Some people believe that we are defined by how we dress. Some believe we are defined by our financial status and the car we drive, our home and its furnishings. Many view and judge us by these material possessions. This labeling can go even further and we are a reflection of how our children behave in public when they are small or teens or what our children do as adults is also a reflection on us as parents. Truly many of us differ from who the inner person is compared to the outer personality that we shown to the world. In astrology, the inner self is defined by our Sun sign and our outer self is defined by our Ascendant personality which can certainly be two complexly separate personality types. In truth, how others perceive us is really insignificant and what really matters is how we see ourselves. Do we like what we see? Are we comfortable in displaying our inner qualities to the outside world? If the answer is no, we need to ask ourselves why. If the answer is yes, we could also examine the reason why. In truth we are who we are. Definition is only important to our ego. Our inner, higher self is our true personality and unfortunately, in many cases this personality is not fully revealed to the outside world due to ego’s interference. Why does the ego want us to hide our true identity? Is it uncomfortable with this expression? In truth it really does not matter what the ego wants. We must strive to shed the shackles of ego and not worry about answering or bowing to its demands. After a good hard look inside, if we do not like what you see, we can accept that what we are undoubtedly seeing is the ego’s reflection, which is not who we are at all. We are all the positive qualities that reflect our being, and these connect us with source. We strive to realize and understand. We are all, undoubtedly, familiar with the ever present, relentless ego’s and its invasive insistence on making life less than ideal. We have learned to recognize ego’s intrusions. Recognizing its methods helps us to understand that it is not part of our true identity. We are only held captive by its influence if we choose to identify with the feelings that ego creates. The more we identify with it, the more we empower it energies. Many live completely under its destructive influence. It is never too late to recognize its existence, release its grip and re-energize our free will. Some may ask “Why would I want to dispel my ego? It serves me well”. If it is serving a positive purpose, it is not the ego. It may be your guides, your inner self or your intuition that propels these positive ideas forward into your consciousness. The ego’s purpose is to stifle your growth in whatever way works for that particular moment. It is that relentless voice that stops you from moving forward in life. It is not that quiet reassuring voice that ensures you that you can do this, that you can succeed or that you are worth it. The voice of ego says that you do not have what it takes to excel in whatever goal you are aiming for at this moment. Your goal is to release yourself from its hold, to recognize it for what it is and to stop identifying with its constant negative nattering. You can begin this process any time. You can start today and by recognizing how the ego works, you can identify it which will ensure you awareness of its intent. The ego weakens and begins to lose its hold the more we recognize its negative chatter. It will fight to retain its mastery. It will fight hard to hold its ground and it becomes intense in its struggle to sideswipe the control you are gaining over your thoughts and their process. Eventually Ego’s nattering is as silly and ridiculous as those “justifying thoughts for just one more” of an ex-smoker. At this point the nattering is laughable and ego settles into its true place to help you awaken to your true identity, which is spiritual in its nature. The process is yours to unfold. No one else can set this process in motion. Understand that it takes time and commitment to begin to notice any change, but it will come. It has taken your entire life for ego to obtain the control that it has and for most of us it will take some time to make this positive shift. We all move at our own speed. Do not back off. We are taking a look at the generation born between 1959 and 1968 in this post. Those born during this time period will have a completely unique family unit from generations born before them. Many born during this period have what is considered unconventional family structures and these individuals are unique in their nature. Many of these individuals carried the blame for any shortcomings within their childhood family circle, quite unlike the thinking of today by some that the blame for any deficiencies in the family unit or with the children is bore by the parents. The individuals of this time period are largely a more compliant group with an understanding or opinion that there is fated effects in life and that there is a job to do and a life to orchestrate. This generation has brought with them a new purpose, a visualization and belief that the world is capable of cleansing itself from its self-made misery. This concept is blatantly obvious to these people and a large part of their focus is to cleanse or heal the world around them. There is a feeling of responsibility and obligations to be met. They are ready to take on this challenge whether it is in the immediate family or on a much grander scale. They are somewhat impatient and want to get on with the job at hand. These people seek this development through transcendent means. They are spiritual in nature or strive to live in the “real-world” and in a useful manner. They seek to unleash new thinking and concepts and to transcend the old ways simply through everyday living and more substantially through humanitarian efforts. They challenge us to a new way of living, to teaching our children to take control of their lives and accept responsibility for their actions. As their children age, they hope that they have taught their values through example so that generations to come will follow and continue to take responsibility for their actions and their lives. As a parent, we have witnessed