On December 28, 2016, we will touch on transiting Jupiter in aspect to natal Saturn as Saturn is the ruling planet of Capricorn. Today, we will look at the semi-sextile between transiting Saturn and those with the Sun in Capricorn. Saturn will be between 19 and 27 degrees Sagittarius until it goes retrograde on April 6, 2017. It will remain in its retrograde motion until August 25 and during this period Saturn will move from 27 degrees to 21 degrees Sagittarius. Anyone with their Sun in Capricorn between 19 and 27 degrees (also allow for one degree approaching -- 18 degrees and three degrees separating -- up to 29 degree Capricorn to 1degree Aquarius) will be affected. You will have to use a very tight orb as this aspect is only strong within one degree of influence (some Astrologers use a 30 minutes influence). Saturn, unlike all the other planets, because of its slow and deliberate action, actually has its most powerful influence when it is two degrees past direct. All the other planets are most powerful when they are direct and then lose their strength a couple of degrees past the direct degree. The Semi-Sextile is a 30 degree aspect and is also considered a minor aspect in astrological terms. Many Astrologers believe the Semi-Sextile to be of insignificance unless there are other aspects influencing it. The Semi-Sextile often adds to an already bigger picture having influence in an individual’s horoscope. The Semi-Sextile does suggest an added significance of opportunities, sometimes being in the right place at the right time. Although considered very minor, the potential for opportunities still exists during the very close timing of these aspects. It should be noted that when planets are moving direct and not in their retrograde cycle, the energies are released and can be used to the individuals advantage or will play significant roles either from a positive perspective or in challenging conditions. Saturn operates in a different manner than the other planets. The direct cycle of Saturn at times can influence the unfolding of opportunities after a time of challenges and disruptions especially when the aspect is considered positive. The more negative aspects like the square, conjunction and the opposition are usually much more challenging to deal with but also offer valuable lessons that can be used in the future to help facilitate growth on a very significant level. When Saturn is in its retrograde cycle, which will be from April 5, 2017 until August 25, 2017, the energies of Saturn take on energies similar to that of the planet Jupiter. Saturn unlike other planets when retrograde suggests action and moving forward. Other planets when in a retrograde motion suggest contemplation and planning and it is suggested that we wait to act until the retrograde period has ended with all planets but Saturn. The normal cautionary conditions that apply when Saturn is not in retrograde motion are relaxed and past conditions are brought to the forefront. These highlighted conditions can be used to your advantage during the retrograde period. For example, if you have been setting up a proposal and have been working on it diligently, during the retrograde cycle you may be able to proceed and actually achieve what you have set out to do. Of course you will also have to take into consideration what other factors might be influencing this in the chart. But in general, Saturn’s energies of disciplined action and steadfast approach can be used efficiently during this cycle. Saturn often deals with your occupation and the goals you are setting in your life in a material sense, although it can also reflect a more spiritual context if Jupiter or Neptune are involved in the equation. As we move from the high-minded, philosophical and optimistic energy of the Sagittarian, we now delve into the much more serious sign of Capricorn on the 22nd day of December, 2016. The message brought forward into the sign of Capricorn is to look at life from a more relaxed view point and always look at life from a positive perspective. Jupiter deals with fair play. Its energies reflect moral and religious involvements. Jupiter involves expansion, brings good luck and optimistic potentials. It is the planet of growth in material terms as well as expansion when it comes to life circumstances and how you can relate to this from a positive perspective. While Jupiter makes positive aspects to other planets and points in the Zodiac, there are great opportunities for conditions to turn out favourably. The house position occupied by progressed Jupiter is where you will find opportunities to gain knowledge. Jupiter also has to do with travel, courts of law and lawsuits. In general, when Jupiter progresses through the chart, these or some of these areas of life may be highlighted, especially if Jupiter happens to be in the ninth house. Jupiter also governs publishing, higher education and learning through experience. Each house cusp advances one degree per year through progression and Jupiter moves closer and closer until it finally moves into the next house. Jupiter moves slower than the progressed houses and it is important to notice where Jupiter is in the natal chart