the grand trine can be found in (air, water, fire and earth) each one speaks of self-sufficiency in the energies of these elements. They also promote opportunities and often indicate good luck and easy flow. If the grand trine is found to occupy two different elements such as 2 planets being in Water and the third being Air, this is still considered a Grand trine but it is weakened because it has been split into two elements. You will want to check to see if there is a grand square. This configuration is quite different from the grand trine. The grand square usually suggests challenging conditions when activated through transit or progression. Often the person will feel stuck and unable to move forward in their life and will need to learn to centre themselves and find an operational outlet. This is usually found through the energies of the closest easy going aspect (trine, sextile, sometimes the quintile) that is attached to one of the four planets or points involved in the grand square. The T-square, along with the grand cross or grand square, are challenging configuration but usually provide the stimulus needed to push us forward in life and to overcome obstacles. People gain momentum when in balance, but are stifled when they are unable to move ahead. Remember all these configurations have intensity, but are strengthened in their influence the tighter the angle between planets or other important points (Mid-heaven, Ascendant) to one another. We need squares and oppositions in our charts to push us and challenge us. Without these learning aspects we would easily stagnate. For example, if someone has grand trines in their charts and very few tight squares or oppositions, when they are met with a challenging condition, they are unaccustomed to the pressure and do not know how to handle difficult situations. Someone with several learning or challenging aspects in their chart is accustomed to stressful conditions and will more easily challenge and overcome the more difficult lessons in life. People with the Yod configuration in their birth chart often experience life in ways that are challenging and they are forced to confront the issue at hand. The energy of this configuration can often produce much stress and could be classified as turning points when activated, where we have to make transformations in life which often leads to awareness or life changing condition. These events often seem preordained. Life seems to play havoc with anyone with a Yod and they are forced to make changes because it is too difficult to accommodate these trying times. All of these configurations referred to will have to be delineated by the house positions and by the planetary energies involved, as well as the story being told by other planets such as Mercury (it rules the mind and how one assimilates life) to determine how these configurations affect each individual. You can also determine much about individual characteristics by any emphasis by sign and house. The sign that has several planets located within its limits, such as say five planets in Scorpio, can overpower a softer solar placement, although the Sun still has a role in the our individual makeup. It is the same with an influence in specific houses such as say 5 planets in the fourth house. This particular influence suggests strong Cancer tendencies in the character of this individual. Take a moment to sit and enjoy watching our young. Watch their behaviour and pay attention to their attitudes. Do these behaviours and attitudes in any way match up with yours? The first thing we usually notice from children is that they are living in the moment. They are not concerned about what tomorrow brings. As a matter of fact, they are not even aware that tomorrow will exists. If they are content playing, sharing with a friend or simply watching and taking in what you might be doing, they ARE happy and living in the here and now. If their attention is somehow swayed from their playing, if their friend stops playing with them or you change your focus to from them to something else, under normal circumstances, the child quickly shift their attention to something else without missing a beat. They have moved on to something new. Whatever draws their attention is what holds them in the moment. They may become upset if they lose a toy, but usually for only a very short time and as soon as their attention in directed elsewhere, they forget their losses and move on. They are innocent in their actions and do not hold grudges. They are happy and content with whatever comes next. Can you live this way? Do you dwell on those things that you have lost in life or do you move forward? Do you adapt to life’s circumstances and move forward with as much enthusiasm as a child? Do you get stuck on “what used to be”? Do you have a difficult time moving in new directions? Just as our children, throughout our lives we will suddenly lose people, opportunities and things and will be forced to make changes in direction. A new path or opportunity, however, will be place in front of us. We then will have to choose – will we willingly follow this new opportunity and place our focus on life’s continually changing flow or will we fight for what was and swim against the current causing struggles and exhaustion? We can become upset and depressed over what used to be or we can choose to move forward on our new route with enthusiasm. If we can learn to easily change directions and not fight our inevitable course, life has so much more easy flow and the rewards are recognized immediately. We should live as children and accept change when it comes, to move forward with little hesitation, especially when something is taken away from us or when someone has left us. Many of us can get caught up in the past and when life’s path shifts we fight the changes that are inevitable. This unfortunately causes us to temporarily lose our direction. We cannot move forward until we have accepted and let go of the past. We can and eventually must leave our past where it belongs, in the past. Once we allow this to take place, we can move forward into the ever-changing moment. Learning to swim with our life’s current and not struggling to swim against the current. Floating or swimming with the current allows us to flow through our lives more readily. We cannot change the current. It will flow where it will. Life will have its turbulent moments and each of us will experience our fair share. The direction we swim is always our choice. Remember a new door always opens when an old door closes. This is not an ending but a new beginning. Each new life experience builds from the previous ones. Our life’s current is continuous and this is our path.