and emotionally experienced the many changing proverbial faces of our children. For those that have young children, you are just beginning this wonderful and emotional journey. We utilize the time that we are given to mold and influence our children as best we can yet they are certainly impacted in part by life’s experiences beyond our walls. The best we can, we steer them in the appropriate directions when they are close and we lend an ear when they are willing to talk to let them know that someone is interested and cares. Getting them to open up can be a parent’s most challenging task and unfortunately, there are times when we have to accept that they will not open up to us. This is frustrating as a parent as we truly believe, even instinctively know, that we can help to guide them through most of life’s adversity. It is so essential to reinforce that we have their backs and we are always available when needed, for this is what unconditional love truly is. For those with very young children, you have the opportunity now to reinforce the importance of talking things through and that you will always be at their side under any circumstance. If you lay this foundation now and truly listen when they have their stories to tell, they will more often than not reach out to you and trust you with their private concerns. Our greatest gift to our children, even to those that now have matured, is to let them know that we love them and will always be at their side whatever the circumstance. There are a large number of our readers that are between the ages of 24-35. Accordingly, we thought we would share our thoughts on the Saturn Return. The natal or birth chart is a snapshot of the heavens at the moment of birth. From that moment on the planets continue on their rotational path. Most planets eventually return to their location at the moment of our birth, with the exception of the outer planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) as they take much longer to complete their cycle. Saturn takes between 27 to 29 years to complete its cycle. Uranus takes 84 years and the other two most outer planets take much longer and we do not live long enough to experience their return. Saturn has a profound impact in our lives. It produces or presents us with lessons that can be quite stressful (depending on our reaction to issues in life) whenever it becomes activated in our charts. It’s like we have come to a crossroad in our development and we are forces to take a good look at our lives and make some needed changes. These times can be very trying and can last a significant period of time, especially if there are other planetary energies at work over the same period. We have touched a little on houses in previous posts and will go deeper into these areas of life later in other posts. Depending on which house Saturn can be found in your birth chart and what aspects it is making to other planets, these particular areas of life (houses) will become activated during the Saturn return. The intensity and duration depends largely on the other planets that are stimulating the area and how long they transit (transit is the motion of the planet) and what aspects (aspects are angles between planets) they make to each other. If you are going through a stressful period and you are between the ages of 27-29, this is without a doubt due to Saturn’s return to its natal position in your birth chart. We, at Holm Astrology, can go deeper into your Astrology chart and have a look at how Saturn’s return will influence you and how to soften the lessons it will present. When Saturn has completed its return cycle, you can be certain that a new person will emerged with a greater understanding of self and with valuable information in hand due to the experiences. This period around the age 29 is when we go through our full Saturn return. Some people are far more sensitive to the energies and can feel the influence as much as 2 years prior to its conjunction with its natal position. The second Saturn return comes when we are 58. Again, some individuals will feel the energies as much as 2 years prior, but the most powerful influence occurs when it is at its tightest conjunction. We are forever changing and releasing layer so that we can eventually be our true authentic self. Do not fear rejection especially from those who do not accept the true you that is unfolding. If we have climbed the ladder of success and are in a position of authority over others or if we have influence that will affect those around us, we must tread carefully and be sure to impacting others through truth and influence them through acts of inspiration. There are times when we feel as though we are at the mercy of life -- times when we feel like we cannot break free of stress, frustration, remorse, abandonment and the list goes on. These are the moment when we must reach inside to find that spark of strength that we know on an instinctive burns within us. Many can feel as though nothing is left and giving up seems like the easiest course to take. Just before the dawn is the darkest hour and unfortunately, some will see this as perpetual darkness and bow to fear and their feelings of abandonment. Those that have found that spark of strength to rise above these moments in life know that letting go of the attachment to these events is the only way to move beyond the darkness. When we reach this point, there is a part of us that knows that we can no longer hold on to these focuses or attachment to the events or emotions that have created this dark pit. Unfortunately some misconstrue the act of letting go. When we let go, we do not give up. We release ourselves from the shackles that attach us to the darkness. The key to these shackles is self love. A spark of self love is enough to allow us to see those energies or forces far greater than self that reach out a proverbial hand to assist us up out of our darkness. If we love ourselves enough to ask for help, in whatever form available, help will be provided. Though no one else will ever understand our true suffering, we are never alone. We have at our disposal guides and companions whether in human form or not that walk with us especially in times of