and the houses it moves through during progression. These few houses (usually not more than three) will become areas of life that are affected by the progression of Jupiter in your chart. You will also need to take into consideration any aspects that might come into play from the other progressed planets as well as transiting planets that make contacts during Jupiter’s slow movement through your specific houses. If Jupiter passes across your MC (Midheaven) the opportunities for growth in your profession has great potential especially if it is well aspected. You will also have to look at the overall condition of Jupiter in your natal chart as this will determine how great the success will be. A poorly aspected natal Jupiter does not promote in ways that a well aspected Jupiter does. When Jupiter passes over your MC, you may have opportunities for a promotion or may gain positive influence from people of higher positions. Travel or relocation might be on the agenda during the year Jupiter sits directly on these angles. I personally use an orb of 20 minutes for Jupiter as it approaches and 15 minutes when it separates. Progressed Jupiter on the ASC (ascendant) opens the door in very personal ways with less restrictions or obstacles for you. It might indicate a new relationship or expansion in the family. Prosperity and good luck seem to find their way to you. Since Jupiter has to do with law suits and legalities, when Jupiter is on the Ascendant or Midheaven, the potential for legal things to go well are increased. Jupiter on the DC (descendant) once again offers opportunities for marriage or opportunities to promote a new organization or affiliation with someone who can be of benefit to you in a business opportunity. Jupiter on the IC suggests changes within the home or with family members usually on a positive note. It is a good time to buy real estate or your monetary values in these areas may increase. In our physical world, we can exercise, eat properly, have regular medical checkups and in general look after ourselves, but will these practices keep us young? Is being young a state of the body or is it a state of mind? I am sure you have experienced a very child who is obviously a very old soul. These children are much too wise for their years. Is this an example of being old? Does knowledge and an ingrained knowing indicate age? Most young children play and enjoy their lives. They live completely in the moment. They have few cares but when they have one, they can become obsessed with their issue within that moment. However as soon as they move away from an issue by altering their focus, the issue is often gone forever or holds little relevance. Is this considered being young or a youthful thing to do, or is this something we can all enjoy? Staying forever young, certainly in part, deals with living in the moment. Children enjoy the moment and live within it. They experience fully the details of their focus. We, as adults, tend to live in our minds and think in terms of what will be or what has already been. Rarely are we content with living in the now. Staying forever young, in part, deals with attitude especially is we stay open and allow. Do we suddenly stop learning because we are old? Does life no longer provide us with any new lessons and do we really have all the information and all the answers? I think not. We are never too old to learn. If we want to stay young, we certainly have to allow ourselves to have fun, stay open and continue learning. Mercury will go retrograde (appears to be moving backward) on December 19 or 20, 2016, and remain so until January 8, 2017. The date will vary depending on where you live. During this retrograde cycle, Mercury will be in between 15 degrees Capricorn and move as far back as 28 degrees Sagittarius before it goes direct again. Mercury retrograde cycles are most important to those that have Mercury retrograde in their birth chart, although it does affect everyone to some degree. This will be particularly true if you have Mercury retrograde in your birth chart and then also have it in the critical degrees and the signs (from 28 degrees Sagittarius to 15 degrees Capricorn). Mercury retrograde seems to create external conflicts for those that meet the above criteria. It may seem as though any plans that you set in motion during these dates are subject to delays, mishaps and there will be the need to make sure that what you are proposing to do is well prepared for and all necessary preparatory sets have been taken before you finally move forward with your goals. Even the best laid plans can go astray during this cycle and many Astrologers suggest that their clients wait until this cycle is over before proceeding with their plans. Much depends on other influences in the birth chart related to these degrees (28 degrees Sagittarius to 15 degree Capricorn). If you have other planets within these critical degrees and especially if they are in square (90 degrees), in opposition (180 degrees) or conjunct (0 degrees) to this placement, they might indicate some struggles when it comes to making plans actually happen as they were originally planned to unfold. Plans seem to be postponed or