Holm Astrology has been creating "Astrology" and "Food For Thought" posts for over 10 years.  Wix has taken over the Vista Print websites and as a result of the migration of our information, a large portion of our blog posts are currently lost.

We realize our Astrology posts are vital to our students.

If you do not find what you are looking for on this Blog page, please visit www.holmastrology.blogspot.com/ where you will find our missing blog posts.  There are over 2,660 posts pre September, 2023.

We apologize for the inconvenience but it is worth the jump over to our blogspot.

There are some actions in life that we are obligated to carry out. We must have a job in order to provide essentials.  We need to look after our health to enjoy good health. We have an obligation to ourselves first and foremost, but we also have obligations to our elders, family, boss, co-workers, friends and the list goes on, in varying degrees. There are things we must do to keep the flow of growth and opportunities in place.

We have a duty to our family, especially to our children as they slowly move forward into their own lives.  They learn from our example. We are likely reflected in the actions of our children in some form or another.  Because of this, we must set an example that is worthy to be carried forward.

Being that good example comes easier if we have respected our obligation to ourself as we mature. It is important to foster positivity into our daily lives. It is essential to formulate an action plan that includes our wellbeing. We do have obligations beyond ourselves, but we must take care of ourselves to be of assistance to others. You cannot feed someone from an empty cupboard.

We have the ultimate tool required to initiate change. We can change our attitude, first and foremost. A slight adjustment can help us go from chaos to calm. Attitude is perhaps the most important ingredient in making life more manageable, if not enjoyable.
Duty and Obligation

Is our attitude one that promotes or allows happiness, or are we caught up in the challenges and noise of life?

How can we shift our focus away from the noise to accommodate harmony within?

We have the ultimate tool required to initial change.  We can change our attitude, first and foremost.  A slight adjustment can help us go from chaos to calm.  Attitude is perhaps the most important ingredient in making life more manageable, if not enjoyable.

Life can and will be difficult at times.  We cannot change what life throws our way, but we can change the way we look at these lessons.  In our mind, we can change the word “difficulties” and use the word “lessons”.  That in itself is the first step.  We can learn to turn our reactions to actions.  Reactions are uncontrolled.  Actions are purposeful and productive.

It takes little effort to be a victim, but it comes at a high price of stress and lack of enjoyment.  Go from victim to victor over your life experience.  It does take work, much effort, in fact initially.  We are creatures of habit.  Break the habit and exercise the “finding the positive” muscle.  The more you exercise it, the stronger it becomes.

If we look for hatred in this world, we will find much hatred.  If we look for compassion in this world, compassion will show up.

A positive attitude is not going to change the world around you (but it might); a positive attitude will change the world within and make the world around you much more enjoyable.  A life of peace and appreciation is within our grasp and much of what we might want for ourselves is available if we wish to work for it.

Believe in ourselves; push ourselves a little. Make it our duty and obligation to have peace within under any of life’s conditions.  We are strong and resilient. With determination, we can do anything we want to help ourselves through any of life’s situations. We are always learning and becoming stronger if we exercise what we need to.

Saturn, by definition, often speaks of challenging conditions, tasks at hand, lessons to learn, discipline, creating organization and building a strong foundation.

As Saturn transits through the houses, especially when it connects with the planets or the cusp of each house, it is often felt as an integrating energy that asks us to pay attention and often requires additional work.  Saturn’s influence is not something that should be ignored and is felt especially when it conjuncts a planet or angle in our birth chart.

Saturn, at its most powerful, often interacts when it is 2° past being direct because of its delayed effects.  However, you will likely feel Saturn’s approach long before it reaches this critical degree of influence.  Therefore, we can prepare for its influence, but it is highly suggested that you not anticipate its action as negativity can result.

Saturn is the teacher of the Zodiac, and this is what it will do.  Its action sparks our attention and when transiting Saturn is in square to itself in the birth chart (which is what we are focused on in this article) our attentiveness will be enhanced.

Saturn asks us to work hard towards our objectives and not to miss any steps along the way.  It will teach us patience and diligence. If we do the work that is required, its energies can help build solid foundations that stand the test of time.  The structures that can be built can withstand almost any interaction because they are built from structure and lessons that are likely difficult and do not need repeating.

Much will depend on the houses involved in the equation.  The house where Saturn transits often produce tension or lessons and the house where Saturn natally resides helps in assisting with the dilemma.  Squares indicate struggle, but the difficulty is irritating enough that it forces us into action to formulate a plan to alleviate the irritation. Natal Saturn and its natal positioning in the birth chart will provide you with more information and information on potential difficulty or greater ease for transition due to its aspects.

When Saturn in transit forms a square with natal Saturn, it initiates a significant phase of teaching and learning. While Saturn symbolizes hardship, it also fosters resilience & inner strength. Individuals may not realize the depths of their fortitude until Saturn compels them to face such lessons. Indeed, Saturn is the ultimate teacher.
Saturn Square Natal Saturn

When transiting Saturn squares natal Saturn, there will be a teaching/learning phase.  You will work your way through what Saturn’s energies are pushing at you and become more equipped to handle situations in the future.  Difficulties are represented by Saturn, but Saturn also builds resilience and integrates strength.  Many may not even realize they have this strength until Saturn forces the lesson on them.  Saturn truly is the teacher.

When is the timing right? Have no regrets because of anxiety and fear that resulted in no action. Push through adversity and know that whatever decision you make, it was the right one, no matter how it might look in the present moment.
Timing

How do we know when the timing is right to move ahead or change direction?

Are we ready for action or change?

How will our action affect us?

These are some of the questions we ask ourselves when we are planning.

We may hesitate because of our mind’s chatter, or we may hold back because of fear and anxiety.  These unfortunately can cause missed opportunities.

So then, what guides us and how do we know if we should advance?

Quite often we get what is referred to as “gut feeling or instinct”.  There is a part of us that knows whether or not we should do what we are about to do.  Sometimes we listen to this advice, and sometimes we ignore it.

This is not to say that we don’t do our due diligence.  That is the first step when we decide to move forward with a plan.

There will likely come a time when we look back and say to ourselves “I regret not taking that step”, or “am I ever glad that I listened to my gut instinct and worked towards my goal”.

There will often be worries or concerns about actions taken, but if we sit back and never follow through, we will never know what could have been.  Fear is our greatest enemy and gut instinct is our greatest supporter.  We must learn to differentiate between the two.

Sometimes things just fall into place and sometimes we need to assert ourselves and work diligently towards that result we seek.  Have no regrets because of anxiety and fear that resulted in no action.  Push through adversity and know that whatever decision you make, it was the right one, no matter how it might look in the present moment.

You always move in the intended direction.  What we consider a mistake is actually an experience teaching us a valuable lesson.

Advice from others can assist, but ultimately, you make the final decision, so you take responsibility and the action.

How do we know when to act?

When is the timing right?

Now is the time to act. Don’t let fear stand in your way!