darkness. Never hesitate to ask for help as we are always worthy of it and there is always a solution if we actually listen with our hearts. Reaching out can be very difficult but we are worth the effort. Receiving help is a blessing we are entitled to. Even though the answer may come from outside of us and we may wrestle with the answer we receive, if we remaining open and loving towards ourselves we will come to the answers we seek. The capability to overcome any adversity is available. We have the tools at hand, but we have to believe in that potential in order for it to begin to unfold. Even in our darkest moments, if we listen with our hearts, we will hear that guiding voice, that quiet reassuring voice and we will feel that comforting hand on our shoulder. That voice will reassure us that we are not alone and we will make it through and conquer. After all we are the spirit that dwells within. We are the connection that we seek. We are having a full Moon in Libra at 3 degrees and 17 minutes as well as a lunar eclipse March 23, 2016. This Lunar eclipse and Libra Full Moon deals with relationships and with seeking harmony and peace in relationships in our lives. This could be a relationship with our spouse, our children, partnerships in business and important relationships with people in general, including our parents and close friends. The area of life involved can be found by looking at our birth charts to locate where Libra at 3 degrees will be found. This will be the area of life that needs attending to at this time. If we have planets or significant points within three degrees of this point (3 degrees Libra), these will be emphasized. We can make significant changes in these areas although generally the Full Moon speaks of finalizing or harvesting our plans or intentions. The eclipse’s energy will influence our lives for the same number of months as the actually eclipse lasts in hours. For example, if the Lunar eclipse takes 3 and ½ hours to unfold completely, the influence from the energies of the eclipse will last up to 3 and ½ months. When the moon makes a conjunction to this degree and an opposition to Libra at this degree, the eclipse will be activated and the area of life which was activated by the eclipse (house placement) will once again become prevalent in your life. Some people believe that the eclipse’s degree is a sensitive zone or area on its own and they also believe that this degree often represents challenging conditions in the area of life affected. This is not always the case and often positive things happen in these areas, although sometimes with some challenging conditions attached to them. We can use this eclipse to help facilitate positive change in our personal lives. Relationships that matter to us now have the opportunity to increase in quality and strength. Alternatively, we can use this energy to finalize issues found within the relationship that now need confronting or re-aligning. We may also choose to withdraw completely from a relationship; much will depend on what we want to do with this energy. Sometimes life has an agenda that we do not fully understand. Change may be essential without our consent. During these times, it is important to understand, have faith and accept that change is necessary with or without our consent. We can assist to make life easier or we can fight an unwinnable battle. As some of you may know, Saturn is known as the taskmaster, the teacher. Its energies commonly defies anything new and looks for structure in life. We thought we might discuss the conjunction of Saturn to the Midheaven. The Midheaven along with the Ascendant are the most significant positions in the horoscope. They generally indicate, when transiting planets cross these points, times of revelations and a time to push to begin anew or strengthen what is already in place. With Saturn, the planet insisting on structure and a solid foundation, you will find that you are abruptly faced with new duties or you have to be accountable especially within the working environment. There is usually a need for fine-tuning the framework you have put into place over the past 14 years or so. Saturn takes approximately 29 years to complete its cycle around the zodiac and Saturn would have been in opposition to the Midheaven14 years ago. This is usually a time when we are paying close attention to what we have been doing with our lives. With the current energies of Saturn, now may be a time to begin a new effort that should reach its climax when Saturn conjuncts the Midheaven. The older we are during these junction points, the more relevant the issues pertaining to our occupation, our standing in the community and status will be. We will now review our efforts that were initiated some 14 years ago. The effects of these efforts will now be experienced fully. If we have carefully built a solid foundation in these areas of life and prepared for our future, we may feel very ambitious and receive rewards for all of our hard work and planning. If you have taken short-cuts in order to prepare for this period in life, and we have tried to avoid our responsibilities, we may now have to come to terms with these shortfalls and may have to alter the course of our actions. If we took shortcuts, our plans may not be working out successfully and we will have to assess the damage and begin rebuilding, repairing and making necessary changes to help alleviate some of these issues and shortfalls. When the planet Saturn crosses the Midheaven (MC) in our chart, it is usually very apparent, with or without knowledge of Astrology, as this is the climatic point. Although it may happen rather suddenly, we will feel Saturn’s effects for a few degrees before it makes actual contact with the MC. Sometimes Saturn, because it delays all matters and often leads to contemplation, the strongest effects are felt 1 to 2 degrees past the actual Midheaven point. We will be faced head-on with the results of our efforts from over the past several years. There is no getting away from what has been done thus far and we will either prosper from our previous actions or pay the piper and rebuild so that we can create a more solid foundation for our future.