reversals happen during this time, and making new plans during this cycle, unless totally unavoidable, are not suggested. If, however, you have natal planets that are in sextile (60 degrees) or trine (120 degrees) and in some cases (the conjunction 0 degrees), goals may not manifest as you expected. The outcome, however, may still be favourable. Regardless of the aspects, the time spent during this period is often not as disruptive or devastating as most people believe. You will find that some things go by without a hitch although some things can go terribly wrong. It is suggested, however, that if you do need to move ahead in something, particularly any written contracts, such as making plans to buy a car and signing important documents, you carefully weight things out and read the fine print before signing. There are often delays or unforeseen delays. Taxation problems have been noted to go astray or the purchasing of a home may also signify some type of hitches during the process. Either the house is not ready or the plans do not go as timely as they are supposed to. Make sure you are totally satisfied before you sign any papers. Signing documents is often a huge part of the process in the Mercury retrograde cycle, as Mercury is the ruler of such things. If you are getting ready to write an exam or a final paper, you should make sure that you use the retrograde time to study the subject in a complete and comprehensive manner. Mercury retrograde cycles are great times for study. Preparatory work is well suited for this time frame. Regardless of what has to happen during this period, you should still go ahead if you must, but be prepared for delays and minor obstructions along the way. We tend to think of ourselves as a separate entity, free and clear of any type of actual inseparable bond with anyone else. We connect but at the same time we feel separated and in many ways on our own in this life. We can make close connects and can also feel attached in many ways emotionally but still feel separate and individual. Why is this? Are we really so different from one another? We will be having a Full Moon in Central Ontario (Canada) in the sign of Gemini at 22 degrees on the 13th of December at 7:06 p.m. Depending on where in the world you live, you may experience the full moon on December 14, 2016. You can check the timing of the lunar phases in your area at www.calendar-12.com/moon_phases/2016 Gemini is closely linked to the formulation of new ideas often brought on through education and conversation. Since once again this is a time to harvest, we suggest that you to take diligent notes on what you are being educated on. Harvest the knowledge you are being presented with as you may be able to use these ideas later in creating short transcripts or perhaps the writing of a book. With Gemini involved, it will be something along these lines. It could be a time to market your ideas to the public or present these concepts perhaps within your schooling. If you have already been in the process of marketing your ideas now may be the best time to move ahead, especially if you have planets that link up with this 22nd degree. Trines and sextile to Gemini at 22 degrees will certainly work to your advantage. Squares to this degree may require more work on your part, while oppositions indicate that other people will have an influence in your endeavours. Mercury, which is ruled by Gemini, will be going into its retrograde cycle on the 19th of December and will remain retrograde until January 8, 2017. During this retrograde cycle, you should be making plans in the areas we have just discussed. Then if fully prepared, move forward on these ideas (probably after the retrograde cycle ends). The retrograde cycle of Mercury suggests that rather than put things into action you would do better with making plans to do so. Move forward after this cycle is finished, which again will be any time after the 8th of January. Mercury will be in the final stages of Sagittarius when it turns direct which is 6 degrees beyond being direct to this Full Moon. Mercury will be in opposition to this placement of the Moon so the potential for someone to be of assistance with your endeavour is enhanced. Saturn will also be in the sign of Sagittarius and Saturn nearly always presents you with obstacles to overcome and may also slow down the process, so be patient and make sure you are completely prepared for this undertaking. Saturn’s restrictions are actually lessons. Uranus is also in trine to this position, approximately 20 degree Aries, suggesting some opportunities will come your way, but you can expect the unexpected. Plans will materialize when you least expect them to. This is the energies of Uranus. Jupiter is also in the sign of Libra at this time which suggests some luck in obtaining benefits and expansion on these ideas. Jupiter can be very beneficial even when Saturn creates its hard lessons. As mentioned, check your chart to see if you have other planetary positions at 22 degrees or if your MC or Ascendant is involved in the sequence of events. This will further define what opportunities or what obstacles that you may have to deal with as you move forward.
